Checking to see if I knew anyone. Any areas listed sound familar?
Congregations:
Riverside Area - Mira Loma, Tyler, Arlington, Riverside Spanish, Colton Spanish, Corona Spanish.
San Diego Area - Vista, Vista Bobier, San Marcos
Of couse, just like everyone else in the truth, you get to know brothers from all over at assemblies and weddings, etc. Had a JW GF in Huntington Beach/Fountain Valley so spent some time at her hall and picnics. Played in a band at some clubs (how worldly) with some brothers in Lake Elsinore until we were brought to the body of Elders and had our hands slapped. But i'm sure we've run across each other somewhere or another.

Faithful and Discrete Slave
by Johnna inif it is true that the slave class is here to lead the organization, and their numbers on earth are still in the thousands, why is it only just a handful at the headqtrs that send out the spiritual food?
i have known many "annointed" ones over my course of involvement and none of them were ever called on for their input, guidance, counsel, etc... much less to have a turn to lead the work in ny.
aren't they all supposed to be doing the guidance work on the earth?

By the way... thanks for the "welcome", freetosee. It's been quite an eye opener to see so many with the same thoughts as myself.
I was born and raised a JW, baptized in '68, pioneered on and off, disfellowshipped in '74, reinstated in '75 (whew, just in time for armageddon!), stopped going in the early 80's during a divorce, made a comback in the late 80's and then finally stopped altogether in the mid 90's, not officially, just stopped going. So I guess I wasn't truely there. It's like the one poster said a couple messages back, this is our social world. Having been raised in the "truth", what else is there in this world? I had no other friends or family out of it?
I have a totally different life now but still have the Christian principles inside of me. But I am more open to reason than I used to be as a raised JW, where you just ate the "food" regardless of how it taste or whether it was good for you. I still do feel somewhat distant from all organizations though, both political and religious. I'm not a member of any. So thanks everyone for sharing your ideas. I was always led to believe that those who left the truth were unscrupulious, criminal, immoral type people. It's good to see that there are others who walked away, not because they were evil, but just because we feel that things just didn't make sense. I thought I was the only one out here.

"One of my biggest gripes about 'my fellow elders' was that they would give a kid hell for standing for the national anthem at school, but when they would go to a ball game or a car race, they would always make it their plan to be already standing up or they would be at the bathroom or the food line when the anthem was played."
Yeah... my Dad was a servant (before the elder arrangement- mid 60's) and we went to a "roller derby" game in San Bernardino with another brother who was a servant and his daughter. I guess I was probably about 12 years old. Well you're right, about 5 mins before the game was about to start, my Dad and the brother got up to "go to the bathroom" and left us there. The national anthem started and me and the girl just looked at each other as we sat there. We felt as if we were abandoned by spiritual deserters in the battle for the truth! As kids it made a very bad impression on us.

"Anyway, the 144k member told me he doesnt know until he reads the literatur himself. So I said, how can that be? You belong to the slave class who provides food at the proper time!
He also couldn't answer how the new light comes about."Freetosee.... that's EXACTLY what I'm referring to! Thanks for posting, being someone who experienced it first hand !

Aren't they ALL supposed to be doing the guidance work on the earth? I would have expected to see their own conventions and meetings regularly, with attendance mandatory for all annointed around the world. It should also not be a convention in the sense that we know it where they receive instruction, but more of a round table gathering where all are equals. It would make sense too that all anointed would have a say in the messages being distributed via the society literature. As I can see, they have little or nothing to do. Hmmmm...... ???????

Most of you probably don't know or remember this. Delia's Grinders. They used to be around everywhere in Southern California. Used to get em every Sunday after the meetings. Now there's only one left in Riverside that I know of. Still stop in when I pass thru there to visit my Mom. Still my favorite.
