  Under the table job?

  i really don't approve of working under the table, but i understand that, in some circumstances, it is necessary in order to avoid poverty.

  my step son, who receives state insurance (long, long story) and has crohn's and who has just come to live with us, desperately wants a job in addition to going to school.

  if he earns over $260 or some such, he will lose the insurance.

  Depends on his skills and capabilities. You need to look for locally owned businesses and start knocking on doors till you find, and if he has a desire to work he will find someone. Local business owners are more in a position to have someone working for cash and you can be upfront about it. Almost impossible to get a cash job at McD, or Wal Mart.

  In his position, with the insurance, he should work a deal with whoever hires him that some of it will be on the table, even if it 2-3 hours a week, just in case. Just figure the least amount without too much of a penalty from the insurance and get that amount from payroll.

  He can also place printed ads in business entrances who have bulletin boards if he can do work "around the house" for neighboors.

  Awesome Vista Home Premium Hack!

  i'm running vista home premium at home and one of the things about it that sorely disappointed me was the fact that it does not have remote desktop.

  you have to pay a lot more for vista ultimate or vista business to get the remote desktop feature.. today i tried out a new hack that turns on the remote desktop functionality and it worked like a charm!.

  I guess it's not covered in the book but a friend emailed me this:

  You can use the command Prompt to encrypt files and folders.
  
  Use the cipher command to do so.
  
  Example:
  
  Type in command prompt:
  
  "cipher /e c:\" (Without the quotes) This will encrypt Local disk C: with EFS. If you need any other help, type "cipher /?" in the cmd prompt (minus quotes) to display the uses of the cipher command.

  NOTE: MAKE SURE TO BACK UP YOUR CERTIFICATES!!!!!!
  

  I assume you can encrypt different files using their paths.

  i'm going in for a routine checkup at the behest of my partner.

  she was shocked i've never been tested, and i said well i have no symptoms, i wear condoms, and had very few partners, so i didn't think it was necessary.

  Tornados and GOD's providence...

  it's always devestating when a tornado strikes and innocent lives are lost.

  the weather is a formidable force and although great strides have been made in predicting it, it can never be controlled.

  i am always in awe of the destructive force that tornados carry, totally destroying one side of a street and not touching the other.

  my fathr is writing a letter to gb about my childs abuse and the coverup

  had the elders reported the abuse of two other children to the police years ago then the perp would not have got around to abusing my child , they must change the policies on reporting to the police in all cases not just unrepentant paedophiles , any ideas on what he could say in the letter (he is not a dub) we have not had an apology either .

  Sorry to hear that.

  The first step is to talk to a lawyer and not necessarily the police, especially if you have money to pay for a lawyer. Law is about fact but also about procedures and timely filings. Some cases were lost not because of a lack of proof but failure to proceed in a fashion required by law. Go see a lawyer and tell him you want this filed correctly on a legal standpoint and follow exactly what he tells you to do. Please do not take any actions or say anything without legal council. If your lawyer tells you to go to the police, then do it. Don't go running to the police first. Never mind writing a letter to the jehovahs witnesses, it won't do any good. It might release your anger, but that's about it.

  The perpertrator definitely needs to face justice, and maybe if done properly you could get compensated. Only a lawyer can tell you that. If you really can't afford one, then at least someone who has good knowledge of legal procedures, not just some shmuck off the streets

  Upcoming Elders Schooling

  it's no secret that the "organization" has increased it's cia, national security clerance only super-secret attitude in regards to the elder school that is going to be conducted soon.

  a few days ago, i had a conversation with an elder who has been in the fold all of his life practically.

  in keeping with the conversation style of jws, the gentleman told me that nobody knows what exactly will be taught at the meetings, but in his backdoor conversations with some brothers who seem to be tuned into the bethel's officially, unofficial, communications network, the elders are going to be taught "post-armageddon" teachings.

  A Question for those of you who run on Empty gas tanks?

  i am going to guess there are few to no women who do this.

  it has to be mainly guys.....and why take the chance is my question?.

  i never go below 1/3 of a tank and refill.

  A vehicle doesn't run any better on full than on 1/4 tank. I agree that running the tank on low is not good for the system. But most of us guys know how far we can go if we want to push it.

  You mention that you do it in case of emergency, that your vehicle can always be counted on. My question is, how far do you need to go, in case of emergency that requires 1/2 tank. The only emergency requiring a non stop travel, can't stop for gas, that I can think of would be a medical one. So then, enough gas and a little extra to get you to the closest medical center should be your reserve.

  Or maybe the emergency is that your daughter broke her nail during cheerleading practice, and you have to drive two towns down to get it fixed immediately, can't stop for gas, sure you should keep at least half a tank, or keep it at 3/4 to be on the safe side. But then, your car could just stop working for some other reason, ex: flat tire, which will make it impossible to resolve the emergency with your vehicle.

  Why don't I see any pastors or clergy on this forum?

  it just occurred to me that i have never seen a member on jwd who was a minister/priest/rabbi/monk,friar,shamman, etc.

  maybe i have just missed their posts and then again, maybe they don't come here for some reason.

  i know they must come in contact with jw's and ex-jw's all the time.

  I don't know if pastors and christian ministers should be here or not but I do think that the GB should have a representative (meaning a mature christian as they call em) here and other boards on a regular basis. Jesus told them it is their duty to leave the 99 behind and go look for the lost one, also have an answer for the accusers. There's this huge community of lost ones and they know exactly where they are yet don't show up. They'd get flamed for sure but Jesus never said it would be easy either.

  Micky. I understand, I wouldn't want them as neighbours either....strange people...really strange. I don't think he's dangerous, he's just having fantasies but he's not man enough to come up and say it or make a move. He'd want the move to come from you, and since it won't happen he'll get over it and move on to his next fantasy.

  Go with the fence and/or tell them you're ex witnesses, They never hear the ex part, and are scare to death of JW. He might even move his family away from what he considers being to close to the devil's spawn. Tell hubby to go tell him to stop stalking his wife.
