Found Sheep, I'm having the same problems that you are. I got on here just now feeling very depressed and wondering if anyone else felt the same way and yours was the first post I read. This will also be my first one to miss and even though I know it's the right thing for me, I hate hurting my mom and sister. But I can't go just for them. What good would that do? I dreamed last night that I was on the verge of being disfellowshipped. And I don't know exactly what brought this on unless it is because of tonight. But at any rate I'm not going and will be working and hope that this night is over soon. Good luck to you.

Hardly anybody does this, but, INTELLECTUAL HONESTY requires it!
by Terry ini work in a used book store in the religion & philsophy section and daily have interesting interactions with customers.. the layout of the religion section is two separate divisions.
the fluffy side is chri-fi (christian fiction) and christian living books.
the meaty side has bibles, textbooks, theology, hermenutics, reference guides, etc.. i keep a sort of mental scorecard going as to who goes where.. i try and ask subtle questions about why each person is looking for a particular item.. i hardly ever run into anybody of a skeptical nature unless they are trying to prove somebody else wrong.. which reminds me of when i was a good little jw in a bookstore all those years ago.... i'd look up what a book might have to say about the name "jehovah.

I visit a used book store where I live and just love it. I take my books back and they give me a good discount on whatever I buy. I need to check out the religous section and I also need to see if I can find Steven Hassin's Combating mind control cults. Whatever it's called. Really could use help and I think that book might just do the trick. Do you have that in stock?

JW sister told my newly widowed mom that it would "look bad"if
by aquagirl inif i took her to the memorial this year.im df'd for years, but out of love and respect for my parents i always gave them this one night.my mum dosent drive.i was going to drive her and sit by her.i promised my dad that i would always do this for him.he was pretty cool, even tho he was an elder.my "devout" sister {who has never lifted a finger to help my parents}told her yesterday that it "wouldnt look good" for me to show up w/my mum, altho everyone knows that i have done everything for my parents, both before my dad died in december and since.
is my sister just jealous that i have a fabulous life,am beautiful, rich,a guitar god, have excellent cool hair, xray vision, can communicate with aliens and have supernatural abilities?
or is she just mean?lol..btw,i am going.and im taking my mum and we are going to sit in the front row,and yes,im gonna wear velvet.....

You go girl, for your mom. That's just about the nastiest thing I've ever heard of. Do it for your dad as well who is probably watching to see what you will do. It would look bad if you did'nt do it!

Ladies- did you treat the assemblies like a fashion show?
by JimmyPage inwas the major draw for you being able to wear a new dress?
or to put your kids in cute little outfits?
surely it wasn't the mind-numbing talks..

I always bought new clothes, also made sure the kids had new clothes. Also made sure we always had new duds for Memorial. Now when I go shopping I'll look at dresses and then think, "where would I wear it". So I have'nt bought a new dress in quite a while.

I hope I'm not the ONLY one...
by YoursChelbie inis there anyone besides me who would like to get a group together for dinner, maybe at a local tgi fridays?.
there's some faces i would really like to meet again.. i don't think that here in the dallas/north texas area, we've had a gathering in a while.. so if you have any suggestions for a particular day?
we could see when it would be convenient for most people.

What Do You Value in your Life Now that you Exited the Witnesses ?
by flipper ini was talking with a friend of mine on the board yesterday and the discussion gave me the idea for this thread !
( thanks friend !
) and it seems as we were talking the thought came up that many of us when exiting the mind control of jehovah's witnesses we really come to appreciate the freedom to think how we want and be able to have access to other views which helps us to have a broader scope , or broader world view than just the tunnel vision of the wt society.

I think I place more value on my relationship with my children. They are the ones that helped me see the light and get out, so I'm very greatful for that. And I don't have to worry about my precious grandchildren dying at Armegeddon now. What a relief!
