i am a conservative person and still believe that some of the teachings of jws are good though i do not agree with everything that's for sure!

I'm so sorry I somehow missed your very kind post before. Thanks so much for the encouragement, I've looked all over the place for a religion that would somehow fit me and well have looked in vain.

The FDS has broken so many hearts. They have claimed to speak for God as his interpreters of the Bible but have failed to do the very thing Jesus said they should do and that is to have love for the sheep.
They have put their love for a manmade Organization over that for the sheep. They have betrayed us. After years of obedience and sacrifice this is a very hurtful realization!

When I first came here early in 2001 I was looking for someone to discuss scriptural topics. I ran away quickly because I was still active and fear overcame me. Also the atmosphere seemed to be different then.
Today I'm here because I am now inactive and hope to find friends as well as to discuss those things which are important to me.

the latest watchtower, dec 15th 2003, is an out and out attack on the rank and file for dropping into a drowsy state spiritually.
ok, so armageddon didn't come before the generation of 1914 grew old and died.
but does that mean that the big a isn't near?
I have not read that magazine but it does not seem from the quote that the Society is setting a new date outright. It seems they are trying to instill some hope and energy into the brothers.
If though they are trying to point to a date 2034 is too far away for the core workers the vast majority of the long time faithful brothers to look forward to. This would be more discouraging than encouraging to them I think. The Society's younger ones need the older mature ones in their forties and fifties to help them to keep going. If the Society discourages the baby boomers who have waited for so long and who have witnessed the passing of the previous generations I think it would be catastrophic for the Organization.
I find it hard to understand why they act the way they do, since they even act without reason or common sense many times.

I feel like a stranger in paradise, just discovering the beautiful world around me. My JW upbringing taught me to see everything on the outside as bad. Now I see that while not everything is right with the world everything is not all wrong either.
Don't know where this journey will take me but I trust in God with all my heart and so I fear not. I feel somewhere inbetween a JW and non JW. Is there a word for that? Got to stop now because the tears are coming.

You're right though I did not address my theme. For me "out of the mist" means finding my way out of my whole life's misty thinking as a JW and trying to find a new way of life. I guess that's part of the reason why I decided to post here.
