this is my first post, i am using a friend?s alias because i can?t seem to logon under my own.
i have been what?s known on this site as a lurker for the past 2 plus years.. however, i could not resist the opportunity to solicit your feedback on an e-mail i received from a co-worker who is a j-dub.. i no longer consider myself one, although i was in the org.
for 25 years.. after reviewing the e-mail my family and i became quite nausea.. please take a look and tell me what you think.. .
I think it is telling that ones calling themselves christian refer to Jesus as some gunwielding sicko that judges on appearance instead of intentions. I guess many JW's would like to be that farmer, shooting wolves. Now that scares me even more.

recently i have met an old fleet street hack, or newspaper reporter, formally writing for the daily mail.
he has been encouraging me also like many of you here, to start writing a book, which he will kindly be assisting me with, currently he too is looking again to be published soon with a bestseller.
i pondered last night and today have been rather perplexed about what i ought to base the theme upon, for my particular writing style.
I like Mike as a character name... but I have a hidden agenda for offering this name... it is my own...

what a marvelous heavenly organization is revealed by this vision of jehovah?s four-wheeled celestial chariot on the move!
) that chariotlike organization was then on the move, even as it is today.
) if we are jehovah?s witnesses, we must move in the same direction as the celestial chariot.
We apostates will all wind up as Jehovah's roadkill. Too funny!

.
this is sending me crazy - i can not work it out.. http://personal.baker.edu/web2/cdavis09/roses.html#game.
if you don't want to reveal the solution on the board, please pm me, i assure you you won't be "spoiling" it for me.
I had it in one go, but suspected it to be more complicated so i checked several times.
This does not mean I am incredibly stupid ofcourse. It is more a difference between thinking abstractly, mathemetical or more visually. My first question basically was: what is The Rose? if you thought the answer was a computation then you think abstractly. I approached it visually and hit upon a shape rather than a figure. Now stating that visual minded people are less intelligent than abstract people would be silly. The fact that it took the dokter a year doesn't make him a genius either. it tells us how we approach the world, how go about solving questions: starting simple and gradually more complicated or the other way around... I kinda think the docter was hurt in his pride and that hy he stated that if it took you as long as he did then you really must be a genius...LOL So rest assured XJW-B12...

dubs are one of a few unique religions that sprung up from the second adventist movement in the 1800's.
they are unique in that they believe in "greater fulfillments" of prophecies recorded in the bible.
they believe that bible characters and bible groups foreshadowed their equivalent "classes" of people in modern days.
Farkel,
It was known to me as ''Eutyphro's dilemma''. I knew it was from Plato's Dialogues. I read a hard to follow translation that translated the issue as one of 'piety' or 'holiness'. It was hard to read but obvious enough that 'piety' could easily have been 'ethics' or 'morals'. Your sum total explains it quite well. Is 'right' right because God(s) say(s) so or because there is an absolute 'right' (and thus: morals) apart from God(s). Either option has nasty consequences as you point out, God could say rape is right and voila it is right on the one hand, or God is subject to these outside morals, thrashing not only his omnipotency but also makes him accountable for his actions.
I will do a search on your topic about this... sounds interesting!

Some solid reasoning on the prophecy-freewill dilemma Farkel!
Problem is... many dubs and other funny-mentalists dont see this no matter how often you press their faces in it.. I tried several times to explain Eutyphros dilemma (another nice dilemma of a different sort) to a dub... man! That was enough to curl my toes! I just couldn''t find a small crack in his thick skull onto which I could pry the crowbar of understanding to free his mind...
