Elder material? His lack of braincells certainly should qualify him for the job!

just noticed this in the "pay attention book".
it's about what sort of evidence a jc can accept:.
there must be two or three eyewitnesses, not just persons .
that the accused stayed all night in the same house with a person of
the opposite sex (or in the same house with a known
homosexual ) under improper circumstances,
Since 'improper circumstances' is not defined, the elders can deem anything they want an 'improper circumstance'.
I can see it happening:
Elder: Do you deny having sex with Ms B.Boobs ?
Me: YES! We did no such thing.
Elder: I call Ms S.Nobs and Ms G.Ossip to the stand.
Elder: Miss S and Miss G, could you tell me what you two saw?
Miss G&S: We saw Greven and Ms Boobs sitting on the sofa in his house. He was wearing a bermuda and T-shirt and she was wearing a skirt well above the knee.
Elder: Well, Greven do you deny this?
Me: No, what's wrong with sitting on the sofa anyway?
Elder: Well, everything ofcourse! There was no other person inside to supervise the situation, you were of opposite sex, and her skirt was inappropiate for God sake!
Me: So what does this prove?
Elder: That you stayed in the same house with a person of the opposite sex under improper circumstances. Hence, you are quilty of fornicating.
Me: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

if someone told you that they thought the witnesses seemed like good people and that they were thinking of having a bible study with them, would you try to persuade them not to?
would you just keep quiet, hoping they would see things for themselves?.......if you are still a witness (technically), would you subtlely or overtly tell them to run??
?
Simply encourage them to do decent research on this cult. Hear pro and contra examing the evidence, be critical read stuff about cult behaviour and techniques ask if you can read material written by ex-members etc etc.
So in short I would like to help them make an informed choice. Ultimately the choice is theirs.

surely the most significant visible event in the history of the 20th century in terms of biblical importance was not the first world war, nor was it the remarkable acceleration in knowledge and technology, nor was it the restoration of jews to the land of israel.
the most significant event of the 20th century just has to be the events of 1918 / 1919 in the captivity and the release of jehovahs organization from babylonish enslavement.
i say this because so much biblical prophecy was fulfilled in those amazing world shaking events.
RF,
I agree with your sentiments, this period is like a scabbed over abcess!
When I came upon writings of that period I felt betrayed by the GB! They had to know this and still would call it a 'spiritual paradise', the period of the two 'prophet' witnesses, and all that song and dance about those assemblies of 1919, 1920, 1922 and even 1925! If Jesus chose them in 1919 and subsequently poured holy spirit over them, how could they go on preaching millions now living will never die?
If He chose them as channel they sure did a lousy job at getting something right. Why would he pick the channel with the absolute world record in false prophecies? If I have a life saving message for mankind would I use a tabloid paper to distribute it? How would that affect the credebility of the message?

the bug man
The Jehovah’s Witnesses dropped their tracts and ran yelling down the driveway. I
imagine they are still talking about the devil woman who breast feeds snakes.
LOL!
Thanx for sharing!

i've been doing some reading on the zionists lately and there seem to be some interesting connections...needless to say, some of the stuff is politically controversial, but considering probable links between russell and freemasonry and the occult, pyramids and the sundisk, etc., i'm sure some here have further readings and insights into the role that zionism had to play in the wts' early years.
based on the posts i searched for here containing the word "illuminati", i've come to the conclusion that there is probably no links to this secret society vs. the wts.
david icke sneaks a point here or there but mostly he's out to lunch.
Russell and the early Biblestudent were influenced by Zionist ideas and litterature of that period. In Russell's Studies in the Scriptures he frequently speaks about the restoration of Israel, Jerusalem would be the center of the world again and the Jews would be returned to the favour of God. He also delivered a sermon for the jews you might have heard about: Comfort for the Jews. This sentiment continued well into the 1930's attracting Hitler's attention. After that it was quickly abandoned and replaced by mild anti-zionism and anti-jewish sentiments in an attempt to fool Hitler. See for example the Declaration of Facts printed in the 1934 yearbook. Obviously it didn't work.

ok, back to the juicy stuff.... after all that material on pioneering, you might think i spent a lot of time in the pioneer service, right?
actually, i was a regular pioneer for less than a year.
it didn't take me long to get into the habit of fudging my hours (as so many here have indicated that they did).
Talking about micro-management!
SHEESH!
They can't do that now, can they?

When I was doing research on the borg the 1914-1919 era was of special interest because basically their entire theology and authority hangs on this period. I can tell you it is very revealing to read what they actually were preaching during those years and comparing those with current statements on the quality of the food served at that time.
Makes a good laugh, but also makes you aware of how easy it is to mislead poeple once they trust you completely. Which JW has actually read any of the books of that famous era? Which has ever read a single book by the founder of their very religion, CT Russell?
Nice questions to ask when they are at your door next time.

.
how often did they tell us that we should at least once read the whole bible from cover to cover.. i never did that, why, because i was overloaded with meetings and field service, and my job.. did you??
?
As a JW I did not read the bible cover to cover. Later I decided to read the bible for myself and draw my own conclusions. Boy, I wished I read the bible more when I was a JW. I am surprised I even got through the OT, what a vile and evil book this is! With horror I look back to believing any of the stuff in it!
If I want to read fairytales I pick up 1001 nights, which is better written anyway and contains less bloodshed.

" "we're alive!
" i said, "we're alive!
everybody was doing the same thing, hugging and dancing in circles.
And they even dare calling this vile, loathsome message 'The Good News'!
