most of early friday morning was standard watchtower fare...you know, "wear your lapel badge to restaurants and preach to waiters" etc.
but there was some good meat later in the morning during the talk "glorious prophetic visions spur us on".
one point i found interesting was that only the annointed saw christs acsension to heavenly rulership in 1914. no one else.

interesting indeed, especially since these annointed published until 1925 that this happened in 1878. So they 'saw' and knew, bur kept it secret? hmmm.

dubbies part 3
yes, yes, i know, its long overduehope you guys enjoy it!
philidelphius and the woman called mary had arrived back at the new york branch of bethel after spending a brief lunch-hour chatting over a cup of coffee.
at the last district convention, the book "worship the only true god" was released intended to be used along with the "knowledge" book on home bible studies.
both books are to be studied before baptism.
so, what are the 'new recruits' learning?
Yes, but wait! Usually people learn from trial and error....
The society tries and errs all the time, but they don't learn from it, making it even worse.

i've known for years that if i was visited at my home by jehovah's witnesses, i would have become a do not call.
i would have firmly but politely told the witnesses to never come back to my door and bother me again.
since i was raised "in the truth", i learned the religion from infancy.
R_F,
the emphasis of the organization's talks and "encouragement" is to continue believing everything that the "slave" has said because it comes from the "slave" and therefore comes through god.
if you have a doubt, know that it comes from satan.
if you don't understand the watchtower's interpetation of bible prophecy, wait on jehovah and just continue doing what we tell you to do.

If you feel depressed and discouraged, simply DO MORE and you'll have less guilt. If you see that thousands of your brothers are leaving the organization for some reason, ignore that and go to all 5 meetings. If you do what the organization tells you to do, you WILL live on a paradise earth because we are living in the "last of the last days"! So don't stop now. Everlasting life on a paradise earth is right around the corner. Get busy in the preaching work. And before you know it, you'll either be in paradise or dead.
The entire JW doctrine in a nutshell! Good! Greven

I was raised in it. Ironically, my interest in the doctrines combined with logic and critical thinking got me out. Wel sort of...fading actually.

when you become an elder, it's for life.
that's scary, because who wants all that responsibility?.
do you think that brothers with lots of responsibilities envy those that don't have any?.
Having none is better. It is easier to miss a meeting when you have no responsibilities. I had few responsibilities, I did the mikes and occasionally gave a five minute talk. So I couldn't miss Thursday's nights without calling that I wouldn't come (quilt starts playing a role). I was glad they took those privileges away when my hours in service dropped. With responsibilities often comes 'being an example' to the cong, meaning endless hours spent in fieldservice, preparing for meetings and other stuff that keeps you occupied. Therefore having none saves time and reduces the grip the borg has on you. They are called privileges, but function as chains.
county_women: It demands on the question how important you feel when you are appointed I think. When there is nothing else in life to be important in.....
Good point! Funny that, I have experienced this many times: when people have little else in their lives (for example making the religion the sole axis of their life) they tend to fight over these relatively insignificant positions like their life depended upon it. It is their only hope to be somebody, to earn a certain respect. I did not only encounter this in the borg btw, but also on a swimming club I went to. A good message not to be obsessed with just one thing in your life; widen out, extend your horizon!Greven
this goes into the whole football-soccer thing.
i was watching a sports channel last night and an nfl-europe game came on between the scottland claymores and the amsterdam admirals.
the stadium was huge (regular football stadium) but it looked like about 500 people were in attendance.
Like Rado said, little is known about it here in the Netherlands, on TV mostly there is Soccer and currently Darts is becoming popular.
