I don't think you can take anything personal, many people on this board have been through a traumatic experience. I think there are a lot of people hurting in some way or

another. People need to vent and some are now very sceptical of what others say because of what they have had to deal with.

there was an elder that asked me to fix his computer.

i was being nosy and found out he looked at a lot of porn.

he was a nice guy and was at bethel for years... i never said anything about it....

No, he was a "Worldly Guy" but he had a relative that was jw, I guess it was being able to rub it in so to speak..about these wonderful jdubs.

i just got off the phone with my sister-in-law.

we don't talk regularly at all - but today the discussion turned to our beliefs.

she's da'd herself 15 years ago, but she is still filled with guilt over not being able to live up to the standards of the witnesses.

My dad who was never a jw, tried to get me to promise him I would never become a witness...

Boy could of saved 30 years of being a watchtower slave!!!!

Sometimes I think it depends on how much time you did?

I was in almost 30 years so the stuff gets pretty embedded, but over the last 10 years its been way better, once in awhile, just once in while I may question myself. Time

really works wonders and If you have a good support system it makes the transition a little easier. No doubt you've all been helped here on this board. I look forward to reading your

comments on the board.

Thats not a lot of jw's for Canada is it? 111,000 to 32 million pop.. And I would bet that most of those studies are just family studies.

JW woman in trouble

i am not a jw and only know what my friend has told me about the faith.

i saw this website and decided to see if i could get another opinion on this matter.

during the course of my business, i have met and become friends with a troubled woman who was born into a jw family.

This doesn't sound good she has no idea of their financial situation, I suppose she hands over her cheque to him. The thing about women abused they can't see it. Its not

easy to guide them in the right direction. My personal opinion is that the abused has to come to the conclusion themselves that they are abused and admit they need some

help or want the change in order to be helped or accept help.

Happy Family Day to Canadians!

this is a new holiday in canada, and i wonder what "pagan origin" the watchtower society will attach to it in order to get jws to avoid it and to instead spend the day selling books and magazines.

if jws do spend the day in so-called "field service," it will surely draw criticism from their canadian neighbours who appreciate the anti-workaholic purpose and spirit of the day.. .

the elders stood up in the public gallery when the judge walked in

this is something i have just remembered , you know when the court official says "all rise" when the judge walks into crown court , i remember the elders rising along with perps wife and supporters , and victims familys , i did not think a jw would be able to show this sign of respect for a judge , considering other rules and regulations ,anyone know the explanation for that?

also it mentioned in court that the perps brothers and sisters (jws) were supporting the perp who is disfellowshipped but were never in court in person do you think the elders would have told them not to go as it would be a "bad witness " considering he was pleading guilty to some charges of child sex abuse and if so why was his jw wife allowed to show support ?

any elders out there who may know , i didnt get answers from the local elders .

I think it has something to do with just showing respect for the office they hold. ie judge, queen etc...
