Why should I believe the Bible?

i don't ask for myself,but my son said last night that he sees no reason to take any notice of a book written by men over many centuries.. could the believers on here give me some ammunition to shoot across his bows to at least get him to consider the bible's merits?.

i am familiar with the arguments against he bible,and my son is familiar with the wt defense of the bible and is not convinced.. thanks in advance,.

The truth about evolution = another elitist ploy to erode the God given position of humans in the world, ie:

From Evolution to Eugenics to Genocide, simply put. If humans are just another "animal species," then there's no reason to think twice about wiping them out at will. That was basically Hitler's feelings, and the New World Order operates under the same principles.

There's actually quite a bit of good info out there about these things, I've seen some excellent documentaries on TV, but since evolution has never been my hangup, I never pay much attention to the arguments to refute those who have been seduced by it. Sorry!

Yeah, wobble, doesn't sound good. Sorry about that!

I'll take Faith over Higher Education any day.

Since he's already reached that "mature" age with that mindset, it might take him reaching his senior years and bad health (or some other hardship) to make a swing around (not that I wish for it, but my point is people throw God away when they figure they can do it all themselves, until something happens to show them they can't control everything).

All I know is the Word of God really is "alive" and really can "exert power," but if a person has a closed heart (worse than a closed mind), I don't know what will turn them around. God knows, so maybe send some prayers to that effect in His direction?

Hopefully your son knows the WT and its interpretation of things is not the sole sum of what God and the Bible is all about. There's some awesome truths to be learned from the Good Book that most JWs/or exJWs as a rule have yet to even discover.

Is your son already married? Ha, just had the thought that if he met a "real" Christian lady who he admired or liked, there's always a possibility she could soften him up.

I liked Willyloman's breakdown to reality...

But at $700,000, first I'd give 10%/$70,000 divided among my fav Christian non-profits... (no 10% requirement, it's just a nice round figure to work with);

Leaves $630,000...

-$60,000 = Give at least $10,000 each to six siblings

Leaves $570,000

-$100,000 = to go live in a Natural Hygiene health center for a year to regain excellent health

Leaves $470,000

-$10,000+ = get all the amalgam out of my teeth and get the hairline fractures repaired caused by expanding amalgam

Leaves $460,000

-$75,000 = buy an RV to drive across country to get to the Natural Hygiene retreat

Leaves $385,000

-$100,000 = buy some gold and silver and do some midnight gardening

Leaves $285,000...

Leave the health retreat in tip top health shape, then travel back across country in the RV taking my sweet time and enjoy all the scenery, then sell the RV, use whatever remaining $$ is needed to buy a permanent home (no mansions required), a new Toyota to last the next 20 years, and use some to start up my few small business ideas.

If there's any left, give more away and put some change in the bank.

Very strange all around, considering all the strange changes they've been making the past few years.

Still sounds like they are practically disassembling the entire religion itself, one little step at a time.

#4 sounded like a biggie to me, that pioneers get the "OK" from the local elders vs. the Big Wigs in NY.

And opposite to many sentiments, I never met a CO I didn't like, lol... they were all quite a blast to hang out with (1980s):

Paul Moske and wife Peggy - he was the funniest of all the COs, she as so sweet

Hollis Milliken and wife (can't remember her first name, doggonit, hate when that happens) - they both were sweet, I liked them both.

Mickey Erskin (sp?) and wife Shirley - they were cool, too, especially Shirley, but together maybe they were more uptight than the others.

Favorite DO: Dave Thomas and wife, Trujean. I loved Bro Thomas, he was just the nicest dang guy ever! And Trujean was a trip!

It sure would be great someday to hear they all have been awakened and escaped the WT mindtrap.

How old is this son of yours? Are you talking Age 10 or Age 20? Big difference as to what might help between those two ages.

Trying desperately to keep my trap shut about crazy people running after all the New Age stuff, that is nothing short of dancing with the devil himself, who is a very seduction deceiver who, when he is done wrapping his coil around these lost souls, he's gonna bite big and bad. But what can ya do... people are going to do what they want to do.

BTW, I was surprised to see you quote a scripture a few pages back, lol. It was very good and right on.

I'll keep an eye out for the PM... it doesn't look like the Msg. System is totally working yet (no way to tell when a new msg. has been received w/o going up there and scrounging around).

two nice middle aged ladies knocked the door this morning, panda tract in hand.. order of events was panda tract, scripture about each one residing under a fig tree, and then because i didn't object the feb 2009 awake!

'earth designed for life' <side point - note the magazine title is not in the form of a rhetorical question, but rather a statement of fact>.

a few questions about my belief in god and i'm in the book for an rv - cool.. so this is a great awake:.
