Not for Believers - could be hard to swallow
by The Marvster inwell now that i'm a confirmed apostate (a couple of the forum posters confirmed this today), gosh hearing myself say that is a bit frightening.... how the hell did i get to this place, well thanks to anonymity, my 'still in' family don't know this yet... .
after a whole day of watching various people describe their differences with creationist ideas, i'm finally watching this one.... it's tongue in cheek and is hilarious to watch....(this is not meant to mock people's belief in god as such, but more to do with how creationist speculation seems to go against openly available data).
i noticed that some of the arguments made by kent hovind, a creationist evangelist, smells very much like stuff i learned in 'life how did it get here by evolution or creation', and in other publications trying to explain why some phenomena in the solar system etc points to the precision in the universe = there must have been a divine hand... i assume he didn't get the information from jw's, so i wonder who jw's were getting their info from.... well thanks to sites like jwfacts, it's as clear as day anyway please don't watch if you're not ready to take in the copious amounts of data expressed to counter creationist claims... i'm only 20 minutes in and it's pretty devastating to creationist argument, the author of the video encourages each watcher to go do the math themselves where possible, stating even a high school education will give you enough tools to check out the figures and see if they add up.... (oops, that might be a problem for your die hard jw).

Oh, and Freddie Franz says, "Thanks an effing bunch!"
by rory-ks inthe faithful and discreet slave are free to look back now and make a mockery of whatever beliefs were previously held by jehovah's witnesses.. they are also free to make types and anti-types of some parts of scripture, and not of others.
they do that thing where they focus on one part so as to distract from the fact that they are doing the exact same thing with another part.. for example, in his talk featuring the new understanding of the "man with the secretary's inkhorn," geoffrey jackson goes on to say:.
we know in recent years we've been careful not to try and make types and anti-types of every aspect of what the bible says.

How confident are you about various so called facts?
by slimboyfat inno facts about the world are absolutely certain.
that being the case i wonder how others would rank amd rate their confidence in various factual statements about the world.
i am going to rate my confidence in ten items of "knowledge" as a percentage.

Headline: "Islamic Invasion: Europe now scrambles for guns." How true is this?
by cappytan ina year to a year and a half ago, i would have taken this article at face value and believed it.. now, i realize this article comes from a dubious source.
world news daily has a die-hard right-wing bias.
so, in an effort to get real information, i'm asking my european exjw's, is this article all true?

the refugees rioting in Cyprus was particularly disgusting, I was appalled by the lack to gratitude and it cant be very easy for the British service staff supervising them -

I dont seem to mind Splane so much as the rest of the idiots, he seems to be the most natural of speakers yet seems to be allowed the least airtime, yet village idiots Lett and Morris get the most -

Antimatter not so different after all ... poor old Freddy wrong again, another light dims in the JW heavens.
by fulltimestudent inback in the years after ww2, newly discovered antimatter was perceived as destroying ordinary matter, so in one of old freddy's insane nightmares (forget which book, but it was the early 1950's) he envisioned yhwh-jesus hurling antimatter at the hated humans who refused to submit to him, and destroying their bodies bit by bit.. now, his vision dims:.
antimatter not so different after all.

another blunder from the old mad pervert , needless to say he got nothing right, another loon Ciro Aulicino's talk about anti matter cleaning up during the Big A is not even worth commenting on about how stupid he and the talk was, wonder why the idiot didn't look at some basic science in his research -

Which bible character do you hate the most?
by Bonsai inthe more i think about it, the more i feel an extreme dislike for the apostle paul.
he was on par with hitler in his treatment of the jews before he "saw the light".
he replaced jesus teachings of love and mercy with a more legalistic, pharisaical concept of devotion to god.. any evil person can come to believe in god and worship him if the scales were literally and miraculously removed from his eyes.

I'm going for the so called creator, detest it, hate it with a vengeance, a repulsive, bad tempered, almost perverted lust for bloodshed, stubborn, spoilt like a child, petty, stupid, pointless, envious, jealous, bad planner, never thought things through, lacks common sense and logic, yes I hate it/him/her or whatever it is, give me the devil any time. -

I Hate the Sound of the Word Jehovah
by cofty inlistening to clips of the latest manipulative video from the watchtower i realised how much i detest that word - jehovah.. sometimes i have thought it would be interesting to observe a meeting or part of a convention.
every time i heard that word i would be unable to stay in my seat.. i have a visceral reaction every time i hear it.
it stands for so much that i have contempt for.

How to handle invites to dinner after Sunday meeting?
by FadeToBlack ini have not been to a meeting for over a year.
yesterday, when my wife returned from the 1 day assembly, i got an invite for dinner next sunday.
i said i would think about it, to be honest, as nice as the people are, it would just be boring listening to their comments about everything jw.

its difficult, even after my complete fade, inactivity, zero meeting attendance etc my wife would still want to have dinner parties around our place with only dubs there, it got to the stage when I would say that I'll go out for the evening if you invite them around, I'd refuse to go over to any of their places, I kind of felt sorry for her though.
