Do you still believe in God?
by FormerlySandL ini never thought i would admit it, but i don't.
i might superstitiously have some kind of doubt but digging a bit deeper in my heart i really don't believe in god.
as a human i could never just sit and watch people be tortured, live years of abuse, suffer from illness and disabilities and all the other awful things people have to endure day after day without doing something about it.

Your feelings for the former travelling overseers
by Hecce induring our wt life we met a good number of friends involved in the circuit and district work.
i am sure that we share the same experience and that we remember fondly some that we caring, loving and generally interested in the brothers.
at the same time we might remember others that were arrogant, selfish, abusive and oppressive.

out of all the ones I ever met over the years one or two I can say were ok, and thats it just ok, Danny Owens was a mild decent guy and David Carter DO was funny because he was a very charismatic speaker, the rest were jumped up, hypochondriacal,pompous, judgemental and generally just a pain in the butt, even the elders hated them. been looking for this for a while and bingo found it today, seems well up to date and see definitely three congregations from my old circuit no longer exist including the cong of my ex wife, we were married in her congs KH, also the contact and trustees have seemingly upto date email addresses so anyone interested in finding their status as a DF/DA person may be able to request their details. -

What's the purpose of being a JW now?

especially for those who have been in and witnessed all the changes and still no sight of the end.
for these ones in particular (35-55 year olds) they must be in a state of confusion.

it appeals to a certain personality type, how many eccentric, neurotic,narcissistic types have we seen over the years in our jw life, plus another appeal is the sheep like ones, introverted, who love being controlled and directed in almost every facet of their life, plus the old well worn cliché that always comes up; "where else is there to go?" or as my father always used to say " if I was the only jw left on the entire planet I'd still believe it" Its self serving also many use it as a good buisness networking tool, sadly we have to accept it will be around far longer after many of us will have passed. -

A fresh start
by FormerlySandL inafter the worst introduction i could ever make on the forum i would like to reintroduce myself and make a fresh start on the forum and hopefully over time i will be able to redeem myself.
i have changed my user name which was over dramatic and ridiculous in the cold light of day but for transparency and to show i am not trying to hide anything i have adapted the original name and it now has a more positive feel.
after reading a lot of posts on this forum i am feeling more optimistic about my future.

I am leaving the JW's . I am alone and scared. Advice and help needed please

i have been brought up a witness all my life and it is all i know.
i am an ex-elder and pioneer and i don't know anybody outside of the congregation.. i have been unhappy for so long and wanted to leave.

BEWARE - More force adding on FB

they were bragging about how quickly they grew to over 2000 members.
i quickly exited the group.
