Sir82, I thought circuit assemblies or whatever they call them are big money spinners because they use smaller facilities or they either own the assembly halls but the expense of using sports stadiums must be astronomical?

to think of the industrial set up of the new releases back in the day from normal book sizes to bound volumes and The Proclaimers book, we are talking about many hundreds of tonnage of freight, boxes and the volunteers who would work the book rooms and distribution points around the stadiums, now nothing ! surely the days of the Regional Conventions must be numbered

very disjointed didn't come across well at all, it didn't help with the ludicrous nonsense they were quoting from active jw's and the official spokesperson from the WTS, and noting whatsoever as to why they shun/dissfellowship members who have simple disagreements with doctrines and are labelled as apostates in which these kind of programmes never address or research properly when contacting or replying to jw's and official spokespeople

Has Robert Ciranko replaced Don Adams as president of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania ?
by EdenOne inrobert ciranko has been a "helper" of the governing body in the writing department.. don adams (born 1925, presumably 91 years old now) has been president of the wtbts since 2000. .
however, in recent official posts (april 2016), robert ciranko is identified as "president of the watch tower".
does anybody know what happened and if this is an official change?.

missed this, glad I caught it, the appointment of Adams was a strange one, always baffled me.

Let's talk about Don Adams.
by Ray Frankz init's interesting that the person of the president of wtbts has figured lesser and lesser since f. franz era.
i was born in the religion in the 90's and i got to know about russel, rutherford, knorr and franz; but i never knew until a couple of years ago that m. henschel was the president in that time.
the same happens with don adams now, the first wt president from the 'other sheep'.

the power lies with the legal dept and probably the service dept to some degree, the GB are mere puppets, could any billion $ corporation leave decision making to utter buffoons like Lett and Morris?

If they stopped the monthly report card ?
by Chook inwitnessing would cease, would it flow on to attendance numbers at meetings and then total decimation of the church..

I wouldn't go that far, the D2D work has all but finished and they still plod along, a huge percent of the stupid report card is not worth the paper its written, its meaningless in reality

Did Jesus pre exist? Yes or no?
by UnshackleTheChains inwhen i first became a witness, i always found the teaching about jesus being the arch angel michael hard to swallow.
i did however believe that jesus pre existed as a master worker alongside god (the first of his creation).. but now everything is brought into question having watched anthony buzzard explain why jesus could not have pre existed as it is impossible to pre exist yourself.
also the fact that it all sounds contradictory to suggest, he was already alive millions of years before he was transferred to mary's womb to be born as a human - the son of man?.

I had another chat in Croydon town centre yesterday, a very busy town and shopping area, every time I drop by there there is a cart so without wasting anytime I picked up a rag and engaged the two guys , this time I fancied a chat about their blood stance and I went to ask them how long the ban had been in force etc ( they claimed since the foundation of the WTS which I had to correct them on) , they eventually had to admit to my line of the conversation but one of the guys a youngish guy early 20's reasonably bright stated that the transfusing of human blood did not begin until during the second world war and that all blood transfusions consisted of only animal blood! I didn't know weather to laugh out loud( a google search that I did later shows that a physician by the name of William Harvey carried out the first human blood transfusion in 1628! British physician James Blundell carried out the first successful human blood transfusion in 1818 to a patient suffering from postpartum haemorrhage) we had agreed that the prohibition on blood started some time in the early 1950's, I gave them an illustration " you have two young familes in a KH the time was say for example the mid 1940's when blood transfusions are allowed, one of the young children of Family A suffer a terrible accident is rushed to the emergency room of a local hospital is suffering large blood loss and accepts a blood transfusion lives to a ripe old age and no more is ever said about it, fast forward a few years to the mid 1950's, Family B have a young family and one of the children suffers the exact same tragedy as what happened to Family A but because of the new teaching about blood transfusions being banned the young kid dies due to refusing of a blood transfusion," I ask them how unfair is that? by this time they are so tangled up in knots its very very embarrassing , the other guy spouts up that the lad that took the blood "would be dead in gods eyes etc!" I said I think you've misunderstood me, the child of Family A I mentioned took the blood sometime in the 1940's when there was no blood ban, I think he still failed to understand me. Its sad and rather pathetic that the average R&F have such a useless knowledge of a doctrine that is so fundamental to their core teachings.Guess what? they both packed up the cart and bid me farewell an experience I've been seeing more and more of when I talk with them! I commented finally I must be the only guy in town that can make the jw's run away !
