lived in this area for almost 6 years, never been called on, had one solitary leaflet through the door in all that time and that was for a memorial invite in Portuguese! I've seen them down my road twice in all that time and it looked like they were just doing RV's and I'm very much on the lookout if there is a presence of them in the neighbourhood, I do actually hear at times that they are in the area as we have a large council estate in this town, perhaps thats where they get more of a response, the cart is still present in the town centre most days of the week though

Do They Still do Door-to-Door as Much as Before?
by cofty insince the advent of the trolleys do the majority of jws still go door to door like we used to?.
do they still have meetings for field service on sat mornings and sun afternoons where most head off to the local territory while one or two go to do trolley work or has the importance of door to door work reduced?.
with the reduction of printing wts and awakes what will they offer at the doors?.

The Watchtower's Real Crisis
by JeffT inwhen discussing the watchtowers financial problems, i've generally been of the opinion that they probably are not in a real financial crisis.
i've come to believe that money may be something of an issue, but its wrapped up in a much larger problem.
this came to me this morning when reading about the annual meeting.. i think the society's leadership is just plain out of ideas.

great appraisal Jeff, not just lack of ideas but the time has run, the doomsday cult millenniumists have nothing left to tempt the gullible into biting onto the carrot, their time has done.

Door-to-door Going Forward
by berrygerry ini found that the sale (placement) of books and magazines was always a challenge, but it was still attainable.
when the magazines switched from semi-monthly to monthly, magazine calls were automatically cut in half.
return visits that were made "just to say hi" were hugely awkward.. i never participated in the "please watch a video on my tablet" work, but i would imagine that the fail rate compared to magazine placement is massive.. reducing magazine frequency yet again would make me worked up inside.

the prospect of shoving an iPad in someones face and demanding they watch a vid is probably one of the most stupid things they've ever devised and there are many of them, they are just desperate, they lack any logic or common sense with anything they do, their methods of recruitment or starting conversations with the general public will only alienate the public more and damage the tiny bit of credibility they may think they have.

Will they drink the Kool Aid?
by Hecce inas you know the question regarding the “kool aid” is related to the tragic events at guyana and jim jones.
blind obedience and faith in this man resulted in a massive loss of lives.. sometimes we see the same pattern of blind obedience to the watchtower from the witnesses.
this could be on major items or small details.

I think Ray touched on it in CoC, it would be a subject one could never get accurate stats on because no active jw in a million years would stand up and admit to ever receiving a blood transfusion and medical services would never release that kind of data either

Morpheus; quite a lot do take blood secretly, I have a feeling many wouldn't drink the KoolAid and it could see the literal end of them if they ordered it.

Recent JW Literature Trolley Experience
by Athanasius inthe j ws have set up a literature trolley in one of our local shopping centers.
since the goodwill thrift store at the center has an excellent selection of second hand books, i stop by twice a month and buy a book or two that catches my interest.
as a result i've become friendly with the j ws who mind the trolley.. usually the minders are two 70 something j w ladies.

there is a lady who works the cart in my town clinically obese, sits there all morning a heart attack waiting to happen, she is a truly vile person also in the only interaction I've had with her.

2017 Annual Meeting
by Jules Saturn inthis just in from the 2017 annual meeting:.
1. watchtowers and awakes won't be released regularly, at least three watchtower and awakes per year.
6 magazines a year.. 2. a new book is being released: remain in god's love, more of an update like how they did for the what does the bible really teach book.

the reason I mentioned it could be the nail in the coffin for the carts and the usual response is that the carts "keep the R&F busy" the carts can only be manned by a select elite few in the congs pioneers, elders etc, the cart in my town is manned by the exact same handful week after week, the door knocking work is totally finished in the town where I live, I never see them at all, not a leaflet through the letterbox nothing, its clear the GB dont really care about keeping the R&F busy anymore, meetings and assemblies reduced, a less that token effort in the preaching work, apathy levels at an all time high. Surely printing can cease completely now the congs can print the rags and the R&F can print off whatever they need which cant be much at all these days.

got to be a nail in the coffin for the carts, what would be the point? the public couldn't care a less what the latest rags are they are hardly going to be selling like hot cakes the same old rag being displayed for weeks upon end.

Interesting conversation with JW friend
by Jules Saturn ini was withh a friend of mine who is a jw still and for whatever reason we started talking the bible.
i asked him about lazarus and how is that when he died he paid the price of sin, but then jesus resurrected him.
and i asked him "where is lazarus today?

I cant see how anyone could be ever resurrected twice, it just goes all realms of sense
