Ruby do you think the 55% that go back is a hunch or a wild guess? you've not quoted any sources to confirm this, their own worldwide reports especially in Europe/Australia/USA/Japan and many more first world nations show that their growth is so minimal its laughable , how many nations have reported zero/minimal and negative growth rates? how many countries are consolidating and liquidating and merging KH's? how much real estate in terms of branch facilities and KH's have they sold off in recent years? 55% return rate is very substantial amount indeed and would reflect that they are a booming group in regards of new recruits also, I think you've just plucked this 55% figure out of thin air, I believe there is a far easier and genuine stat if you search for those that have/are leaving and are never returning ,in my earlier post I mentioned the amount of exjw's from my age group that left during the 1980's/90's and I cant think of any of them why have returned and it is quite a substantial figure indeed, I believe like me you are UK based, that would contradict your "55%" return rate with just the group of people I know which if I put my mind to it would probably be a good 200 or so.

Over 300 DFed apparently went to a northern U.K R.C!
by Isambard Crater inthat's what i've been told by a family member (elder) who went to one of the regional conventions in the north of the u.k lately, who told me the 300 or more disfellowshipped who returned to jehovah by attending show that the end is so close, just like the final talk says..

certainly not the case when I look at the amount of ex jw's that are of my age group and that left during the 1980's/90's , I cant think of any that have gone back, we've all got on with our lives and moved on from those times, and how on earth can it be a gauge that we are close to the end? I would have thought there could have been a slight increase of inactive/DF'ed ones coming back during the 1975 fiasco and the end of the millennium, using guilt yet again. -

Set the record straight!
by Colinconfused ini would like to state publicly, on this forum, i no longer hold the views i had a year ago.. with much thought, research, study and logical examination i have come to a better understanding of my beliefs and where i stand on all these issues.. i'm very happy to announce i have returned to healthful teaching of the holy scriptures and i firmly believe that the governing body of jehovah's witnesses is the faithful slave.. sorry if i have contibuted to any kind of stumbling and know that if i can turn things around then there's hope for all who come to there sence.. phill4:6,7.

Is the End right around the corner or what???
by Lynnie ininteresting observations i've noticed when visiting my uber elder cousin and his wife.
he just inherited a lovely home on the water on puget sound from his non jw dad who passed away earlier this year.
so they have spent many $$$ and months remodeling this house to their standards which are quite expensive tastes.

bit morbid isnt it talking about a "death car" I suppose it all depends how old they are, one thing is certain though no matter what age the car reaches they as will every single person living on the planet will at one time pass away.

Born Ins, How Did Your Parents Get "The Truthâ„¢"?
by pale.emperor inborn ins are in a unique position in that we never knew any other way of life.
no birthdays, christmas and overly superstitious family just seemed normal.
when my parents talked about their pre-jw life it seemed like they were talking about completely different people (actually, that's true, the cult had taken their real selves).. so i'd be interested in hearing how your parents were indoctrinated.. my dad.

there is one thing all of us have in common with our parents/grandparents/great grandparents converting, being duped and lied to with this con is that not one single thing these charlatans promised came true, everlasting life, the paradise, resurrection, Armageddon, it would be laughable if it wasn't so pathetic.

these "Special Talks" have been becoming more and more of an anti climax as each year passes, whats the betting they could be phased out completely in the coming years? The last special talk I listened to was from a post on here, it was boring, stupid, dull and full of urban myths about how their work is being blessed etc.

the old man had a group of mates in which one was called on and started a study this would have been in the mid 1960's just before I was born , two others followed suit, my mum followed shortly after with a study with the wife of the original jw who contacted my dads mate, the jw died some years back whose own son ended up as the PO of my old cong and a real tosser he was to, he had three other daughters one my age who fell away about the time of my fade in the early 1990's the other younger daughter fell away also, my old man died in 2005 (an elder) as far as I know the other two stayed faithful one became an elder for many years. When I look back over the years at the guys who were about my old mans age who became elders its surprising to think how many of them fell away, old school hard nosed elders who one would have never expected.

Hi from England
by victimofdeceit inrecently quit being a jw because i realised that beyond armageddon i was going to be ruled by people who cover up child abuse, not telling the congregations by their letter where the money they donated in the box is going towards paying compensation for legal battles which they caused, and also i was bullied by elders and discriminated against for being homosexual, even though i am not practicing it.
it wasn't until i threatened legal action for a breach of confidence that the elders were deleted.
so through the media and my own personal experience, i realised that they were no different to corrupt businesses in the world.
