The Bible as inerrant and complete, or sufficient.

i think we will agree that the wt holds it that the bible is the inerrant word of god.

this is an idea that i just learned from a blog.. the idea is very, very simple:.

the bible is considered "inerrant" and "sufficient".. meaning, it contains no errors, but it is also all you need for salvation.

Could "this generation" simply be the generation of fleshly humans

i was thinking about that and the crazy confusion of generational rangling being handed over by the gb.. maybe jesus simply refered to fleshly humans as a whole generation knowing he would be the first fruits of a "new generation" of spiritual creatures.. the gb have tried to rework the generational mess but it doesn't improve the outcome.. it would make more sense if we considered that the great crowd (new generation) were in heaven instead of on earth.. again just kicking things around!.

what yall think?.

Ah....

"Generation" has many meanings in our language and also in its uses within the bible.

For the Watchtower to "emphasize" a specific generation in the midst of such wide and varying definitions of "generation" is misleading to their followers.

And brings to light the controling aspect of their doctrine.

I'm glad the bible has errors. It leaves room for holy spirit to work with our intelligence to figure things out.

If it were inerrant and perfect it would be a "law over man" or a burden which many religious leaders make it now.

The bible is more than its words. The act of opening it, reading, holding the book, attempting to get God's understanding, and all the other little processes it takes to just read a book opens up a focus that not even scientists quite understand.

Maybe its a form of meditation to read. Not really sure, but I like it. So you end up getting something out of it although you may not fully understand the words. Hell, it was written over 2000 years ago and a much different time. Of course you wont get it right off. Not a reason not to try.

The bible has errors. Im glad about that. What I don't like is manipulative people coming in and exploiting those errors to their benefit.

Looking for online tv/movie streaming like netflix, etc.

i have a sub to netflix, but i think it is a rip off.

they raised their prices and i am in the market to find some kind of website with a reasonable fee charged to view movies or tv shows only.

i don't need the dvd rental anymore.

February 2010 Study Watchtower - Millions Now Living 'May' Never Die

just noticed that in the february 2010 study edition of the watchtower, they refer to the "millions now living will never die" talk in 1918, but they have changed the title to "millions now living may never die".

only problem, they included the picture of the invitation to the talk, which says 'will'.. ooops.

it's on page 16. enjoy.. .

Just did a search for the terms "millions living die" and found this thread.

I just had a talk with my mom, who is, in my opinion, a liberal Jehovah's Witness.

The statement "Millions now living may never die" is so provokative. Even with its softer version of may.

It ultimately seems to be the basis, whether consciously or unconsciosly, of the belief system of the devout and backsliders in the borg.

At the very least its a gamble because this religious organization is the only one offering life. Now that my mom is up in age, she continues to go because she thinks what she does will give us a better chance at life. No matter what her kids might believe.

I didn't realize that fully until tonight.

I see their pleasantly worded statement as befuddling as Satan telling Eve, "You positively not die!"

Now I see that the witnesses are continuing to strongly promote the idea as recently as Feb 2010?... Maybe they know how deep in the psyche this terminology goes.

Sorry to post this late but I am discovering further how this organization can control even those that consider themselves liberal.

i kinda figured i would read many negative things concerning jw, i was not disapointed............ i say if you ae not happy not just in the jw, but anywhere, life it too short move on.. .

i myself am a wittness, an anointed witnes .

there is no shame is sharing yr hope and i am varry happy with mine.

I love these stories!

I am 2nd Generation. I grew up around it for 20 years. Then went all in for 15 years.

Around year 13, I realized I was a terrible witness. I just couldn't find the love I was reading about in the Watchtowers. The love either in myself for the ministry or the love inside the congregation.

I decided and made a conscious decision to study like my life depended on it. The best way in my head was to go to the "source"... the bible.

I picked it up and just started to take it in. No watchtowers and no helps other than the scriptures.

After reading for a bit, I noticed some things that me and the bible agreed with but the WT was of no help.

So I broke protocol and went online to check some ideas out. That is when I ran into more information than I ever expected. The rest is history.

I always say that the feeling of doubt is just your brain starting to work. I just took the chance to go down the rabit hole.
