OMG jgnat...
I could have so used that advise 4 years ago...
hello all at jwn!
i have been a lurker here the last few months and have been going through the process of researching both sides of the story of jehovahs witnesses.
i was raised in the borg, got married and now have a young child.. my wife is very much dedicated to the organization and will justify anything the "slave" does putting it off on the borgs imperfection.
OMG jgnat...
I could have so used that advise 4 years ago...
i am over here in south dakota on vacation, the last time i saw all my relatives was during my grandmothers funeral which was about 2 years ago, during that time i was still in the borg, yesterday i was visiting all my non jw relatives and they were all shocked that i have changed in a positive way and they all know that i have left the borg, my aunt told me i am alot more happier and have alot more self confidence, i still have family members in the borg my 2 brothers and sister and parents who all shun me on a certain level and also i told all my relatives what i have gone through after leaving, i told them about the shunning, during christmas i called my dad and i was told that i am not allowed over at their house and my dad hung up the phone and didn't even say goodbye also at the time my roommate was listening to the conversation since i had my speakerphone on and she was very shocked about the shunning.. i want to say thankyou to all the people who have helped me mentally out of the borg, all the youtube videos that people have made, plus jwn, if it was not for the internet i would have still been in the borg, i have to say the internet is one of the most greatest thats how i did all my research and totally clearing out my mind, also now i have some new skills, i have learned how to do critical thinking, plus also have learned so much more about the world around me, because i slightly suffer from a form of autism i have been able to work at that more and now understand so much more about people around me and also have made alot of new friends:).
Thanks for that Andys! I can relate so much to what you wrote. I wish I had said it. LOL!
i attended a recent ministerial servant k m school on the east coast and the main school instructor mentioned among other things (part entitled: 'objective of the km school course') that the total number of ministerial servants is seriously less than it should be.
in times past the ratio of m ss to elders was much more than it is today.. in the u.s. apparently the total number of elders is 88,500+ as opposed to m ss 65,000. the numbers show & numbers don't lie: the society is running out of spiritual men.
the instructor stated that this is a new downward trend that has (in so many words) the society worried.. the next speaker (part entitled: 'why we must be spiritual men') added that in his years as a traveling servant the pool of m ss has always been much, much larger than it is today.
Numbers don't lie.
In my little micro-cosm, I was 35 when I left. Heavy grooming for MS was the order of the day. They wanted me to study more and I studied the bible right out of the Watchtower! LOL!
Happily out for 4 years and counting!

just plain old corporate denial.
let the games begin.. .
Ok... just got pissed!!
"The individual members of any organization must ultimately bear the responsibility for their own actions, particularly when the acts are so flagrantly against the morals and principles of the organization and society."
The suggestion that they have nothing to do with an individuals decision is sickening. Its double speak. I was flippin baptised not in the name of the father, the son, and the holy spirit... but in recognition of being one of Jehovah's Witnesses... Your individuality is washed off of you in your baptism. You come up out of the water, not a son of God, but a flippin cult member.
If that ain't a guilt trip placed upon your very soul, I don't know what is!!!
hi, .
i am an ex jw and moving to canada tomorrow, montreal exactly, anybody around to meet up?
.
I find this part of french quite beautiful...
in the past i've compared the wts to slavery, but this book validates what i've come to know about this organization.. .
'cuz slavery ain't sweet, no matter how faithful and discreet.
jesus states: "....the truth will set you free.
Very good wasblind!
Due to the nature of slavery, slaves were cattle and could easily lose their life for stepping out of line. Thus it is with most Witnesses. Their own lives are in jepardy if they question the leadership.
See this is why I come here. Its like oil for the ole brain gears!
just wondering if anyone has uploaded this talk anywhere?
i am assuming it is saturday inculcate god's word in little hearts?
i am really curious what the gb is telling folks to think about this thing.
Thanks Wanna... I just jumped around the recording.
It does have this sugary sweet feel to it. Same as it ever was, just irritating to hear it. And to think, I once considered going to one of them again. GAG!
i`m just wondering if their stumbling from one disaster to another in their belated efforts to embrace modern technology , smart phones , the web, twitter , pc`s, you tube , social networking ,etc.etc.
is really going to be their demise in the long run .
i know they frown on higher education , but the gaffes they have made in recent years is getting beyond the joke.. ignorance can be excused to a degree , uneducated people can be excused to a degree, but plain stupidity, cannot !
I would love to see one of those cell phone commercials with the speedy internet in response to a knock at the door from a Jehovah's Witness on Saturday morning.
*Householder has phone in hand*
Witness: "Would you like to live in peaceful world, without wars and famine?"
Householder: "That magazine is so 46seconds ago! I have the one from two months from now. And, oops, new light! You dont have to preach anymore! sorry!"
how much interest has this little critter caused lol, so many threads created in his honor.
the dubbies probably won't even take the time to watch the dvd, they'll just be so happy that the dc is over for another year.
shame really because it's such an eye opener.. peace.
Battle royal! Jehovah vs Sparlock!
Gooo Sparlock!
At least I get a plastic toy and none of the guilt!
one of the things i noticed in the two new brochures for the public is how the couch the modern day origins of jehovah's witnesses.
"in the 1870's a small group of bible students began rediscovering long-lost bible truths.
" - good news from god.
Watchtower history is something they are not proud of. Im amazed they mentioned it at all. Still the short blurb seems to want to establish the fact that the religion has stood the test of time. Conveniently not hinting at the immense changes that have went on since the 1870s.
