It is nice to have you on board with us. I hope you find some new friends here. I used to have a pen-pal from the Netherlands for many years, but we've lost contact now. (That was back in the days of pen, ink, and stamps!) I also am mono-lingual, but understood your English just fine.

(Somehow we've ended up with 4, and feed at least five more on a regular basis in the neighborhood.) I do in-home care for elderly and disabled people as my career. Denied re-instatement

i am curious: how many of you also experienced this, as i did?

prior to my own experience i had never known of anyone who had "served their time," attended meetings regularly, and in everyway demonstrated a good heart, being turned away.

but then, i guess i wouldn't have, would i?.

I've recently been put in contact with an old JW friend who is presently inactive, but still believes. He's refused to shun me. (We lost contact 12 years ago after my df'ing as I moved out of his congregation.) At least until he gets caught, then I might not ever see him again. . But since no one pays him any never mind, that is probably not too likely. Anywho - he has been df'd in the past. I'm going to have to ask him if they made him make multiple requests. Boy, in all the articles about the "loving" act of disfellowshipping, they sure make it sound that they are more than ready to receive you back with open arms. Such twisted liars!

Back then, I believed JWs were God's organization - although I never believed that you had to be JW to be saved, only that it made it more likely. Perhaps that is why I could walk away after the rejection, although not without a great deal of pain. I think I also had the advantage of not having close family members shunning me. For those facing that it must be 100 times harder. And how much more unloving to delay welcoming them back!

The thing was, that I was straight forward. I actually imagined that God's elders would be as well. When I bore my heart, and they said they didn't believe me, I believed them to be expressing what they truly thought. It was out of my hands. They either believed me or they didn't. There was nothing more I could do that I hadn't done already.

I am hurting......and it is not because I want to go back. I DON'T........And I couldn't if I wanted to: my eyes are opened now. It's the knowledge that they have the audacity to inflict this kind of pain on people, and then judge their supposed motives by how they squirm. It is sickening. I literally want to vomit.

Freaking mind F***ers.

Yes, I (we) do know. I am assuming that is why we are no longer WTS conformist. I also can't help thinking that the increased secrecy of the WTS is to try (lo, they shall not suceed!) to protect themselves from those that will critisize them as they begin to either:

A) become more an more absurdly controlling, or

B) suddenly sway in a direction appalingly different from what they've previously taught.

If B, becomes the case, there is going to be a tremendous weeding of those that buy into the myth that the WTS = God; and those that actually have a conscience before God. It is going to be very interesting to watch.

I have one more thing to say, "STOP PICKING ON ~~BRITTNEY~~ TULA! She doesn't deserve this! I mean it! STOP IT RIGHT NOW!!".....

In all seriousness, I know you guys are having a good time poking fun at what seems like farfetched and unconceivable ideas; but I, for one, want to hear what Tula has to say. I have seen some support to what she is saying even in mainstream media. I'd like to listen and then come to my own conclusions about whether there is any truth to it. I think this is a higher road than closing my ears, only to later wish that I had heard at least some of it.

My First Counselling Session. EDMR anybody?

so it hadn't escaped my attention that two weeks ago i was melting faster than a snowman on a lava flow path.. i had to do something.

i ended up in hospital.

i hoped this would mean i'd get help, not just medication, which i've tried for 6 months and hasn't really helped.

I had some out-of-the-box treatment a number of years back when going through PTSD, DID, manic/despressive episodes, etc. I don't know if my treatments were similar to what your therapist is recommending, but it did seem to help me. It was not that the treatment caused my traumas to be locked up again. It was that my body was allowed to reacted less strongly to the confussion in my mind, and the chaos in my heart.

I never recieved hypnotism from another person, but I discovered through research, that I had been doing self-hypnotism without even realizing it. It was just a matter of me asking myself question after question, as they occurred to me, and then allowing my mind to bring up the answer from my subconscience. It would have been much better for me to have had a therapist helping me through this, but my counselor (at the time) was a total dumb s**t. I journaled extensively during this time as well, which I'm sure you do, too. It helped me wade through the tempests of conflicting thoughts and emotions. Although horrifyingly painful much of the time, the end result was the release of fear and all the tensions - mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual - that were bonded to the fear.

It was a long, slow journey that I thought would never end. But somehow I arrived at a place that is home to me. You are strong - even though you may feel weak and vulnerable. The fact you are even on this road of recovery speaks volumes to your inner strength. Jesus has work for those of us that make it through our own suffering. There are many coming behind us. They need us to lead the way.

If you had a Time Machine would you stop yourself being a Witness???

what if you wen't back in time and stopped your mother from opening the door to the witnesses...and your family never came into the truth!!

what if you risked changing everything else in your life...not having kid's or the same marriage partner...would it be worth it.

I would have to answer, "Definately not." JWs came into my life at a time I desperately needed spiritual guidance. As an incest victim I was headed straight towards risky sexual behavior, probably prostitution, drugs and drink - all at the ripe age of 11. The JWs were the loving family that I didn't have at home. And thank God, there wasn't any perverts in my congration that saw me as an easy mark. I just can't imagine what that would have done to me.

But I'll tell you what I would do different: A) I'd have listened to my high school teachers and gone to college on scholarships instead of being 100% certain that pioneering and marriage were all my dreams fulfilled! B) I would have done anything to keep from moving back to my husband's hometown after we had made a hard but briefly happy life together away from (for the most part) his ...........(I don't think I can use any of those adjectives)........uber-dubber family. C) And if that didn't result in a reasonably happy family life for us and our sons, I would have gotten away from the marriage and sought help for my children much, much sooner than I did the first time around. D) And if that course of action resulted in my leaving the WTS sooner - Well, AMEN!

Who knew? I guess I'm just not into the mind f**k. They said they didn't bellieve that I was repentant. I knew that if they didn't believe I was repentant on that day, there was no day in the future that would ever be any different. You'd think willingly submitting to nearly a year of humiliating isolation would be more than sufficient to demonstrate that one is serious about the matter. Just imagine that JWs actually were the only way to God? (Or that I hadn't figured that one out?) What was it Jesus said they could do with that millstone?

The really, really sad thing is that there are many, many who are not the survivor that I am. In those cases, there is blood guilt.

Fun and games at the KH

the cong i grew up in during the 70s had an exceptional elder who was born for showbizz.

our service meeting parts were sooo fantastic they would not be believed by todays automatoms.

we had mini dramas to show how to use the truuth book, dressed up as scrooge from charles dickens novel and with "ghosts" of christmas past and present to represent old religion and new.

Sounds like a blast! Can you even imagine anything like that today?! How unbecoming in the house of Jehovah! (Apparently, some thought so then, too!) GB just keeps squeezing their fists a little tighter.

Do you remember when VCRs were going to turn us all into pornagraphy watchers? After all what movies did we need to view at home that we couldn't see at the public theater? Man, I felt sorry for those that had purchased a VCR prior to this talk! Here they were excitedly inviting the friends over for popcorn and a movie on the new gizmo, and they are suddenly viewed with suspicion! There was more than one VCR that went back in the box!

Is it "Healthy" for every JW to think alike like they do....

This is a bad thing?

Biblical unity is NOT defined by everyone having the same thought and practice regards matters of worship. Read Romans 15:1-7 in context with Romans chapter 14. It is clear that unity occurs when disciples consult and listen to their own personal conscience, and make the choice that they personally feel is right before God, AND do NOT judge one another's choice, nor push their own viewpoints on other believers. THAT is Christian Unity. Drop the cookie cutters!
