  What determined the path you took once you came to your senses?

  i have been reading a lot of posts over the past few weeks and noticed how some folks have taken the atheist/agnostic path, while others have replaced their zeal for the society into one of another faith.

  what led you to take the path you did?.

  for me, i just began doing a lot of deep thinking and trying to come to the most logical conclusion based on the facts that i had before me.. as a result, i have taken the agnostic path because it makes the most sense to me.

  Reading trashy bible verses like the one you quoted and realizing how horrible the god of the bible is - that is, if one takes him or her literally.

  100% atheist here.

  I don't like saying never, but I will never serve the god of the bible.

  ok so today i met my new psychiatrist.

  my old one retired recently and i hadnt seen him in months anyways.. much to the delight of the "edlers"... but i will discuss that later.

  i would not mind so much having to go if it werent for the fact that i have to reinterate everything important that ever fappened to me.. great, that is the way to make peoople feel better, bring up all the other horrible shit that happened to them in the past.

  Be very afraid of meds. I was on them, and was a walking zombie. Turns out I needed meds for one reason - I was in a cult. Once I left the cult and weaned myself off the meds many years later, I was free.

  Looking for some help about marriage

  hope this isnt a repost, couldnt find anything on the subject.. have a friend who is marrying a jw.

  he isn't a jw but she is (even though she doesnt really go or believe in it), her parents are strict jw's but wont goto their wedding cause of something about being unevenly yoked?

  now they both want her parents to go, but the parents tend to think they are not allowed to go.

  Booze is the only thing holding most people in. I cannot stress this enough! It's they're ultimate coping mechanism.

  How Long Did It Take You to Realize It Wasn't "The Truth"?

  i see some posters still aren't 100% sure that the jehovah's witness religion might not be "the truth"....was there a moment when things became very clear for you regarding this religion?.

  It took about two years for me when I started to have doubts. The red light for me was the lack of love - and I just couldn't get my head around that one, especially since they were the 'happiest people on earth' (tm). I knew 'the truth' was not 'the truth' for quite some time, and I was just looking for a good exit strategy and the balls to actually do it. It's hard to make that step out - and I can't be thankful enough that I did it. Life was hard for a time, but now I cannot imagine being a cheap-suit wearing dweeb with low-self esteem friends.

  russell controlled it and made provisions in his will for what would happen to the watchtower in the event of his death.

  russell's writings, theology, teachings, predictions and intentions were attractive to those who joined his bible students movement.. fred franz signed on as a baptised adherent of russellism in 1913 because he was strongly attracted and persuaded by russell's message.

  many on this board know that i am not a jw, never intend to become a jw, but yet i am a christian and my hearts longs for jws to get the real truth.

  they did their little spiel about the world ending, troubling times, etc...i let them finish this spiel then they asked "do you agree with it?

  It's unfortunate that you long for them to get the real truth because they just don't want it. It's impossible for 90% to accept they are in a cult. Personally, I don't worry about them at all.

  I loved your comeback - couldn't have said it better. It still didn't phase them, in all probability.

  in all my years of studying douchebaggery, never have i encountered anything like this.

  its such pure and unadulterated douche that i wish i could bottle it and use just a drop of it at a time.. the back story on this is that a girl named olga was out with her friends in the marina district of san francisco (known for being a popular hang out for douches), and she talked to this guy named dmitri for all of two minutes.
