Even though I identify myself as Wiccan I attend a Buddhist temple service every Wednesday night (except this quarter I have night classes). It is the same thing, chanting to start, meditation, walking, meditation, chanting, then a Q&A session where you can ask any questions you want and the master there will try to answer them. Buddhism is far more cerebral than other religions. I also like that there is no hidden agenda. It is also a plus that they aren't interested in converting you or telling you that your beliefs are wrong. Also, after a session I just have this total feeling of calm. All the stress just goes away.

It's ok Ravyn I find the Bible and Christianity to be more offensive than most anything on this planet. Funny that people bag on the site but make no comment of the sillyness of their book.

It is often in the vein of agriculture. Such as Beltane, Ostara (easter), and midsummer. While there seems to be more reverence given to the moon and lunar cycles the sun is still important. It is often seen as the God aspect.

Whenever I run into JW that shun me
by Sadie5 ini haven't been df or da, just left.
i run into jw's in restaurants, grocery stores and on the street and they act so stuck up, or give me a dirty look if i smile at them and say hello.. i then think to myself, what reason do they have to act so arrogant toward me?
they support a religion that promotes the secrecy of child molestation.

I've been shunned a few times in public by my "friends". Usually I would laugh out loud at them and they would get embarassed at the draw of attention.

The question is, 'Now that you know what the Matrix is do you really want to go back?' It would be great if I could live in my fantasy world as well. The only thing being a JW requires (like almost all religion) is obedience. Even a dog can be obedient. Are you no better than a dog?

What if the US loses?
by Robdar inwhat if we lose the war with iraq?
i watch the news and all commentators act as if our winning is a given.
yes, we are the biggest, baddest nation; we have the nukes, but what if?
-
gsx1138
We're not going to lose militarily but why is it that that is all people can see. What we will lose is our fake moral high ground. After this war anyone who attacks us is justified. All they need to say is that they percieve us as a threat. They can say, "They have weapons of mass destruction and have used them. They have pre-emptively struck other nations. We viewed them as a threat and acted accordingly."
Bush just loves to wave his cock at the rest of the world and really believe he doesn't care about the average American.

God's Name?
by seeking_truth inanother question for everyone.

I believe Francois had a good quote for this subject. I think it was Lao Tsu. Something to the effect, "The God that can be named is not the eternal God."
