Middle of the Night Thoughts

i wish they were of sex...... as i lay in bed last night, feeling like an alien was in my stomach, i thought of a few things.

since i seem to be posting fluff all the time, i decided to put my thoughts on to paper.

1. subjection-i saw this posted somewhere in the last few days on another jw only board.

I call it vagina fear. Also, this is what happens in a patriarchal society. I'm sure the elders would have a heart attack now (along with Muslims), my wife works and I stay home with my kid. Most males are raised that they have to act and believe a certain way so don't be too hard on us. I'm the oddball out in that I don't give a crap about the mor'es (sp)of society. I do find it funny that most religions blame women for the mans lack of control. Of course if I'm horny I'll just come out and say it and perhaps act on it. Religion has seen fit to set up rules that go against our natural biological inclinations and then blame women for us having them in the first place.
I did always notice at the KH how Eve was vilified with hardly any mention of Adam. As if some how in their metaphore for sex (adam and eve story) it was Eve's fault.

in part i we covered one of the main reasons many former jehovahs witnesses doubt the existence of god.

in part ii i will explain my view of another influence, more wide spread that affects most of the western world.

I'll pray to the Goddess and ask her how she feels about you not believing in her. I'll ask her how she feels about so many people who have rejected her because of a book that equates to an ancient National Enquirer. I'm so blunt because your beliefs only pertain to you. By the way jst2laws nice little threads you've got going. Well written and they bring up interesting ideas.

which is worlds most civilized nation?.

what do you reckon, if there is indeed such a thing as the most civilized country.. to be civilized means:cause to improve from a savage or primative form of human society to a more developed one.. so that rules out any country that allows its inhabitans to run round armed to the teeth.. the country would need good standards of living, and education.. laws that allow maximun freedoms without impinging too much on other people.. good safty codes and regulations and good care for elderly .. so who is doing it best in the world at the moment?.

Tonga has serious racial and political tensions with Samoa. My friends family is pretty infuential in Samoa and they ran down the history of the two peoples. It's not all flowers and sandy beaches.

Ouch, Matty. I live in the U.S.A so I can tell you my country wouldn't be on that list. I've been impressed with Hollands laws. I would say Tibet before the occupation. I would say Okinawa as well if it wasn't for the good ol' USA screwing things up over there. Tough call. I think for the most part there are people in the US gov. who want to do good around the world. But as it stands my country has become nothing more than a virus with the illusion of oppurtunity.

Very interesting site. Most definitely not for those that don't like someone to disagree with them. I do have my problems with most skeptics (not all). I get the sense that they think they're important enough in the grand scheme of things to require physical proof of what others believe to be true. This just seems kind of egotistical to me. However, we do need skeptics in the sense that it is always good to have another point of view on a subject. Whether you agree or not is up to you.
Of course this site helps me as I seem to be the target of militant christians in my class. It is always good to have some of their own ammo to fire back at them.

Ok, being human I will have my opinions. If at any time I said someones beliefs are wrong I'm sorry. I believe there to be a large difference between saying, "I see where you're coming from I just don't agree with you." and "You're wrong because the bible/koran/tao te ching/kaballah says so." It would be like me trying to prove your beliefs are wrong by using the Koran even though you're Buddhist. They have nothing to do with each other. My chosen path is quite difficult in a christian dominated country and I get my share of you're a Satan worshiper because of this passage in the Bible. I use that as a real life example of how people constantly use the apples and oranges comparisons.

You're correct I haven't been on this board long. I would just expect common sense to prevail. Most of us have been bound by an intolerant religion in one way or another. I guess I think blasting someone's beliefs with a preconcieved notion that everyone should agree with you is just plain ignorant.

If the Bible is the word of God there would not be so many inconsistancies. Why do so many feel the need to base their entire belief system on a book written by men. You don't have to believe the bible to get some good out of it but there is also allot of bad as well. It seems to me that many christians want to elevate the Bible to the status of God. When you take an all or nothing attitude you set yourself up for failure.
I don't believe the Bible is the word of God because allot of the stories are directly taken from earlier Pagan religions. The story of Noah, the Last supper, the resurrection of Jesus are just a few stories that were around hundreds of years before they were applied to christianity. I believe the bible is a book written by men who were trying to explain God as best they could at the time and were driven by their own interests as well. An atheist comes here and posts their views and all the christians have to jump him. It's as if any view that opposes yours makes yours invalid.

Starting College -- HOORAY for ME!!!

i am just so excited.

earlier this week i applied for admittance to my local community college and today i registered for my first class!.

(one class for the summer session to see how this college stuff plays out.).

Grats, I'm a 32 year old current college student. I have to agree with some of the above. Just the gaining of knowledge about all kinds of different subjects makes college well worth it as long as you have a realistic goal. Don't expect to make a buttload of money with a degree in political science or elizabethen poetry. Have fun, I know I am.

From a Wiccan point of view. Everything is up to us. Our choices are what drive the future not some grand master plan. After hearing U2K I'm glad I don't believe in the bible anymore. Ascribing petty human emotional traits to an omnipotent being seems absurd to me. If your God knows the future before it happens then why does he get mad when we make the wrong descisions while he knew the outcome anyway.
There are many logical reasons not to believe in the Bible or Jesus. Does that mean don't be a christian? No, because again spirituality and religion are not the same thing. There are some very good ideals within the christian faith; they just sometimes get overshadowed by dogma.
