There are many things that were for the rich that are now available to most. Anyone remember the car? You know that funny mechanical plaything for the rich folks to waste their money on. How about computers? You know the machines that take up an entire room and no person will ever be able to afford them. All of these miracles that Meta is talking about may at first be for the rich but will eventually filter down to the common man. I do think it to be very amusing that most assume that those who don't believe in religion or God have no "hope". I can only assume you refer to "hope" as an opiat (sp) of disbelief.

Do your parents still talk to you?
by scootergirl injust curious if your parents still have contact with you after you have been df'd/da'd.
mine have stood by w/strong convictions not to have contact w/me.
they have to have some being that i have kids that they want to see (but that is very minimal).

For the first 2 years after my DF'ing my parents wouldn't talk to me or let me talk to my brothers. They started to ease up when I got over my post DF self destructive attributes. Now that I'm "Mr. Responsible" my mother wants to come over but I think it is mostly because my daughter is the only granddaughter that she can see. Of course if I came out and told her that I was an active Pagan she might act differently. I really want to open her eyes to the cult that she is in but her blinders are firmly on.

What Would You Change On Earth and How?
by IslandWoman inwhat if you were god?
what changes would you make on this beautiful planet you created?
or to put it another way, if you could speak directly to god what would you ask god to change here on the earth and how would you answer the following questions if he asked you?

Ban all organized religion. The minute anyone wrote passages down and called it my word I would kill them and destroy the document. I would allow them to call me what they wished and worship as they wished so long as they understood their own importance. Too often, religion becomes more important than the individual in the religion.
I would also allow science the chance to explain my power. -

I'm a Dark Age of Camelot junkie right now. Ghost Recon and Counter-Strike are my two other loves.

I know this was posted earlier but I thought I would give my little story. I just bought a house about 6 months ago and haven't seen a single JW. I've been visited by the Mormons twice, some generic christian church, and a couple of Baptists stopped by just today. By far the Baptsists were the most friendly. I explained that I was Wiccan and we had a nice little chat about our respective religions. Maybe my memory is hazy but weren't we taught that we were the only ones committed to going door to door?

Ye Old Jehovah Witness Gossip/Smear Campaign

Gossip was one of a very short list that convinced me that JW's were full of shit. I bought into the whole 'we are better than everyone else in the world' bs. Once I started getting more involved in congregation matters I realized it was just one giant rumor mill. I saw people get DF'd off of nothing more than rumors. This is when I became loud and confrontational right in the KH as often as I could. Of course the Elders had to talk to me about my 'bad attitude'. I told them with our 'rumors are bad talks' every 3 weeks I thought it prudent to make sure to tell a person to their face exactly what I thought so as not to cause any confusion.
Now, I have no problem telling a person what I think so long as I feel they are worth the effort. In cases of JW's, most of the time they are not worth the time. -

Losing my religion
by professor innew requirement for a satisfactory religion in which to present to my children as an option:.
1. no murderous medical policies.
2. respect for other people and their faiths.

There are a few religions that do not claim superiority over any others. Most Pagan religions view other religions to be just as viable and equal. From your requirements professor it sounds like some good ol' paganism is just what the doctor ordered. However, you'll end up having to drop all JW and christian baggage.

Left the WTS as an atheist
by Elsewhere ini have realized that there are some misunderstandings regarding the circumstances of my leaving the wts.. i'll give a brief review... i was raised as a third generation jw and submerged underwater in a ritual called baptism in 1991. all of my family, and almost all of my extended family are in the wts.
my mother claims to be of the anointed, my grandfather clamed to be of the anointed, my dad is an elder, and my other granddad is an elder who has spent considerable time as po.
my family was the model jw family.

Very interesting story Elsewhere. Although, I bet you still get all kinds of crap for being Atheist. I get enough BS for being Wiccan.
