I have yet to find a Pagan board that is as active as this one. Sorry I can't help ya Spider but I wouldn't mind knowing of a place like this only for pagans. Just remember, like every other religion on the planet there are plenty of flaky Pagans as well.

XJW Pagans
by SpiderMonkey into spice, moe, gsx, & many others i've met here, i have a question: whether xjw or just associated w/ jw's at some point in time, those who now consider themselves pagan: do you have a link to a pagan site that offers good chat & board services like this one does?
i'm getting to a point where i frequently find myself reading some very valid ideas against jw's and basically posting "yeah.
" i'm not interested in leaving this board entirely, but i am interested in finding a board that suits my current beliefs & interests more fully... i want to accentuate the positives more so than the negatives in other words.... this is in no way meant as a slam against this board; this board has helped me as nothing else ever has.

Good to see you back Happy Man. I read the article and find it very interesting. Last quarter I had a "discussion" with a christian fundamentalist about the accuracy of the Bible and much less the uniqueness of it as well. He was just like a JW insisting that everything written that he didn't agree with must be a lie. I eventually broke him down to the old "You've got to have faith" standby. I told him there was nothing wrong with having faith but if you're going to try and convince people that they are wrong and you are right you'd better come with more to the table than you've got to have faith. I see faith as something personal and of no good in trying to win an argument.

"Satan is the one who is causing all these terrible things to happen," Cliver said. "So many bad things have happened to me in my life, I didn't know what I did to deserve that."
I wish my religion had someone to blame for all the worlds problems. This way I don't have to think that people are responsible for their own actions.
Cliver also prays for healing. One Sabbath, she had a severe cold and couldn't hear out of one ear. She couldn't sing but went to church anyway. Then, in the middle of the service, her ear opened
All that screeching I'm sure my ear would open as well. Anyone been to a KH full of people who shouldn't be singing? I think we cleared out a square mile of every living animal (and I'm sure a few dead ones got up and ran as well).
My mother in law is 7th day adventist and she always has her Bible and study materials laying out. I remember seeing one picture of this giant demon with finger puppets of Hitler and the Pope. All I could think of was the WTS. Same crap different name.

Soooo not out! Talking to an ex-jw...
by detective inwell, i damn near put my foot in it this evening.
a friend of mine who is well aware of my continuing friendship with a jw (now allegedly ex-jw) told me i should meet an ex-jw that he knows.
i felt pretty excited about meeting an ex-jw face to face as i've longed for a chance to speak honestly with someone who knows the organization well and my friend isn't ready to really discuss the issues yet.

It took me almost 10 years to drop the control of the WTS. Even five years after my DF I thought the JW cult was bullshit, yet when my then girlfriend/now wife brought home the Ray Franz book I freaked out and told her I wouldn't read any apostate literature. I wouldn't even touch it. Now I laugh at myself for being so stupid but it still amazes me sometimes how much I couldn't let go.

Nothing surprising here. I guess my whole group sex experience really sank me You are 30% Pure! (Very interesting.)
Here's how the REST of the world breaks down, compared to you:
people less pure than you (4%) people like you (0%) people more pure than you (96%) -

What would you do if religion collapsed?
by Prisila inat this point in my life i feel very confident that leaving the jws was the best thing for me.
however, 25 years of brainwashing goes a long way.
(for arguments sake) if religion collapsed today, would you feel you made a mistake in leaving the wbts?

Since I'm a solitary Wiccan I could care less if religion got wiped out. In fact I would prefer it if organized religion was wiped out. Of course it depends on if you think spirituality and religion are the same thing. I don't think you could wipe out spirituality but religion seems to become more important than the person in it.

The Next Surgeon Generals Warning?
by DakotaRed inhttp://abcnews.go.com/sections/us/dailynews/fatsuit020725.html.
does anybody have any common sense anymore and accept responsibility for themselves?
who will be left to blame for our ills?

I'm allot fatter than I'd like to be but I only blame myself. That article is freakin rediculous. If you're fat and don't have a gland condition then it is your fault, PERIOD I'm overweight because I stopped working out about 2 years ago and I tend to eat crap. No one to blame but myself. That reminds me it's time to get off my ass...

women, god and religion
by teejay ini'm close to leaving this place, but before i go, i've been meaning to post this politically incorrect viewpoint.
it's an extension of a conversation i had with my mother in law not long ago, a conversation which was itself an extension of several extensions of thought that i've had over the years about a number of things.. simply put, there are two kinds of people in our world.
those that believe the bible and those that don't.

I think the biggest concern should be balance. There are plenty of men today who have a mythical idea of how they should be treated and act. The problems of today are growing pains as we try to move away from a patriarchal societies. Back in the day when villages relied on men to be the warriors this was needed. Those old days are over but it is now a case of why settle for a glass of milk when you can have the whole cow. Men don't want to "give up" any supposed power. People never seem to want to read the Bible in the context of the time it was written. They always want to somehow apply it to present day.

Religious freedom is being denied!
by tyydyy ini'm sure someone else has already thought of this but i wanted to see what discussion came from this.
i was raised as a jw and left at the age of 35. i still do the dance to keep from being disfellowshiped so that i don't lose all contact with my family.
the thought just came to me that as i went through my life my religious freedom was being denied by coersion.

Amen, brother JanH. Religous organizations are already involved in politics over here in the U.S. they may as well be taxed.

Well I'm not happy that you're smoking but I am happy that you're free. Regardless of how I feel about smoking, welcome to the land of the living. It's good to see that you have some support, enjoy your life.
