Aunty.....I was talking about if your family LEFT the Org....which way would they THEN turn?

Also....my sisters have kids that are all gung-ho jw's and if my parents were out, they couldn't take the shunning - it would kill them

My wife is the same way with my daughter and her two kids and husband.
If my wife were to find out the Org. is bunk.......I don't know how she could handle the rejection that would come as a result.

It makes you wonder how many would leave if there was no repercusions.

dont blame the witnesses, its the bible's fault.. well you can blame them for trying to stick to the thing, but belief in the bible is the main problem.. i've heard the gb and witnesses be called evil by some, as though they have gone out to hurt people on purpose.. but i doubt that this is true, at least in recent times.. no the problem comes from believing the bible is god's word and trying to interpret it and follow it.. what happens when you do so?.

you get the catholic inquisition,people burnt at the stake,you get jews fighting for a promised land, religious groups who let their children die and a host of other problems.. i ask a question.if you were god and were going to have a book written on how man should live, would you do it in such a way that if misinterpeted or taken too literaly or mistranslated slightly , could result in the death and suffering of thousands of people,and would enslave people to false religious beliefs?.

yes there are good points and principles in the bible, mainly the words of jesus, who didn't write any of it himself.. but a few good principles don,t outweight the bad done in the name of the bible through the past 2000 years.. the society has tried to follow the bible, and take it for real .in doing so they have had to take on beliefs and ideas that can ultimatly cause harm.. it is like me reading a instruction manuel for my car, that is a fake written by a non-expert.if i follow that manuel , although it may not be all wrong, some instuctions could be in error and cause damage to my car and risk injury to other people.. if people then come along after and say "well its not the manuel thats wrong , you've just misunderstood it , look if you do it this way,that way..".

Why love God?

should we love god and have faith in him because we are afraid of being annihilated if we don't?.

should we love god so we can be paid for it by getting a "mansion in the sky" or everlasting life or some other reward payment?

I remember when in the door to door work years ago a brother asked me if I would serve Jehovah if there was no reward.
I remember feeling guilty when I thought about it cuz i thought.....I don't know if I would.

After a lot of thought on that....and it took a while....I felt that his question wasn't fair.

God made us in a way to want rewards when we try hard. If absolutly no reward was ever seen or you thought that no good could come from your efforts.....why would you try?

The same is true I think in a sense about fearing God.
Suppose God said in the bible "Live like an animal, do what you want,....even hate me if you want, and I will still reward you with a blissful life of eternity....and I could care less...you still get the reward.

Why would you be good when it is so hard to be good?
That would be like someone saying....you can work for me and I'll pay you or I can just give you money and you don't have to work if you would rather not work.

Does a man say nice things and do things for his wife because she will be upset if he dosen't? Yes. But he also WANTS to say nice things and do things for her as it makes him happy that she is happy with his efforts and happy herself.

I hope I made some sense and this helps ole bud.

as i said before, i was raised in the truth in central ohio.

Question for you. You said."If they lost the organization, they'd have nothing in their lives and absolutely no hope in life.

I also wonder which way my family would turn if they left.
I myself am a christian and would hope my family would be the same if they left.

I was wondering why you would feel your family would have no hope if they left? Perhaps they would feel this way for a while.....but....I have noticed many on this board who have said they have felt free for the first time in their life after leaving.

Perhaps your family might feel the same way, or learn what the bible really teaches and find happiness this way.

i havent mentioned this before because, when it happened i was quite rattled.. there was a knock at the door a little while back, and who should be stood there but john dayment, the fella who used to be my dads assistant when he was po of weston super mare, back in the 60s.. he had with him another chappy, i think that his name was rod something, and they both launched into how good it would be to see me make my way back.

apparently they were both elders, and this was my once a year visit.

i was disinclined to be rude because my mum is still in contact with john hey, for all i know he might be my step-father one day!

80,000 per year df'ed. This was a statistic back in the early 80's if not the late 70's. (not sure if that was the U.S. only)

What are the stats now? Thats a lot of revenue lost folks!
Could it be the 1 month deal is a means to get publishers back for the $$$$?

well, it has gotten to be stale around here so i am also leaving.

i have no reason to stay because i have fulfilled my mission, to get my wife to see the truth about the truth.

Look at a round circle and try to find where it begins.

There are many GOOD books called Apologetics for bible questions
One is called....'Answers to bible skeptics' by Norman Geisler ( not sure if that is the exact name of the book)

Also there are many internet sites that answer bible questions.

This is big news to me! 6 months was the soonest you could get back and that was from the time you began returning..last I heard.

E-man...why were you df'ed just for hanging out with your pal?
It used to be the only way you could be df'ed for associating with another df'ed person was...IF YOU CARRIED THE BANNER FOR HIM.

In other words if you complained the elders were wrong in their decision and your associate didn't deserve what he got. (you had to be VERBAL about it)
