  josephus as most know, was a jewish/roman 1st century historian.

  he was well respected by the roman community and christians were zealous readers of his works.. he is one person christians use as a solid basis for proof of jesus earthly existence.

  here is a quote that is used by some christians who strongly believe these words came from the hand of josephus himself,"now, there was about this time, jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man, for he was a doer of wonderful works, a teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure.

  Pete....good points.

  Some other questions to consider are,

  If this paragraph about Jesus was from Josephus, then he too would have put faith in him and not REMAINED an orthodox jew like he did. Jews were looking for a messiah as was Josephus and so he surely would have followed the man he just glorified in his supposed "Jesus paragraph".....yet he did not. Why?

  Also ....why did not Josephus write more than one paragraph about a man who "really wasn't man" and about a man who was killed and resurrected? One paragraph?......c'mon!

  Doncha folks think if the Gospel of "Mark" was truely written around 50 AD....Josephus would have included some of it's contents and mentioned somewhere beside the famous Jesus paragraph some of the events mentioned in Mark.....such as the miracles?

  He never mentioned any gospel writings yet supposedly believed in Jesus and the things he done....yet remained a mosaic law abiding jew.......riiiiiiiight!

  My Friend is dying

  two weeks ago a very dear friend of 20 years had a heart attack.

  he went to the hospital and they inserted three stents.

  we all thought he was going to do well afterwards.

  Israel was a small backwater province of the Roman Empire. Why would they give a shyte about some minor insurrection where a guy gets crucified and none of his followers fight to stop it happening?

  That's correct. The Lord decided to have his son that he wanted the whole world to know about, be born in an enviroment where he drew the least amount of suspicion or attention, and in an enviroment any historian wouldn't even write about.

  I guess the lord rather preferred some followers of this man to make a book and pass the book down through the centuries and hoped that nobody would tamper with it. The Lord can send a son via a vigin, but he can't guard a book from error and can't come up with any outside sources to validify his boy is the real macoy.

  I'm still puttin my money in my nutbag buisness instead of the collection plate.

  she constantly parrots acts 15:29 to "abstain from blood".

  she showed me the latest awake that says something about how's there's a rare disease from taking blood transfusions that "hundreds" have gotten.

  i told her "hundreds in billions is nothing".

  awe shucks mini, maybe you just can't teach an old dog new tricks......at her age why does she need to change her belief system? I say leave her alone with her religion and it's stupid policies and just get on with your life

  I'm with Bikermamma...let her be....even IF you have made progress with her on other issues. Talk about other issues if you want that she will agree to concerning the witnesses and build on those if you must.

  Whadya gonna do min if she did leave the witnesses at her age? Are you gonna send her to the baptist church instead where they teach Hellfire and the Trinity and see her squirm all over again. How long would it take her to undo all she has been taught... 2 years, 5 years, 10? How old is she?

  Hellrider,

  Historians wrote what they knew and usually didn't water down truths to save their own arses. Josephus also didn't write about Herod killing every single baby under the age of two either....something I'm sure would have made the 'Palestinian Herald Sunday News' and something Josephus would have surely written about since he spent many years in Galilee and even in Cana where Jesus first miracle was supposed to have taken place. He wrote zip about Jesus....a man who supposedly turned Rome upside down.

  The past year and a half has been hell in so many ways.........but would not trade it in for "The Awakening" of myself.

  Hi Purps. It's sad that heartaches oftentimes preceed happiness or awareness. When a happiness was based on false premises, that happiness vanishes when the false premise is realised. You will attain a different happiness. The new happiness may not always be as climatic as the one prior to it, but it doesn't carry the baggage with it that the last one had either.

  What kind of dog did you have? I have a boxer....but after hearing you mention about burying your dog, my next one might be a boston terrier So sorry bout your dog....losing them sometimes is like losing a human family member.
