do you find yourself scanning the posts of new ones here hoping in the back of your mind that it's a friend or relative who has finally "seen the light"?.
there are several people i am always watching for.... my best friend from high school, the only friend i was allowed to have since she was the only girl my age in the kh.
and my brothers... extremely bright and intelligent guys, but very wrapped up in gaining my fathers and the congregations approval.
You know what I wonder? I wonder if you took a personal poll of 500 witnesses and asked them ( IF they would honestly answer you)...."have you EVER looked at an ex-jw site on the internet"?....if you would get at least a few who say they have. How many would say the've seen THIS SITE. Probably very few.
This fact makes it depressing to me that my old friends/family will neve find me here nor find their escape as a result of this place. Too many fricken loyal dubs I guess.

i just stepped out into my back yard and thought i was going to melt.
i was going to fill up the inflatable pool for my son, but by the time it gets filled up, the water will be about 90 and not worth the bother.
i'm sure that other california people can relate to this.
Yeah, thank god for air-conditioning! Swamp coolers are OK if it ain't cloudy and humid.
About this:
The story was a poignant one: a homeless man died in Wichita the morning after the thermometer hit 109. He wore multiple layers of clothing.
I realise this is WHY homeless and the mentally challenged wear so many clothers when it's blazing outside.....but I could never figure out why THEY NEED TO WEAR their clothes. I've seen some wearing two coats.....black coats at that. Why not tie them around their waste or just carry them in a bag or something. WHY do they wear them?

quick question: one of the elders just called me about a talk i am supposed to give tomorrow night.
well its obvious he is not aware that i don't live at home anymore (he made the comment that he hasn't seen me in awhile but figures its cause of the recent district convention stuff) and for me to let him know either way wether or not i would be giving the talk.
If he asks what you mean by "a lot on your plate", tell him it's "female problems, I won't gross you out with details, but thanks for your concern". I guarantee he won't be able to get off the phone fast enough.

i just had a very enjoyable, insightful conversation with gregor, "the kool-aid man".
i learned some things and shared some things, and i think we are both the better for the conversation.. i think it would do everyone a lot of good to occasionally remember that on this forum, due to the limitations of the medium, we can really only see a weird sort of 2-dimensional person (sometimes only a 1-dimensional person) through the posts we read.
i just wanted to let everyone know i am glad i am getting to know gregor.

So who won? Last time I saw him in a showdown it was with Denny(Lyin Eyes hubby)...and he got pulled in the swimmin pool after he pushed Denny in.....that sneaky little twit.He got his shirt tore off too. Ha ha ha ha ha.

I personally have attended two apostofests...one in Dallas and one in Washington....and I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat! I wish I could attend more.
I too was apprehensive to do this on my first experience in Dallas thinking eveyone had horns and axes and were maybe all wild and crazy bastards......but I was dead wrong. People were like they were when they were dubs (safe).....cept for maybe a little more drinkin...lol
Everyone was as kind as could be and waaaaaaaay more loving and sincere than dubs are.I never once had to defend myself......cept for a long haired hippy bastard named Valis who thought it was cute to pinch people.....and i'm still gonna knock him on his arse if I see the guy again

can anyone recommend any good books that offer critical theories on the origins of early christianity, specifically the content and creation of the gospels.
for instance, how much of the gospels is underlying historical truth and how much might be exaggerations that crept in through, say 'chinese whispers' in the time between jesus death and the writing of the gospels ?
