  If god guides the mormons, then why did they state what they did in these "older tracts" that are now "old light"? God doesn't change does he?

  does anyone have any idea where enoch went.....since he never died?.

  the author of the letter to the hebrews says "by faith enoch was transferred, that he should not see death, and was not found, because god had transferred him; for before his transference he had the witness that he had pleased god well.

  Most think that heaven is the realm in the spirit world, where the angels and God are.. but it is actually IMO, the place with God. Which could be as a spirit or a human.

  So, unless one dies, he can't be with god? Sounds like the bible god is a bad planner to me. I guess if our first parents hadn't sinned....nobody would "be with" god...at least as are the angels. We'd have to settle on prayer to talk with god had our first parents not sinned. I guess it's a good thing Adam and Eve disobeyed since only death brings us within the realm of god along with gods son and the angels. Eating of the tree of life would have meant life eternal on earth....not "with" god.

  Clammer, maybe if I don't make heaven, I can at least polish up a few before they get raptured so high I can't reach them.

  i have been friends with sam (fictious name) for about seven years.

  we are not real close friends, but have a good quality relationship that is mostly confined to the office.. recently, sam told me that he had an issue with a female agent who tried to get him fired.

  Typical story.

  The witnesses can't count their time with people like you and hubby. They have never been ones to "leave the 99 in search for the lost sheep". They are losing thousands because of this same attitide as they feel their time spent in the ministry means more to Jehovah than gaining back someone who has gone stray. Your fortunate that you'll not be at a family loss if you are DFed.

  Remember, the Bible is not a single book but an anthology of works from different theological and eschatological standpoints.

  ....and remember, only the books that seemed to harmonize with each other were chosen to make up the canon. Had the books Leolaia mentioned been included in the canon, we'd be a helluva lot more confused than we are right now on this issue....and every other issue.

  Funny why a god who gave man a book to guide his life by, couldn't do so without people not being able to make any sense of it nor find harmonization within it's pages.

  Thanks to all who looked into this and commented about it.......but like so many other bible questions, we can all never agree to it's meaning of many scriptures.

  it must be rearranged to fit our commonly agreed standards.. if we do take the whole of it and rearrange the structure without dropping any of the molecules (word forms) a thought can be communicated.. 1.wholeness, in and of itself, is not useful when communication according to a standard is sought.. 2.in order to pull data out of a whole structure (such as the top box) we must isolate the elements and rearrange them.

  if we find a pattern we must further apply standards of logic in order to derrive sense.. 3. the wow!

  At Jo 3:13 the word does not just mean "going up" but "going up while once being up there" No one, according to the claim made by Jesus, has been in heaven and come down here and gone back up there having completed His task

  Moggy, my bible reads a bit different than yours. Jesus clearly showed that nobody other than him has ever gone to heaven and he said nothing about one who has been there and came back. Do you have a refrence for the word ascend?

  Elijah was another who is believed to have gone to heaven.

  Why assume he went to heaven? The scripture does not say where he was transferred to.

  Cuz there's nowhere else for Jehovah to put the guy.......Mr.Warlock!!!!! If god put him somewhere.....where do you suppose he mighta put him? He wouldn't have put him all by his lonesome now would he? Maybe the lucky bastard turned Muslim and he got his 40 virgins that all them guys are after.

  And no, I didn't read your response cuz it takes too long for that thread to load up.....at least for me. Hey, did you ever find a cure for your scabbies yet 'ol bud?
