Properly Understanding Genesis 3:14

it was satan that was cursed, not the snake!

if it was satan then that the "curse" of genesis 3:14 applied to rather than the serpent, then how is it that satan has had to live his life since that day as if having to go upon his belly and eat dust?

the answer is arrived at by first considering the lowly state of this somewhat pitiful creature called the "serpent".

If God is Knows all before it happens, Why did he appoint Satan (in his prefallen state) to look after his creation......when he KNEW he would blow it!

Would you appoint someone to look after you kids... if you knew down the road.....they would die from what he did?

So God did it anyway. He saw satan (before he even made him) cause the downfall of mankind.....and continued on.

Don't give me the W.T. reasoning on this either about how Jehovah uses his foreknowledge selectively and chose not to know the final outcome. That is pure speculation and does not jive with Gods supposed abilities as the bible states.

i am told by those stupid enough to be called my friends, that i think about death far too often for comfort.

this blemish on an otherwise perfect character is probably a gift of nationality as many of my comrades seem to spend whole days toasting seats in corner cafes, lethargically discussing the latest obituary and predicting the size and quality of the tombstone.

whenever i visit the mountainous village of my birth, it strikes me that i have seen these same people drinking campari in these same bars for almost four decades.

of course i know that many of you here do not believe in the bible and its promise of a resurrection.

some of you do not even believe in a creator.

but those of you apostates that still do believe in a resurrection back to life, you would no doubt agree that not everyone of those who are resurrected will come back to life all at once.

Good point. I think it got twisted the same way it got twisted by all those leading up to the third century when it finally was put into a book called the Bible.

ghosts

not to get too deep of a "scary" subject, but wanted to hear opinions out there.. when taught at the kh, we were always told there is no such things as ghosts, but if there were one it was a demon.

i want to use that as an example to how dogmatic they are about so many things, that if they say it to be one way, then that is the truth period.. as it turns out, growing up, we had a ghost in our house.

don't laugh, it is true.

Lying Eyes:I feel if I can prove there are spirits of some form, some kind, demon or not, then maybe I can convince myself there is a God too.

I feel the same way. After reading your post however I got to thinking.....Why would seeing a ghost and KNOWING they exist........make God more believable? Creation and it's wonders would tell you more than a opague image about a God.

Maybe I'm wrong but.....we many times use the "if only" thing as a promise to ourself that we would change....."if only".

I do see where you are coming from and seem to be where you are in life as far as the spiritual side goes. Seeing a ghost or knowing they exist......would definately raise some serious questions for me.

clermont, ky. -- employees at the jim beam bourbon distillery are getting sour over restrictions on bathroom breaks.

workers on the bottling line are fuming about being limited to four breaks per 8 1/2-hour shift, only one of which can be unscheduled.

extra trips to the bathroom can result in reprimands.

I personally would talk to all my workmates in private. You could then suggest that come monday morning you all shit your pants. When the supervisor comes by anyone of you....he will puke and re-install the old policy.

This is the only solution I can come up with.

What would I like played at my funeral?

First I would have a brother conduct a talk at the gravesite (since they can't have a service at the hall for a wicked Apostate). I would make sure my wife invites all my dub friends and family.

Next....once the talk begins.....I would have one of MY buddies who would do the sound play:

"MY DINGALING", ..by chuck berry.

Actually, I feel this way as was already stated: Quote:

what do you all do with your free time now guys..like hobbies and what not..like you pioneers there is 75 hrs you have to play around with if you know what i mean not to mention meetings and bible studying etc.

please do share !!!

I usually try to rest on saterday from working all week and just kick back. Sundays I do my honey-doo's and yard work......then go Golfing, or fishing, or now........I ride my watercraft.

I research also in the evenings during the week, come here,etc.

I see at least two types of people posting here. The ones who never beleived in god and who lived a double live throughout their JW lives and the ones who really beleived it to be the truth but eventually came to grips with their doubts and were likely discourged.

My oh my! You really have insight!

What about the ones who did/do believe in God who lived/live double lives? Did you forget those? Or are you saying...".if you really believe in God.....you won't do bad things"?

You have no clue of the various personality's that exist in dubs and x-dubs if you only see two kinds.

You say there are those who never believed in God. How about the ones who did but no longer do?

i'm considering trying hypnosis to help me win my everlasting battle with weight, but naturally i have feelings of guilt because we were told as jws that we cannot use hypnosis....... .

anyway, has anyone here ever tried hypnosis?

i would be interested in hearing if it helped you at all.

Yes you will do better ...if you and a friend make a routine plan.....or you join a gym.

By far.....most people do not work out on their own. Just look at the next yard sale you see and notice the exercise equipment available. If you join a gym....you will go because you don't want to waste the money (at least it works for most)

Commiting to a friend works because each of you is expecting the other to be ready to go and you don't want to say no. If you walk......you need to do it fast, or you won't see much success.

See ya...... when your skinny as a bean pole!!!!!

Hi Mary.

I tried hypnosis to quit smoking and it didn't work for me. I am not one to let my mind and body go bananas at a concert or with a hypnotist.....it's just not my personality. I don't know if being a witness did this or it's just ME.

If you are appling the bible as a basis for your decision....it says not to let othersd "BIND YOU WITH A SPELL"

What was the context? It was to stay clear of those weirdo's back then with supposed spiritualistic powers to do harm.

If a person can implant a suggestion in your mind to help you get over a PROBLEM you have........it has nothiong to do with what the scriptures were talking about.

The W.T. Has looked at it from a one sided view as they do on much of their doctrine.

I hope it helps if you try it. My wife is a dub and has the same problem. Let me know if you find a cure.
