Serena thanks "Jehovah" after US Open...

serena williams, after winning the us open women's tennis championship tonight, thanked "jehovah" for blessing her family.

in the background were numerous us flags, and of course, prior to the match, the williams sisters were there and standing while various patriotic songs were played (oh, that's right....they were already standing since they had to walk out onto the court....guess that's okay).

while watching all that i could not help but think of all the jw youths who have been told that they could not particicpate in organized sports at school or otherwise.

Good point! also....What determines which player Jesus chooses to pick as winner? Didn't the loser pray also to God, before they lost? Boxers are also famous for this. After beating the hell out of the other guy....they thank Jesus for the victory......truely horse shit.

Does anyone know the STANDING in the congregation of the two sisters? Have they been reproved as was Jackson for the thriller skit? Perhaps their playing is not condoned by others. Playing sports is not a judicial action event.

I've never known one who had a POSITION in the cong. who played active sports

dubs say it like it really means something special.. ever know any other christian faith that actually charged for home bible studies?

You'll need a 4 door car, a bookbag, literature, gas in your car 10hrs. a month of your time, 5 meetings to prepare and attend, Convention money, contribution money, suits, and other stuff.

i'd like to kick off by asking this wealth of experience what your most successful witnessing to witnesses tips are.

so if you're a non-and-has-never-been-a-jw, what stops them in their tracks?

3. Quotations of the OT referring to Jehovah being directly applied to Jesus in the NT.

My moms new dub husband quoted the NT about blessed is he who calls on the lord...a quote from psalms. It is easy to show jesus was meant here.

About the two beheaded Witnesses

i got to thinking about this at work a couple of nights ago.. a news story said that the two jw's killed weren't (apparently) proselytizing in the phillipines, which is described as a heavily muslim nation.

though they were found with avon products, avon said the two were neither employees nor representatives.. now, why would two jw's be in a heavily muslim land, possibly pretending to be something they're not?

were they just lugging the stuff from place to place for someone as a favor?.

They have been SPYING for years. Thats how they determine to disfellowship people who are suspected of shacking up with someone....or carrying on apostate buisness......by spying. By hiding in cars or vans with biboculars and the whole nine yards.

99% of the time.....a dub will tear up a non dub..........Why? Because they don't know what questions to ask, or how to respond to the dub.. Most Christians, also, have no idea how to talk to a dub.

You are correct though....sometimes a non- dub, can come up with things we never thought of.....like children do. Witnesses are trained to stick to topics they are prepared for and they use it to their advantage. A person needs to learn how to get them off their turf and on to a subject they are not prepared for.....to make them think.

No matter how you do it...it should always be done in love and, with the idea of not wanting to just prove them wrong ( although it's fun).....but to free their lives of bondage to men.

For Christians...using Romans and what it says about salvation is good

For others....knowing their backround ,and learning from others who have experience will really help.

we heard new light this evening.

a local needs talk was given about how anyone that knows someone might be dating a non- witness and doesn't report it to the elders is actually hindering the free flow of jehovah's holy spirit.

yes, if the "sin" goes unreported, the whole congregation will be affected, just as in the case of achan and his family!

Remember......this was from the platform......not in the watchtower. This talk was given in YOUR hall......not all congregations. When it is in print and distributed to publishers.......then it can be said to be new light.

It has never been to my knowledge ,a policy ,to report dating worldly people. many feel it should be reported and they do. Elders may choose to talk to them and advise them against it. If they persist.....no judicial action is taken. If the person in question is a servant or has special privledges.....and they persist.....then these can be removed as they are no longer an example.

To get the best advise on how to stop a dub would not be to ask a non dub.

The best advise comes from those with experience with the dubs or those like them. Freeminds has a good list of subjects and one of them is how to talk to a witness. There are many things........you DON'T say.

Do x-witnesses want to run when they see them coming? Sometimes....only if I'm not in the mood. Other times I love it. I have ran into them going door to door on jobsites I have talked to them on a few occations. I always love to ask....."don't you believe God will kill everyone on the earth except Jehovahs witnesses? They hate answering that.

Arguing over doctrine usually dosen't work.....

Shunned father....YOU.......were the faithful one! Your decision was based on love for daughter and to save her life.

Their decision.......was based on a mans interpretation of an old bible law and the importance to hold that view.

Any normal person,...if asked,... which one did the right thing,.. the father or the others? We all know who they would pick. Please be assured of all our warmest feelings.

first and foremost, the silly little watchtower god they call by the english name jehovah plans to kill billions of people at their battle of har-megeddon.

thier little god supposedly has already killed every human and land animal save noah and company about 5,000 years ago.

Jehovahs witnesses , when asked about what Christians should do when saddam, or others, threaten us is.....let Jehovah take care of it....trust in him...do not fight.

What do you suppose would happen if this REALLY were the case. The US adopts the witness attitude and says....we will not retaliate.

Let's say saddam attacks us.......would Jehovah step in and save us? What would he do? Would Jehovah guard the U.S. for being faithful and not fighting? If we believe this....then we believe as christendom....that God looks after our nation when we do things his way.

Fact is.....if we didn't fight or protect ourselves.........we would be history.

Amazing....Your attitude about this expresses my feelings also.

i just got an email about marilyn z. she will be having bypass surgery this morning at 11:45 (ct)she thought she was going in for angioplasty, but they discovered that she has 4 arteries with 90% blockage.

i'll keep everyone posted.

Hope things go well for Marylyn.

She was one of the first people I talked to when I came out. I called the hotline and asked what they felt was wrong about the witnesses and the first thing she said was...."well, their false prophets"!
