god loves unconditionally, but only certain ones, god is going to save the world from its downward spiral, but first of all he is going to destroy millions of evil people.
it is all so fatalistic and unkind.
I don't know why, but I'm shocked that they dragged you out in front of everybody in the middle of a meeting. Couldn't they have talked to you some other time? Gotta get the rumor mill turning so peer pressure will keep you in line.
I think it's interesting that they didn't ask you if you were gay. They were just concerned that you "sounded" gay. What is this, the JW version of Don't Ask, Don't Tell?
i have a brother that was a witness for twenty years, all four of us left the witnesses and for the most part are agnostic or atheist.. my brother that is going baptist is going because of a woman, he has always had a problem with not having a personality of his own, he has a very bad temper and never knows when to shut his mouth, he thinks nothing of telling people the most hurtful things and does not see that he has stomped all over someone's feelings.. he is 33 and met a woman in nursing school in wichita.
they started to date and are now planning on a wedding after only one month.

Hmmm. Sounds like your brother has the typical superior social skills of those of us raised in the WTS.
He sounds just like my brother's ex-wife's current husband. A real jerk. Some people can't be helped. He'll have to learn his own lessons. Unfortunately, the step kids will probably be wounded in the process.
Question: with this personality, is he able to remain employed for long?

Interestingly, my family wouldn't send cards to my son, who was DF'd just before graduation, and I've been out of the WTS for years. However, they don't hesitate to send me graduation announcements for their kids. I always just send a nice card and a check in return. I'm hoping that my acting decent toward them will help them think more nicely about "worldly" people.
My sister and her husband are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary next month. Everybody in our family has been invited to a big shindig for them, except for me. My Catholic aunt didn't think about it and asked me if I was going. I told her, No because I wasn't invited! But I'll send my braindead sister a card. Who knows, when the WTS falls, maybe she'll come running to me for support.
Redeem the coupons and ask for the specific WTs where the articles clearly stated Armageddon was coming in 1975.
for me, it's having friends that i don't have to hide my lack of meeting attendance/service from.
it's amazing how they teach you that only jws can be your real friends, but in reality, it's all contingent upon your religious "performance.

Being able to say, "God bless you," when someone sneezes. Saying "good luck" and thinking nothing of it. Going to the Reds game and actually standing for the National Anthem, rather than hiding out in the bathroom. Christmas. Birthdays. Mother's Day. In other words, not being a stand-out freak.

Oh, people, I'm heartbroken.
Some of my favorite movies: LOTR (all three), The Deer Hunter, Apocalypse Now, Fiddler on the Roof, Casablanca, Citizen Kane, and The Passion of the Christ.
Absolutely hated Titanic, Blair Witch, Something About Mary, and Episodes 1-3 of Star Wars. Loved Episodes 4-6, though.
I agree that Raiders was great but Temple of Doom was stupid. Walked out of it. Walked out of Airplane, too.
Lake Placid was stupid. Walked out of Bats. Reds was way too long and boring. I fell asleep. I thought the Four Feathers was a first-rate second-rate movie. Can't believe Nick Cage got an Oscar for Leaving Las Vegas. Elisabeth Shue was the only good thing about that movie.
I totally hate all those stupid Mummy movies with Brendan Frasier.
However, one of my all time favorites is Streetcar Named Desire with Marlon Brando. "Stel-la!"

Re: the Northern Kentucky ads, we call Northern Kentucky by another name: Ohio. In my corner of Ohio, we have "O'Tucks day," which is a day set aside for Ohioans from Kentucky. (That translates into almost all of us!) Lots of KY food and music. Apparently, pinto beans and corn bread and fried potatoes is considered ethnic food to people who aren't from around here. Here it's the staple diet.
Why did the Ohioans build a bridge across the Ohio River? So the briars from Kentucky could swim across in the shade. LOL
The briars tried to blow up Ohio once by throwing dynamite at us from across the river. We lit the sticks of dynamite and threw them back. LOL
Trivia: The Cincinnati airport code is CVG because the Cincinnati airport is in Covington, KY. Just across the river from Cincy in Northern Kentucky.
I live in a town called Hamilton. Everyone around here calls it Hamiltucky. Both of my parents are from KY and my husband was born there, too. There was a huge migration to OH from KY during WWII to work in the factories and it continued with people looking for work at GM and GE. J.D. Crowe used to perform a song about this migration called, "Follow the Bologna Trail."
