i gave a lot of talks as a jw.

beeing the only elder in a cong for almost three years, i've been on the platform at every meeting (also at ca and dc).

but thats long ago.

some people leave because they are fed up with the elders.

others have personality issues.

some have doctrinal and prophecy reasons.

I'm with DataDog. I remember 1975, for instance, and you can't fool me into thinking over zealous JWs worldwide just made it up. I reject the JWs because their doctrine is not sound.

Got a question about disabilities? I have answers

as many of you know i suffer from a few disabilities.

i also worked for many years with people with a wide range of disabilities including deaf and hard of hearing, visually impaired and blind, mobility impairments (use crutches, walkers, scooters or wheelchairs).. having been on two sides of a disability i know a lot of people are confused.. here is something from my life that i experience regularly.

i'm in a wheelchair now and although i don't use it in the house i do use it to go out.

I do freeze in freezer bags but lately I've been going to the dollar store and buying foil pans. That way, things can come out of the freezer and go straight into the oven.

CC, believe it or not, I fell off my mother's welcome mat a few years back and broke my ankle. I feel your pain. Hope you get better soon!

LadyLee, thanks for the offer! If only you knew how quickly my kids can move, even in leg braces, you may not offer! LOL! Hope it's just your hand you hurt after your fall.

I have been down, down, down lately with the arthritis in my knees. Haven't posted because I haven't done anything worth chatting about. Right now, the whole world revolves around whether or not I can walk.

I'm going to go into the basement to do laundry in about an hour. I know I'll be stuck there for quite awhile so I'm taking my basket of cleaning supplies with me, some trash bags, and a "donate" box. At least it will be a productive day in the basement but I won't be able to keep a close eye on the kids. I'm feeding them lunch now and I'll leave some snacky foods on the table. They'll come down to get in the way periodically so at least I'll know they're still alive.

I'm really bummed about this lack of mobility. Need a hug today.

imagine if god gave the gb the authority to rule the whole earth and everyone in it, right now, the same way they govern jw's, what the heck would that be like?.

after the temporary euphoria wore off (should last a good two minutes or so), the gb (or whatever they're calling themselves now) would have much to do.

My First Halloween! What should I wear?

so i decided that i am going to give out candy this year.

it's important to me because in all the years that i went d2d, noone ever gave me candy!.

anyway, i was planning to wear one of my old nursing dresses (not a naughty nurse skanky one) with the old school white cap, and go as nurse rached.

Just a note that once I dressed up as a witch to pass out candy at my front door. I was so convincing that some children ran away screaming without waiting for the candy!

So don't overdo it!

We had electric but we never got to watch any TV because we were always at a meeting! LOL!

I hate My Little Margie. But I loved the Ann Sothern Show and Mr. Ed.

My parents used to watch a show called The Bold Ones. My mother would always sit down in her chair with a bottle of beer and watch it and then fall asleep in her chair (not an alcoholic). I'd sneak down the stairs and steal her beer and drink it. I was quite young at the time!
