What is the "new" date JWs are "hinting" at for Armaggeddon?
by booker-t inafter the 1975 "we did not say point blank armaggeddon was coming we only suggested it might come" fiasco what is the new date jws are "hinting" at for armaggeddon?
i know now they do not point to any specific date but hint that maybe it might occur such as before 2000 the preaching work will be finished.
this is a suggestion not a prediction so they can wiggle out of this one.

Suggestions for car buying
by FlyingHighNow inif you were a lady and you were 55 and had $5,000 or less to spend on a used car, what would buy?
top concerns: good mpg; reliable; in not having major issues like ball joints breaking, timing belts breaking, etc.
not too expensive to maintain.

I love my Toyota Corolla. My son loves his Honda Civic. I would look at a Toyota Camry or Honda Accord, based on my family's experience with both of those models. I drive a smaller car because I don't have to have a lot of room but my next car will probably be a Honda Accord. Buick's don't hold their resale value but are sound, so you should be able to get one of those fairly new in your price range. Good luck! Car hunting sucks.

Did anyone ever rent a home or apartment from a "brother"?
by keyser soze inwhat was the experience like?
i lived with my brother and then sister-in-law in an apartment building owned by a brother and his wife.. besides the fact that they would constantly enter the place while we were out, without any kind of advance notification, they would procrastinate whenever there was maintenance work that needed to be done.
sometimes it would take months before they would get to it.

My non-JW dad would rent to JWs at my mother's behest. Except for one young couple, it was always a disaster. They'd break out the windows, ruin the carpet, leave things in a mess at the end. And these were the pioneers! Such good examples.

If anyone is in Cornwall, I want to sleep on your couch when they're filming Doc Martin again next year. That's my favorite show! (I'm in the USA).

Dilemma
by Gorbatchov ingorby and his lovely wife had during dinner a chat about watchtower hypocrisy.
she faded with me since 2007 and shows sometimes affection for the organization.. we talked about the gb and ray franz.. she asked me if she could read my ray franz books.. now i have a dilemma.
the books gave me a hard time in the '90.. i know the ray franz truth can hurt and shock her so much.

Rebel8, I'm a little dense, so I hope that was sarcasm.
Gorby, reading CoC really sealed the deal for me. Her anger will be at the WTBTS, not you. Don't you dare keep her from reading it! I assume she is an intelligent woman who can think for herself at this point post-JW.

why dont more elders leave?
by Crazyguy inyou would think that what they are exposed to more would wake up and leave, why not?
thoughts..

My brother won't leave because he's afraid my mom will disinherit him like she's done me and my two brothers who left. As soon as Mom dies, brother will fade, I'd put money on it.
I think some stay in because of family.
I think others stay in because of the love of power. Can you think of anything more powerful than being on a JC?
There are lots of ex-elders here who DID leave and I'm proud of them.

I let my weeds grow, in a way, but just mowing my yard and not treating it for weeds. Much to the dismay of my neighbors who have their yards treated so they will be lush and green. I have lots of clover in my yard. I leave it there for the bees.

Smoking Gun?
by Crazyguy ini was unable to insert the pic from the april 15,2013 pg 29 but leaving jesus christ out of the illustration on page 29 is no problem for the governing body as they have now substituted themselves for christ.
the following quotations substantiate this:-.
''the faithful slave is the channel through which jesus is feeding his true followers at this time of the end.
-
StAnn
"The Governing Body publishes spiritually encouraging literature in many languages. This spiritual food is based on God’s Word. Thus, what is taught is not from men but from Jehovah – Isa 54:13w
Watchtower September 15, 2010, page 13, paragraph 8."
So, how do they hide behind "we're just imperfect men" when they flip flop?
I don't recall this claim being made before this WT.

Hi Greta and welcome to posting! Glad you've found Christianity. I love it. God has so much to give us, if we can get the WTS out of the way.
