Are JW's allowed to go to Alcoholic's Anonomous?
by digderidoo ini went to an aa meeting tonight for the first time in a few weeks.
after about 6 weeks of attempting to control my drinking in a social way, i feel that it best to go the abstinence route as i wasn't really enjoying it.. anyway i got to thinking afterwards whether jw's are allowed to go to them?
i have heard how some elders disaprove of them because it's classed as a spriitual program.

Gum wrappers. Once a brother gave a talk about how Jehovah is watching us and we're to be exemplary and if we drive down the road and throw a gum wrapper out the car window it would be worse than if a wordly person committed murder because they're held to a lower standard.
Yep. Going to hell if I throw a gum wrapper out the car window.

Same Rights for JW as the catholic church
by Lone Ranger inhere in germany, sued the watchtower inc. the german gouvernment to gave them the same rights as other churches.
that means the right to come to the counsel of television stations, the right to fill out and to stamp documents with legal issue, and to use the gouvernment to recive money from them.. this is in the meantime allowed be german courts.
the judges don't want to see all the bad things which are in german jw congregations and in their scriptures.. what did you think about it?

I do load planning for a living,
Welcome, AV8OR. I used to work in the industry. We had a button on our telephone labeled "God" that we'd push when people expected us to control the weather.

Of course the GB doesn't watch any of these videos. No mature JW in good standing would look at a video on the internet. What's wrong with you?!

Being self-satisfied virtue or fault?

at that time (out of respect for headship) i made no rebuttal.

Contentment is against the JW religion.
Do I feel I could spend my time more wisely and get more accomplished? Yes. Do I beat myself up when I spend time relaxing and reading JWD instead of reading theology books and feeding the poor? No. There has to be some joy and some slack time in life. Don't feel much guilt about anything post-WTS.

Being told what to say in Convention interviews
by passwordprotected inhas anyone else heard tell of interviewees in convention parts being told what to say?
the way i've heard it is you're contacted to be interviewed in a convention talk because you've had a great experience in some form or other and they need you to boast about it.
so, you meet with the brother handling the assignment and you go through your experience with him (boast about it).

Once there was a sister in our KH that everyone envied. She had the biggest house, the nicest car, and a rich ubm. She pioneered. She was asked to get up and talk about how she can be faithful to Jehovah and still be a model wife, etc. Not too long after that, she discovered her rich ubm had been having an affair for five years with his assistant at work and he left her. She felt like a fool, because she'd had no idea and was standing up there as an example of a successful JW wife while her husband was off with a woman who actually had time for him.
Now she's remarried to a dirt-poor man who is PO and they live in a trailer. Her ex-ubm is a millionaire. How the mighty have fallen. I've always felt sorry for her.

Do You Wake Up With Answers?
by compound complex ini just now awoke from a nap, a "solution" to a knotty question at my bedside, patiently awaiting my return to wakefulness, with the answer that eluded me during conscious deliberations.
generally, when this has happened, now and in the past, what appears to have been an instant realization turns out to be exactly what i needed.. have you ever experienced this?.
why does it happen?.

Ah! More responses to the question of the ages ...
StAnn:
I agree that one should not be interrupted mid-dream. Irreparable psychological trauma might result. My IPT has a different source.
You used a word I do not know ... I will GOOGLE it ... is it peculiar to Ohio?
(I forgot the word, but I think it means you were miffed.)
FUBAR=Fouled Up Beyond All Recognition. Actually an old military acronym.
