Gee, if the Earth is only 42,000 years old, I'd bet these galaxies are at least 50,000 years old! Just read the Evolution book!

Hubble deep field photograph
by ballistic ini have always found the hubble deep field photograph, apparently hubbles most important photograph, very interesting.. for those of you who don't know, it's a long exposure or series of long exposures taken over many months of an otherwise completely empty and black region of space.. i was reading some info on it from the uk physicist brian cox, and he explains another dimension to it.. when you look at the deep field photograph, you are seeing a true 3d picture.
each galaxy in the picture are vast distances apart.
some relatively near, some almost the entire edge of the galaxy away.

What rumors have you heard about yourself since leaving?
by donny ingood morning all,.
i have had the opportunity over the last couple of years to speak with a couple of jw's who had either attended the same congregation i did or were married to someone who to the same one.
for the record, i disassociated myself in 1992 due to being followed around by an elder or two who had heard that i had ray franz's "crisis of conscience" in my possession.

gay lobby in the vatican?
by Hortensia inhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-22869399.
look at the slant given to this news:.
in the days leading up to pope benedict xvi's resignation in february, the italian media carried many un-sourced reports that gay vatican clergymen had been working together to advance their personal interests, leaving the holy see vulnerable to blackmail.. or gay vatican clergymen have been working to overcome the church's hatred of gays?.

Hortensia, sorry, didn't mean to hijack. The Holy See is a proper name, not a reporter's slant, fyi.

Go to the beach with a good book, specifically Crisis of Conscience. After you finish that read, you won't feel any guilt at all.

What rumors HAVEN'T I heard about myself? The thing now is that I'm a notorious "apostate." There was a woman who had just started studying with one of the JDubs from my mom's KH and I told her my experience to convince her to end her study. She did end her study after all. (Yay!) Imagine what my mom went through, when one of her spawn had ruined someone else's Bible study!
I think I've been DF'd but I don't know. Nobody ever told me. Some elders came to my door and I told them this: That I had become Catholic but appreciated their visit. That we are all equal in God's eyes, problem is we don't always act like it. I wished them success and then I left for work. All hell broke loose in my family after that and people started giving me looks at restaurants, etc.
My dad told me that I wrote a hateful letter to the "brothers" at the KH. Guess it was Sybil-Me because I wouldn't have agreed to their little piss ant rule of writing a letter to disassociate myself. As I said, we're all God's children in my eyes.

Shador, Re: forbidding priests to marry, that is a construct of men. It was due to disputes over who owned church lands, etc. Today there are about 100 married priests in the Catholic Church in the USA but they were clergy in other denominations who converted to Catholicism. Today's argument against married priests is that you can be a priest or you can be a husband and father but you can't be both and do it well. Shoot, half the priests are so busy they can't do their jobs well. I believe the ban on married priests will probably be lifted in the next 75-100 years. There is a rise in the numbers of permanent deacons who assist the priests because of the priest shortage. Most permanent deacons are married.
Re: the priesthood, that's a really long answer and I'm really tired. Not a copout, just the truth. I'll post the answer here tomorrow.

The Church doesn't hate gays. A gay person has to be celebate, as do all non-married persons, to be in a state of grace. Of course, not all non-married persons are chaste and they are still welcome in the Church, as are homosexuals. But the rules of the Church don't change with the society around it. The Church teaches that homosexual conduct is a sin; that sex outside of marriage is a sin. We believe marriage is between one man and one woman. The Church also believes in doing everything it can to help people who are single, whether gay or straight, to remain chaste through classes, groups, etc. Pretty much, the Church teaches what all Christian churches taught 100 years ago. Today, however, society has changed. The Church believes that Jesus made the rules and the Church doesn't have the authority to change them.
Yes, there are gay clergy in the Vatican who would like the Church to change its attitude and allow practicing homosexuals to be priests. Won't happen, ever. They need to get over it. Or become Episcopalian.
