so, the last few threads i've written have been about telling your families and friends how you feel; many of you have given me the reasons you don't speak out to your families, but i want to tell you the main reason you should.
please let me explain.... .
i keep on stressing this point because how it makes you feel, i'm telling you all, that for over 19 years, i let information about my thoughts out slowly, then the tipping point... at my uncle's funeral 2 february's ago, while listening to my family pontificate at dinner about who so and so is pioneering and the like, it hit me that i was sick to the core of them throwing their bullisi*t beliefs at me like i was inferior or something.
Junction Guy could simply ask where the idea of 1914 comes from in Scripture, there is nothing in Daniel except a prophecy about the king of babylon in Chap. 4 which explains itself and gives its fulfillment in the same chapter. Just show them how silly their explanation is and how it is going WAY "beyond what is written" !!!!

this is the title of an article from the august 1st issue of the watchtower (public edition).. it can be downloaded from http://www.jw.org/index.xjp?option=qryqzrqvnznt but is not yet available in print.. the absence of the divine name in nt manuscripts is vaguely described so as not to confuse the average jw reader.
the opening paragraph even gives the uninformed reader the impression that some of those nasty non-jw translators deliberately chose to omit the divine name.
bible scholars acknowledge that god's personal name appears in the old testament or hebrew scriptures.
The name jehovah did not appear until the 14th centuary? You'll be telling me next that God is not an Englishman!!!

This is run by Greg Stafford and he is building a new site at present, I hope it looks a bit more cheerfull than his present one!
I would not co-operate with any JC that wanted to pry into my mind or throw me out on the basis that I disagree with unscriptural teachings of the WT and I would threaten legal action if they tried to do so without my presence, not that i'm really in, i'm fading rapidly!!

i am sorry to hash and rehash this old topic, but i have a friend that has continually asked the wt's chronology of 607 and that historians do not agree with their thoughts on their selection of this date to "fit" their ideaolgies.
could someone give me information from credible historians that absolutely prove that 607 is impossible?
this person has looked up information and what they have found so far is that most websites or some persons on this site do not show conclusively that 607 is not credible.
If a person really respects the bible, and is prepared to read it and see what it says and not what the WT or anybody tells them what it says,( is that English?) then get them to look at Daniel Chapter 4 and see what it says that this chapter means in verses 24 and 25 and then ask them where the idea of 2520 years can be found ??? It dosn't matter if 607 is true or not (I think NOT) as the whole thing of 2520 years is NOWHERE in scripture.

identifying the "faithful and and discreet slave".
this question is mainly for former jws who consider themselves christians.
i'm wondering what or who, now that you are no longer in the society, you believe this "faithful and wise servant" ("faithful and discreet slave") is.
I have made the following observation on similar threads i.e that it is my beleif that we do not need to interpret parables any more than the plain lesson the story gives us, unless our Lord gives us extra info, as in the parable of the sower. We do not look to see the significance of every player in the parable of the prodigal son ,it is enough to know that a sinner is welcomed back having left his sin behind. Therefore I agree with previous comments that there is NO FAITHFULL and DISCREET SLAVE CLASS only servants of Christ who have the choice to be good at it or not.
So why listen to an elite group of a dozen or so men who go beyond what is written and label themselves as fullfilling what is not there in the first place?

the apostle paul said that death spread to all men because we all inherited adam's sin.. the human genome was mapped in 2000.. advances are being made in genetics.. britain recently allowed the creation of human-animal hybrids.. do you think eventually that scientists will find "sin"?.
i've just finished reading the language of god, a book about a scientist who headed the human genome project.
he was a former atheist but turned christian.
Sin is not a genetic problem, despite the Borgs dented tin explanation, if it was then soon scientists will solve it. I believe it to be more of a legal problem in that we could not inherit freedom from sin as Adam did not have such freedom to bequeeth to us, much as someone who gambles all their money away just leaves debts for his kids.So the sacrifice of J.C restores us to having the legal right to freedom from sin and death.

happy is that slave if his master on arriving finds him doing so.

I was thinking of posting on this topic for some time, I agree that to put any kind of prophetic interpretation on this parable of the slaves is to go beyond what is written, just as the WTBTS do with other parables, if they needed explaining then our Lord Jesus did so as with the parable of the sower. After all do we look for a "class" that fits the oyster that the pearl of high value came from? or is every character in the good samaritan prophetic? no, it is to teach us who truly is our neighbour.Who truly is "running ahead" by teaching traditions of men as though they are doctrine? Surely it is the WTBTS !

sorry lost half of what I wrote above, basically I was saying WT writers are hung up on imperfection being a genetic problem, if it was then genetic engineering would soon solve it. They forget their own teaching that it is a legal problem and so perfection cannot be passed on by Adam, imperfection is not passed on, rather a lack of perfection like the lack of an inheritance that an ancestor gambelled away.

many here are familiar with the wts request to "hold" the cash funds of congregations so that a higher rate of interest can be earned, not for the local congregation benefit, but for the society to use in the worldwide work.
in particular, the funds are loaned, with interest, to other congregations that need to build or remodel halls.. .
however, a new opportunity has presented itself to the wts.. .
In our Cong. in England a good while ago we were asked to vote on giving the ownership of our K.H to a charitable (?) Trust owned and run by guess who. As usual no dissenting vote was allowed, or discussion, so RAF meekly voted for the motion and even though many abstained this kind of vote cannot fail, especially when the RAF dont understand what is being done. I guess this vote went on in the whole of the UK ? So no individual Cong has control of the funds generated by a sale it all goes back to Mother.
