this must have been mentioned before, but now reniaa is back it could be fun.. if jw's are even part way to the truth, and all other religions are false, then they must have a doctrine that is unique to them, given by holy spirit, but plainly taught in the bible, without resorting to fancifull exegesis and bouncing around from verse to verse out of context etc.. what is that doctrine?.

Thanks poppers,
many on here willagree with you,but what we would like is some proof for this from those who believe it:
Yeartext of Jehovah’s Witnesses for 2009:
“Bear thorough witness to the good news”—Acts 20:24.
i haven't seen any comments on this yet.... in the december 15, 2008 "study" version of the watchtower, in the last study article (the one to be covered march 1), paragraph 14 reads thusly in part:.
"...one january evening, the man asked his wife, jodi, what she knew of jehovah's witnesses.
she was a catholic, and she said that the only thing she linked to the witnesses to was "door-to-door preaching".
I reckon an order has gone out to all beth- hell staff all over the world to hit the site as often as possible to keep it up there!
Can we start a campaign to promote this site like that?Would it work?

Earnest,
I am sorry if I sounded patronising, the written word often does not convey the feeling behind the words.
I certainly value your comments on here, but it just looked to me as though there was an attempt to get away from the question that Besty and I are seeking an answer to.If I am wrong I apologise again, and perhaps you would be kind enough to contribute the answer?

Earnest,
I think you have been on the same night-school course as Reniaa,"How to hi-jack a thread"
this thread is not about Jesus as mediator or as saviour, and Besty and I want answers to what is basically the same question,
"On what is the claim that Jesus chose the IBS in 1919 based, what scriptural teaching that they held uniquely then and still hold to?"
If you want to start a thread on the JW view that only the 144,000 directly gain salvation from Jesus and all others get it via the 144,000,which is how I understand their explanation, then do so,but not on this thread.
Many thanks

We've travelled a long way together on this thread, and thanks again to all that contribute, but we don't seem to have an answer to the first question,
to summarise "If as the GB claims today, they are God's Channel because Jesus inspected them in1919,and found they alone were giving some spiritual food,or doctrine if you like, that no other group were,so Jesus could make up his mind and appoint them over his belongings,
What is that Doctrine or teaching?
As has been pointed out, other groups taught more of what is considered today by the GB to be truth in 1919 than did the Bible Students,so where is this teaching, plainly seen in scripture without spiritual gymnastics, that singled them out in 1919?The one that Jesus said "yes I plainly taught that, and they alone are teaching it in 1919",if Jesus couldn't see that, why pick the Bible Students?
If it cannot be produced then the JW/GB is LYING about being appointed.
as the JW's claim to be in "The Truth" this should be very simple to answer.

Reniaa, "The Holy Spirit must have been acting on or around that time for them to have been gifted with so many bible truths"
They taught NOTHING at the time that other religions were not teaching that THEY now consider to be Bible Truth!!!!
They also taught the cross, had no respect for the use of blood, supported the War,that Jesus prescence began in 1874,etc. etc. etc.
"on or around that time" WT speak at it's best,is three and a half years approximate, or is it really forty-two months? (hence 1919,from 1914)
Why would Jesus, our Lord, who knows the Truth, not have chosen say the "Christadelphians",who taught from the mid-1800's much as JW's teach TODAY,without change, rather than a bunch of people who taught that C.S Russell was the Faithfull and Discreet Slave that they were being appointed to be?
Can you really not see how very silly all the claims are? or are you just here to put some weird point of view which may put a "Lurker" on the track back into the Cult?
Love ,in confusion as to your motive and truthfullness,

"Earnest" wants us to substitute "go-between" for mediator, O.K lets do this in 1Tim2v5&6,
" there is one go-between God and men,a man,Christ Jesus, who gave himself a corresponding ransom for all"
How does that change the truth that Jesus is the way the truth and the life, that he alone explains the Father, that we approach the father through him alone, and God responds to us through Him alone, and His ransom is for ALL.
No F.D.S or G.B in between,no one else needed to explain scripture,no limit on the number who can take advantage, in faith, of this go-between, just me Jesus and The Father, show me from scripture where you read differently.

Spot on Roddy,
And that is what I was trying to get at,it seems to me that when it comes down to the nitty-gritty the majority of Dubs support the religion for emotional reasons,"I feel this or that"
What I would like to know is how to combat that unreasoning attitude,so as to free them to choose whatever life they really want, the problem is that the emotions have been programmed in by the mind control techniques of the cult, and so are not genuine emotions.
I do not have any agenda to impose my,or anybody elses beliefs on anybody,as John Doe imputes, I simply seek a way out of the impasse that my nearest and dearest present to me when they play the emotional card,so as to avoid even looking at the logical or doctrinal arguments.
How do I get them to "see"?
