  Did you have a way to pump yourself up for giving talks?

  some people imagine the crowd in their underwear.

  i used to pump myself up by listening to ll cool j's "mama said knock you out".

  that probably seems pretty strange, considering how rap music is frowned on by the borg.

  I actually believed I had to do my best for my Bros. and Sistas, I always got nervous,especially before a Public Talk,but I prepared well,with lots of stuff culled from independant sources, BIble Commentaries etc. (no internet then)

  And I used to Pray before I went on,and after, I would give a prayer of thanks.

  Sounds a bit prissy now,but I believed that it worked,and someone wrote to me the other day and mentioned the talks I used to give in a favourable way,so I guess somehow my pumping up method did something.

  Eventually I asked to be relieved of the "privilege" of Public Talks,as the outlines were such utter crap and they were coming down a bit on independant stuff.

  SIT DOWN!.....i am going to the meeting next week for sex....

  actually...i am just hoping that mo/betta sex is just a huge fringe benefit (really hoping that!!!!!!!

  ) ......i may start going one or two times a month........and it was an idea handed to me by my friend bonnzo here.

  he is a great guy all around....who loves his old pioneer mom enough to keep going to the meetings a bit instead of doing what we would both like to and walk away......actually we both would probably prefer that all our family and friends walked away and then it would not even be like walking away.

  Whereabouts in the kingdom Hall will you have it?

  Our congo had a couple of rooms you could lock the door on,and a loft you could slip up into, I don't think I could manage it IN the hall though,wrong atmos.

  What is the general "mood" these days of Dubs at meetings and assemblies?

  i haven't been inside a kingdom hall since 1998. back then, the change in the 1914 "generation" teaching was still sinking in and the "mood" then was one of confusion and head-scratching about what it all meant.. it is difficult for me to imagine how the "mood" now could be anything other than one of disappointment and doubt...even if it is not openly expressed.. do you think at some point there will be critical mass of doubts (and doubters) that will just start spilling out when dubs realize that others around them feel the same way?.

  I think that there is a problem,with being able to appoint enough guys willing to take on the work,but I was in the Borg for so long I have seen this many times before,and still the monster lives!

  It never ceased to amaze me that the unlikeliest guys took "The Queens Shilling"or "Grasped the nettle" and actually didn't do a half bad job.Now I know the calibre is going down fast,but with the moderrn format of "Meetings for numb-nuts" all scripted ,and no real need to fire- up any brain cells, it dosn't really matter.

  I think though there is an undercurrent of depression as people realise that there is a smell in the air,and the smell is BULL**IT!

  I give it five years before the credit crunch and the internet combined bring about major panic at the Tower. then what????

  can't help being impressed by similar profiles of our leolaia and that young british student, gail trimble, who won the university challenge on bbc 4: they both are linguistic scholars in latin and greek and, yes, they even look alike, imo.

  Dear Leolaia,

  I often wonder where you got your great learning,and what your contact with Dubs was,did you once inhabit the world of Dubland in ignorance as most of us did?

  I agree with your opinion of Gail Trimble,but having seen the whole series,she did give the impression in early rounds that she was rather self-satisfied and over-confident,but I am sure those are false impressions,good luck to her in the future!

  there are almost 1000 more partaking at the memorial than 20 years ago.

  this is probably the least opposition jw's have ever faced in their history.

  I don't foresee a mass exodus,mores the pity,but the ones leaving at present are not insignificant in number.

  Also, as has been pointed out,it is often the quality ones who go,formely energetic stalwarts,many were very loving,and many were the ones who knew their Bible and could make it interesting to the audience.

  I think the real danger JW's face is boring people to the point that they fade away.If our old Congo was anything like typical,about 30% were missing for any one meeting,and many were late,often coming only for the second half.

  It dosn't bode well,nor should it.

  Healthy Breasts: Searching for Lumps

  i dread going for a breast check up - having my boob flattend is painful and if i don't have to go i won't.. saying that tho i do do the persoanl check.

  lying down and feeling the breast - though i'm not sure if i'm doing it right and if what i'm feeling is normal or not.

  how do i tell the difference between a lump, a muscle or just fat - because the other night i got a bit of a scare.

  This is a BTT as I think it is vital that all you lovely ladies keep an eye on things, early diagnosis of a problem is SO important. and if the problem is minor,as was my Wifes a couple of years ago,it is still better dealt with early.

  I don't think he does the JW's any favours,as his arguments are so thin and often circular,that any doubter is bound to see through them,and if that is the best the Dubs can do,then God help them.

  ExJWs either BAs or atheists -- do you agree?

  a week or two ago, a poster (i forget who; sorry) noted that exjws tend to fall into two camps -- born-again christians or atheists/agnostics.

  there doesn't appear to be much of a middle ground, e.g.

  joining a traditional, mainstream religion.. the observation has some merit to it.

  I lean towards Megaflowers position,I think ALL religions,in the sense of organised,have a denominational name etc. are made by Men for men and ALL contain error!

  I still believe in God,but call myself a Scientific christian,in the sense that, as with science, if facts come along that change or disprove a hypothesis or a theory,you go along with the facts.

  I approach my belief in a similar way,not to say that it rests on facts,but that I am willing to change when compelling argument comes along.

  Having said that I still have a faith in God (i.e irrational)

  Not Born Again though,I havn't had a dramatic "encounter" with Jesus, I do believe that he is the Way,Truth and Life,and truly God.
