What aspect of a JW's life is not policed by the Stazi/Nazi Elders ?

The problem with this sort of mind control is that even decent Elders feel guilty if they are seen to be "soft" on "wrongdoers" and the whole org. gets harsher and meaner.

The R&F roll over and accept this kind of outrageous behaviour and attitude. I see they had to pretend someone else did the spying on the girls FB page or wherever,and then informed them. The R&F see nothing wrong with using a system of informers, the parallels between Cold War Communist regimes and the workings of the WT are amazing.

Logical Questions to Make Them Think?

this has no doubt been covered before and if anyone has any favourite threads on this subject perhaps they could post them here .

what are your best one liners/questions to make jw's think?.

i had a heated conversation with my mum this weekend and apart from mainly going round in circles (as is often the case with brainwashed cult members) one thing made her stop and i could see that she was having major trouble processing the logic.

I have question about the new light on the statues toes

my son went to the dc this past weekend and we visited on the phone for a bit about what he picked up there.

he of course was sad and worried for us because we no longer have anything to do with the org.

we covered alot of issues that had to do with why i felt that the org did not have gods holy spirit.

It is interesting to read the exegesis of these verses from Daniel by Bible commentators and scholars who have no connection to any apocalyptic end-time cults or religious movements.

To a man, or woman, almost, they agree that Daniel was written around the 2nd century B.C , and that this "prophecy" is no such thing, but is made to appear so by the way that "Daniel" writes, and the various parts of the Image are the various political powers down to the writers time.

Nothing to do with 21st century world, not the toes, not any of it.

Read these for yourself and you will soon get rid of any latent fear that these false prophets of the W.T, and other end-time groups, have anything at all to base their crazy ideas on.

Biblical expertise of the GB and WT writing committees?

i was just wondering if i'm correct about something; namely, that the society's leaders don't appear to know much about the bible from a secular, scholarly, or historical perspective.. i've seen quotes posted here where they claim you don't need to be an expert to interpret the bible's true meaning.

that's not exactly encouraging.

but does anyone know much about their real world, practical knowledge of the bible from a non-religious perspective?.

They have NEVER had a recognised scholar in any of the biblical fields on the payroll.

They are unbelievably unqualified to pontificate on what the bible means.

They are very clever at using words to suit their purpose of keeping the R&F JW's working hard and living in thrall to the Governing Body.

i am having my second birthday out of the jws on the 14th of july the first after disfellowshipping and just need a few ideas for the day.

we went to arudel today to do pre birthday shopping so i am really looking forward to see what goodies they found.

Aloha, I'm new and in need of legal advice

so i've been told there are a few people on her that could help me with this problem?.

to cut a very long story short, i was raised a jw, i left the wt in january to be with my partner, a non-jw.

i was marked for dating, even though i hadn't attended a meeting since december.

The Governing Body has NEVER claimed to be inspired

there was a recent thread here which covered the subject of the gb claiming to be spirit directed (and not actually inspired by the holy spirit).

by now, most of us are quite aware that this is just a play with words to excuse themselves whenever one of their false doctrines is debunked (by someone using the bible or their own publications).

but when you think of it, spirit-directed is actually more presumptuous than spirit-inspired.. that being said, id really like to draw attention to the fact that the wt continuously claims that the governing body of jehovahs witnesses has never claimed to be inspired by god (through his holy spirit).

Good catch Alfred, the JW's outright lie about this, their immediate defense will be, "That was back in 1955, we have since learned we are a spirit-directed organization, not inspired".

Then try to get them to define the difference between the two, good luck with that !

I've seen this guy before, I think it is quite well done, a bit tongue in cheek, not full of bile, and could make an active dub think, if such a thing is possible, it certainly does a good job of alerting the public to what a wacky, far out cult they are !

I don't know how immigration to the USA works exactly, but surely if you want citizenship, you would have to swear some sort of allegience ?

Would J.W's qualify if they outlined their beleifs as they truly are ? I doubt it, so he has a point , Expel them !!

My faith rested on Jehovah and Jesus, I believed the Bible to be the word of the true God. His word to man, I knew too, that Jesus was The Word, and so His example was paramount.

Even if I believed those things now, I could not associate with Jehovah's Witnesses.

I was born in to the religion, my grandmother believed it was "The Truth" , I grew up to develop a Bible trained conscience, not a conscience ruled, moulded, and changed at a whim by a group of men in Brooklyn, but a conscience based on what the Bible actually says.

The Bible makes it plain, Jesus makes it plain, that worship belongs exclusively to His Father, Almighty God.

True believers allow nothing or nobody to come between them and their exempler Christ, and their worship to God is offered through him in the sense that they have accepted Jesus as their Eternal Father. without that, there is no hope.

Is any of what I have said above wrong, in scripture ?

The Governing body of J.W's will tell you I have it all wrong, only they are the mediator for me, Christ is not my Eternal father, my worship only goes through them.

I cannot associate with blasphemous liars such as them, nor support their empire, you are not being true to yourself or the Bible, or The Master, Christ if you continue so to do.

You are sharing in the table of demons.

Please do not be offended at what I have written, it is done out of love, I do not wish to see you waste your life and talents in the service of false religion.

How many current teachings have not been altered at all?

a point in another thread about the organization being directed by holy spirit made me think of this question.. is there a single teaching from the start of the witnesses that remains unchanged to this day?.

i've spent a few minutes and haven't come up with a single current teaching that hasn't been altered somehow.. - initially there wasn't a paradise earth, all were going to heaven.

- door to door was more public protests.

I think Cantleave nailed the two that haven't changed since the time of Russell.

Even their concept of the divinity (or lack of) of Christ has changed since Chazzer's time.

Interesting thread Paralipomenon, thanks ! and I think you could ask this question of an active JW without raising alarm or annoyance.

Probably best to get them to go away and think about it, and get back to you.

As it really does boil down to those two, it puts more pressure on their claim that in 1919 Jesus chose his FDS on the basis of what they were teaching then, just those two vague things, about doctrines that are "not", so then ask "nothing positive to teach at the time then ?"

Watch them flounder, wait for bluster and bu***it. (Be forearmed as to what they were not teaching at the time.)
