  over the last couple of years, i have done a lot of reading, and rather than answering my questions, it has made me think even more - particularly about god and the bible.. when i was kicked out of the wtbts, it was because of my personal belief in jesus.

  Isn't it great though to be able to air these questions, to get the honest viewpoint of a number of people, whose actual views may be at odds with ours, and yet we have done so in a spirit of tolerance and free exchange of ideas ?

  It just shows what a wonderful place JWN is !

  Those questions and thougts would have to be suppressed if we were still JW's ,and we would have no exposure to differing views from those of the WT.

  Jesus is NOT the Mediator for the Great Crowd?

  so according to the watchtower, jesus is not the mediator for the great crowd.

  evidently jesus is only mediator for the anointed.

  this means that about 99.9% of jehovahs witnesses cant say that jesus is their mediator.

  What is the difference though for the great crowd of O.S? surely if Jesus does not mediate for them, they have to get the little flock to do it for them, much the same way as catholics with their saints, Russell used to refer to those with a heavenly hope as "The Saints", it seems a very similar doctrine to me.

  Another case of the WT hypocritically condemning the catholic Church whilst practicing the same thing.

  The two witness rule on child abuse still makes my blood boil

  today while i was working i remembered a wt on there having to be two witness to a person who comes forward later in life saying he had been molested as a chld and i was thinking no it really could not have been to blatant like i remembered it.

  sadly i did find it and no i remembered it right.

  it to me is sick!

  The JW's/WT should be ashamed of their lack of love and concern for the vulnerable, they still, in 2011, do not have an active proramme to protect the vulnerable, oh yes, on paper they have a"policy", but they do not implement the measures that respectable organizations and churches do to protect those at risk.

  They should have an appointed person who is responsible for protection on every occasion they meet, even in private homes for F.S.

  No adult not vetted and approved should be alone with a vulnerable person ever. Etc Etc Not even in the toilet facilities at the K.H

  The WT has no concern for the victims, past ,present or future, they only care about covering up the abuse that goes on, and will continue to go on, and protecting their sorry ass from law suits.

  I hope this lack of care comes back to bite them in the bum.

  Good to see you posting Paulapollos, and such searching questions too ! Good luck with getting satisfactory answers.

  Just to take one, the question of Evil, the Archbishop of Canterbury dismissed this the other day, with the haughty remark that "this question has been answered", (or words to that effect) but I have never seen an answer that made sense.

  If a Theologian of his standing has to dodge the question, as I say, good luck with getting good answers.

  I wish JW's would stay home when they are sick!

  as some of you know my husband got pneumonia on the way down to lake tahoe and wound up in the hospital.

  we have not been around anyone that was sick nor did he seem to have a cold he just got pneumonia.

  i had, had surgery for hernias amost three weeks ago but i doubt that gave him exposure to pneumonia.. well out of the blue while i was in tahoe a older sister called me and told me one of the elders had bronchitis really bad.

  i came across a website that presents decent argumentation against three main areas of jw doctrine.. http://jwreform.org/index.html.

  who do these people think they are?

  do they really believe that the wts will sit up and take notice of their objections?

  They only react to circumstances, they are never prescient, so procedures are changing only to save $$$, doctines only change when $$$ are threatened, i.e they had to change the generation thing, or contributing members would have walked in droves come 2014.

  Any hope of reform on the basis of what is right, just, loving, scriptural or following the example of Christ is never going to happen.

  For Christians, Christ is King, for the WT the Mighty Dollar is King.

  Whether Emma would have survived or not is probably impossible to establish, and is just the kind of red herring JW's throw in if you discuss a case like this.

  More pertinent is, who are the two lovely children going to blame for having no mum when they grow up and the WT is no more, or at least the murderous non-scriptural blood doctrine is no more ?

  I hope they are able to forgive their close family, who were indoctinated by a cult, but they should always hold the WT accountable.

  I agree with the thread title 100%

  Don't waste your life trying, get out, lead a happy fulfilling life, that "silent witness" may help a few out, who knows?

  At least you will be living, not just existing for some hoped for future situation, the freeing of your loved ones, or the reform of the WT, both of which may never happen.
