with canada having observed its own thanksgiving day, i am reminded that the holidays are approaching beginning with halloween and terminating with twelfth night on 5 january.
this will be an interesting holiday season for me.
when i became one of jehovah's witnesses, i gave them all up of course.
I celebrate every holiday there is ,religious ones from anywhere,secular ones from anywhere, by raising a glass to those involved.
I feel it is my duty as ahuman to join in the celebrations of other humans (actually it is because I am a drunk and look for any excuse to raise a glass !)

i just wanted to expand on one point he came close to articulating, namely the loss of brand identity by the organization.. there have been branded products that faded away - such as burma shave, once known for its clever signs along the highway ("angels who guard you/when you drive/usually retire/ at 65 - burma shave").
a brand often involves a symbol or some easy way for the public to distinguish them from everybody else.. step back and look at the organization.

As to the fading Brand I.D of the WT I think you have a point, not that your average Joe would know or care what was the difference between the JW's and the Mormons etc. but the DtoD work and the printed Mag/rags is what they are known for, so as they scale that down they will become much more of an obscure cult, like the Plymouth Brethren say, tucked away from public view.
I just hope they fade right away.

there was a lot of talk on the forum about how there will be death in the new system so i decided to ask some questions concerning that logic.

I browsed on there too one time, it made me want to throw up, I know that even when I was at my most active in the JW's I could not have written anything like that s**t they put on there, I think any active JW reading it who was a bit like I was ,would be just as aware that it all sounds so false, so it may serve a purpose
The accounts disabled etc may alert some too, it just shows that they have no answer to valid questions ,except to ignore the question and stifle the questioner.

I hope you are right Cantleave, I was 58 when I finally walked away, born in, baptised at twelve , walked away 2008.
If the age group you mention are leaving in sufficient numbers it will make the hangers on think, and there will be real problems in running the whole shebang, the older ones can only do so much and don't have the ability with technology to make any job easy,(my 70 year old B.I.L is Service Overseer and has to bring in help on the computer all the time LOL) the young ones don't want to know anyway as a rule, so suckers to do the many jobs will be harder to find.

Nothing scary,despite my being quite blasphemous on occasion, attending church services etc etc
The only slightly scary aspect for some is the total freedom which brings total responsibility, when we were in the Borg we could always do the Nazi supporter thing and claim we were only following orders, once you are free you are answerable for all your actions.
But I found that freedom so wonderful, and not scary to me at all, but I know many JW's liked to have all their thinking and decision making done for them, that type of person has to grow up all of a sudden.

so i was reading ahead in the bookstudy book "bearing thorough witness" about god's kingdom, and i came upon some shockingly direct damage control on behalf of the gb in the material for the upcoming weeks.. on page 104: what a privilege it is to be instructed and molded by our patient and kind heavenly father!
the results are always good and always to our advantage.
so let us never proudly push ahead with our own ideas or react negatively to organizational changes or to adjusted explanations of certain scriptures.
