the several threads on the literal 144,000 got me to thinking about this: it is getting pretty obvious that the literal 144,000 is at least getting very questionable and likely will not be able to stand long without a serious remodeling.

What exactly is their main selling point nowadays, can they really expect the HH's whose door they knock on to swallow the "last Days" and imminence of the big A like they used to ?
That is a really embarrassing message to actually put in to words.
I reckon if the average JW is asked to explain his faith he would run a mile, if they can't just shove a couple of their trashy mags into the HH's hand they are gone.
i have been out for a long time.
but, i remember "overcoming objections" was a big part of developing the jw mindset and was a regular drill at the tms.
is that term still part of the jw lexicon?.
Most JW's that I went Dto D with back in the day, were total crap at even starting conversations, so they never got to try the art of overcoming a conversation stopper.
I used to work on my own if I could, 99 times out of a hundred, that way nobody got to see that I had some great chats with people, but that I was not actually trying to recruit.
I had one lady say to me "I have enjoyed talking to you, I just can't stand those Jehovah's Witnesses " ! Result !
Another guy I remember invited me in for a drink and chat, I am sure he didn't have a clue what I was supposed to be there for, Tee Hee.

First of all, you have to find a pure JW, an uncorrupted one, but in my experience the pure JW does not exist, they all have their skeletons in the cupboard, their "weak" points, even by their own standards.

i heard this from a man at a door this morning.... it was in response to the question, "do you think god has only one true religion?
" it was asked by an elder i was with.
he did all the talking at the doors.
The Elder's response was typical of JW's generally, if they cannot answer what is offered to them, they run a mile, and they do not want any other JW coming in to contact with someone who may make them look at themselves and their faith in an honest manner.
If they had the "Truth" they would have no such fear, but would rather relish the chance to show that their religion was The One.
The hypocrisy and dishonesty of their actions speaks volumes.

we hooked up with a family member who is married and in bethel 15+ years.
it's almost too exhausting to go into the details here so i'll condense everything into a few main areas that were talked about over a few days.. bottom line, my wife and i finally let them know that we are not jw's anymore and so far it looks like they aren't going to shun us.
we had a really nice time with them and their witness friends who assumed we were jw's too and couldn't have been nicer.. our bethelite family members had no idea what we had been through at the hands of he elders that was the final shove out of the organization and were in agreement that things were handled badly.
They know nothing about anything apart from what they have read in the WT.
Sad, the real "them" seems to be O.K, but the "Cult" them won't let them BE real.
