I think you should go for Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams is a long-haired beardie, and he got the gig.
The pay, perks and pension are so much better as Arch-Bish as well ! And you get to appear in TV sit-coms and all sorts !
could a man with long hair and a scruffy face make it up to elder status?.
ive seen some a list actors with long hair and beards at award shows.
they looked sexy, mature, and profesional.. think a guy like that could make it?.

perhaps this is a common topic for newbies on the site, but i have browsed for a while and not seen this exactly answered.. as an active jw who understands the flaws in wts doctrine, but believes in the bible, how do i identify a form of worship that meets all the criterea:.
1) by this all will know you are my disciples if you have love among yourselves (john 13:35).
sure i know that not all jws do this, and that people from other religions or non-religious people do this also, but as an official doctrine jws will not kill one another in war, and in general there is a genuine effort to exercise "agape" love not widely found in the world at large.. 2) preach the good news.
In your O.P you said " JW's direct attention to God, Jesus and the Kingdom"
In my experience JW's simply direct people to the Watchtower organization. They do not have a clear scriptural grasp of what the Kingdom is, so they can hardly "direct" to it.
Take away their WT publications and leave them with only the Bible and 99.9% of JW's could not give any kind of "witness", apart from a witness to the fact that they are slaves of a publishing corproration, not slaves of Christ.
please go to the following site and read the challenge before reading my own response.. .

the above site consists of apologia to ex-jw's and refuting their criticism of the watchtower and gb.. .
Thanks Terry, I visited the site I could not see on there where one could post a riposte ??
I can see a bit of crafty reasoning "where did the WT say they were inspired prophets ?" of course , the two words "inspired" and "prophet" may not have been used together (?) but, regardless, what other kind of prophet for God could there be , but an inspired one, unless "he" was a false one ?
Whoever produced the site is an intellectually dishonest person, trying to defend the indefensible.

Why does the Supreme Being need "witnesses", is he like the gods in Isaiah, unable to speak for Himself ?
greetings.. http://www.jehovah.to/xlation/fp.html.
"do not interpretations belong to god?".
but as the saying goes; you can never satisfy a critic.. .
WMF, you are spot on, Damn Troll.
The only good thing is that as has been said before, all the true stuff posted here (above) by us 'poztates will hit an honest hearted JW right betweenthe eyes !
Manky/trthrejector has done more to expose the WT as frauds and liers than if he had kept quiet.
I think he is really on our side.
hi, i just wanted to know as i came here believing it is an 'anti-jw' site.
or at least one where former jws can meet together (or ones struggling within the wt).
yet looking at some early posts it seems it was originally for active jws.
Hi Tornapart !
I'm not sure if I said WELCOME to you, but anyway, there is a big one !
Why not tell us more of your story ? It is always good to hear how people "woke up", and how they are doing. Your name on here reminds me of how I felt, as a born in, and in for over 50 years, when my world fell apart.
Welcome again
i see a few want to believe in the watchtower's view of bible prophecy, scriptural understandings and the view that the "anointed remnant" dispense the "spiritual food at the proper time".. how would you refute those views?.
In early 2007. I sat and read the first few chapters of Daniel. It struck me then that the whole 1914 thing was made up, and badly made up at that, and had no support whatever from scripture.
I stopped going Dto D straight away, how could I ask people to study a book ("Bible Teach") that taught a LIE !
In all conscience I could not.
After that, as you say, tornapart, the whole house of cards that is WT teaching fell apart.
is this an unscriptural and sectarian (divisive) notion?.
the word christian/s appears only 3 times in scripture.. footnotes (for these 3 scriptures) in the aramaic english bible (by andrew gabriel roth) say that this label came from outside and was not used between believers or by the apostles in reference to themselves.. one imagines paul saying there is neither jew, nor christian, nor muslim, nor hindu....
Who really was the God of Abraham ?
i have been lurking on this site for the past 2 months.
for the past few years i have been going to the meetings and doing fieldservice out of guilt.. my husband (twisty) told me regularly i only do it out of guilt but i denied it and said it i want to do these things because i love jehovah and it is the right thing to do, but how can it be the right thing if you don't feel welcome and it feels like everyone is judging you the moment you walk into the kingdom hall.. it has taken a few years and a lot of tears to open my eyes.. over the past few years twisty spoke to me about the various things he didn't agree with but it just went over my head.
a few months ago we were lying in bed and he brought up his concerns again, and i'm not sure what was different this time but i understood and agreed with the points he was making.
Welcome all new members ! Join our happy bunch here in building eachother up !

The letter to the Hebrews, whoever wrote it, was probably written around the end of the first century. You may claim earlier, but I would wish to see proof, and anyway the later the better if you are going to claim some extensive organizational arrangements.
Even around 90CE the churches would have been little more than House Churches, what evidnece is there for more ? So, the "leaders" who are referred to would be Apostles if any were still alive, and those taking the lead in establishing the congregations that existed.
I am at present doubtful that to base ones life now on what was written 2000 years ago is a good idea in a literal sense, but if you are determined to do so, I can see little for you to dobut to join the smallest group of Chrisitans you can find who stick rigidly to the Gospel that Paul preached, as he hinmself said to the Galations:
"it doesn't matter if that person is one of us, or an angel from heaven, I have said it before and I will say it again, I hope God will punish anyone who preaches anything different from what you have already believed". Gal. 1 v8&9 C.E.V
Now, Paul wrote the above words around 55CE it is estimated, so the teahing at that time was the simple Gospel the first followers of Christ took to unbelievers, nothing more, so beware of groups you wish to join who add to that simple message i.e "Christ resurrected".
