I would love to see justice for this poor young lady,but I am not a believer in an eye for an eye in a literal sense,it would achieve little I fear after the initial publicity has been forgotten.
Some way needs to be found to expose the mans thinking as wrong on a constant,daily, basis,in an effort to change the society that brings forth a monster like him.

why aren't members of your institute publishing their ideas in prominent peer-reviewed journals such as science, nature, or the proceedings of the national academy of sciences?
if you want to be taken seriously by scientists and scholars, this is where you need to publish.

This is true of the places mentioned,where the anti-evolution people have a case though,is that so much that is presented as proven fact either has not, or more likely cannot, be supported empirically.
Of course the God squad cannot prove empirically that he exists,apart from the observable phenomena of having believers,then we are into a Dub style circular argument proof!
My one fear in all of this is that enlightenment may be the loser,some scientists have been shown to change their conclusions or perhaps their findings because they do not fit what is present scientific orthodoxy,and Dawkins or somebody will call them an idiot.They are afraid to go against "Present truth"
Also approaching research with a mind not open to any and all possibilities is not a true scientific approach.

after sending my disfellowshipped sister-in-law a valentine's card last week, she sent me an email.

after 15 years of being disfellowshipped, she told me that she reinstated one month ago.

You are of course right Earnest,the average Dub,I believe does what I did over this issue of 1919,and shoves it to the back of his mind,to be dealt with "later" with all the other awkward questions that come to mind as one lives a life as a Witness.
But when confronted with the question,Where is the proof for this fantastic claim? They still do not see the significance,that being that if there is no proof and it did not happen,the GB/writers are NOT directed by Holy Spirit today,and JW's are not God's organization.
So to convince me that they are I need SOME proof,a little like the proof that attested Paul was an Apostle would do.

I avoided the use of Bro or Sis when I was in as much as possible,when I gave my first Service meeting item,when I was just a teenager,I was counselled afterwards,in a very kindly way,for calling everybody by their christian name.
I t never did sit well with me that true friends had this formal way of address.
The funniest instance I remember was when a guy obviously forgot his own surname,because he called for an answer from:
"Sister er er er Oh dammit Mother!"

i just got back from helping to put out some hay, which i've done for three years and i just saw something i've never seen before.

i have been scratching my head...is there a scriptural basis for the reinstatement process for a df'ed person?
it seems that biblically, the people who strayed were welcomed back as soon as they repented (ie: the prodigal son, etc.).
is there any basis for a review of a person's heart by a body of elders, a 6 month minimum waiting period to determine repentance, limitation of privileges as part of the restoration process?
The scriptural basis is as Isaac says,for the act of re-instatement,from2Cor. Interestingly a number of commentators feel that Paul is not here referring to the same person as in 1Cor. A case of the WT not doing their homework again?
I wouldn't concern myself with this,if it wasn't that I have seen it mis-used to get a speedy re-instatement for an individual with un-doubted paedophile tendencies.
He didn't even have to go through any hoops!!! Just pulled strings,wrote constantly to Bethel etc. IMO he should still be out,he is a danger.
I suspect the process of making the person grovel,if it occurs in any measure,is not to be found in scripture.

i know this may seen an obvious question but i'm wondering if their downward financial situation is accelerating in the last five years.. we know of the large real estate sell-offs in brooklyn and their large bethel layoffs -- things they never report on in their publications.
pushing more and more of the traveling overseer expenses to the local circuit and congregations.
how they have taken a lot of shortcuts with regards their printing operations.
I wonder if the present management have the same faith they are supposed to have had in 1919?
Though I think this story is apocryphal,or at least very witness-doctored,the attitude is interesting:
"First of all, where should they locate the Society’s offices? Should they move the headquarters back to Brooklyn? The Society’s board of directors considered the matter, and a committee was appointed to check into the situation.
Brother Rutherford instructed C. A. Wise, the Society’s vice president, to go to Brooklyn to see about reopening Bethel and renting premises where the Society could begin printing operations. Desirous of knowing what course God would bless, Brother Rutherford said: “Go and see whether it is the Lord’s will for us to return back to Brooklyn.”
“How will I determine as to whether it is the Lord’s will for us to go back or not?” asked Brother Wise.
“It was a failure to get coal supplies in 1918 that drove us from Brooklyn back to Pittsburgh,” Brother Rutherford replied. “Let’s make coal the test. You go and order some coal.”
“How many tons do you think I should order to make the test?”

I think if they were spirit directed today that they would have been guided to sell up,lock stock and barrel,years ago in Brooklyn,when proprty was at its highest value.
