i read a lot of the topics and subjects in this forum, and can't help but to ask, if the witnesses ideas are not the way, then which way is?.
i was a witness for over 25 years and have been out of the organization for over 3 years now.
yet, i have a hard time seeing anyone else's way as the right way to go.

I concur with all of the above,especially about the books to read,and Ray's "In Search of Christian Freedom" really does what it says in the title,it leads you to Christian freedom.
I also wish to say that I believe ALL organised religions contain error,and are made by men for men,not by God.

do the jw's still believe that they were chosen by jesus as god's one true religion, by what charles russel taught?
do they stand on that or do they feel they were chosen later under rutherford?
if they accept that russel was chosen and rutherford changed things up, wouldn't rutherford be an apostate?.

A question I asked on this was,and it sparked a big thread on here,if they were chosen in 1918-9 by JC,there must be one teaching that they had then,that they still teach today,that is unique to them,coz other groups taught much of what they teach today,and were truly neutral,not buying War bonds etc.
So what is this teaching that persuaded Jesus to choose them over better placed religious groups ??????

first one in at least 5 years.......wife does not want to sit in and i just told her if she does not, then i am not either.....this loss of faith thingy has really been rough on our marriage.......i have decided to not bring up a single issue i have........i will relate to them my illustration of the taxi driver who keeps giving out bad directions i posted yesterday.......i think what will surprise them maybe is that my loss of faith goes way beyond wt.......i have lost virtually faith in the bible and god......one has already told the "first place to start is to get going to the meetings again!"....lmao!!!.........
i hope their programed brains can grasp that maybe you need faith in a god first.....then find out what method (or book) he is using to educate us if he wants to....and then if you feel the need....look around to find out if there is a group of folks who all have similar beliefs.........this should be interesting...........oompa.

I have asked several witlesses to prove to me it is God's Organization in any way they like,from the Bible alone,not taking verses out of context or reading stuff INTO verses. I am still waiting for them to get back to me. How long will it take?

yes, it's that time of year, once again, when the society starts reliving jesus' last few days on earth as a human.... in addition to all the propaganda about the 144,000 and only they being "allowed" to partake of jesus' blood and body at the annual jw deny christ ritual...another jw teaching, though not as dissected, is the teaching that judas iscariot left the room before the bread and wine were shared with the apostles.. it's important to jw doctrine that this be the case.
because only those who make up the true christian congregation, the annointed, the first of these the faithful apostles, are to partake of these emblems.
if jesus was already aware of judas' plan to betray him and yet judas was present for this new, important ritual, it would be rendered useless by his partaking.
The rest of Luke and book two (Acts) seem to be in chronological order,so why not this bit?????

i have my jw bible but also have the good news bible that was used at the lutheran church i went to for about 8 yrs back in the 80's.. one (jw)is hard to read and understand some of the books and the (good news)other is to easy and leaves somethings out, well the jw one does to.. .

I use the Contempory English Version,published by Harper Collins,ISBN 0 00 220197 6,it is very readable and yet accurate with helpful notes.

sure the wt deceived you with its claim to be god's channel but why for so many is there a subsequent loss of faith in god ?
it puzzles me and makes me wonder why they were jw's in the first place..
Yup I wonder that too,except I know that leaving has given me the freedom to question everything.
I think when we leave we go through a progression of changes,especially emotionally,that are unique to each,but similar in many,going from anger and trying to bring down the WTB$,to trying to wakeup those we know who are in,to looking at our own beliefs and where they come from and how valid they are.
I find I am tolerant now of all positions,and certainly think that an Atheistic world view is a valid intellectual position which I respect.
I still believe in God,in Jesus,and to a degree the Bible,but I read that in a different way now,realising its limitations.

i had a frank discussion with my parents yesterday that ended up in the cul-de-sac of "how did the organisation start?
" i told them that all they need to know about the origins of the org are in the proclaimers book, of how chuck started his own religion, or how he got his ideas from the adventists and a lovely fellow called barbour and how chuck preached that christ had returned in 1874 and that the last days had started in 1799.. my parents were unwilling to accept this, so i said, "read your proclaimers book!

Thanks for posting Password,it is more than possible that others of us will come up against this,incredible though it is that they cannot see that they accepted it as Spirit Directed when it was published (My copy is 1993 so not that long ago)
But isn't the Socs. stance that if they havn't written anything new on a subject then a publication.or statement is still current?
What I have been faced with is that they cannot see the relevance of early history or beliefs,they just cannot take on board how ridiculous it is to believe that all the changes come from God.
