Any seeming defence of the WT's murderous , unscriptural doctrine is like red rag to abull to me, I may have jumped too quick KN, but I still think it is worth saying, to deny your people life saving procedures, as the WT does, is the same as putting a gun to the head of the poor JW who lays dying.

Watchtower: DEATH is their Value What about the Laws of Noah?
by Terry inlife is the greatest value.. for ordinary humans self-preservation is the beginning of all other values.. without life no other values are even possible.. religiously speaking, this is especially true!.
a dead person cannot worship a living god.
when death becomes a valuable purpose it exposes a core insanity.. .

Eating blood is not the same as transfusing blood. The prohibition on blood in Acts does not in any way refer to the medical use of blood to save life.
The JW argument/example about abstain from alcohol = do not inject it, has been dealt with on here, and has also been made redundant by their acceptance of blood fractions.
That great trinitarian Tertullion may well have been referring to christians of jewish background to whom blood sausage would be anathema anyway, or perhaps they contained "things strangled", again, the early christian refusal is not of a life saving medical procedure but of a food.
The Acts decree is to deal with a problem that arose between gentiles becoming christians and the jews who already followed christ, it is a decree to solve a first century local problem, and has nothing to do with medical practice in the 21st century.

Serious discussion: Why our Brain cannot take us to God
by Terry inwe have brains and can think.. when we talk about god we leave behind material, physical sensible "things".
it is the voice of intellect not brain.
the proof is in the pudding.. the voice of god would not be mans voice.. intellect is our vehicle and it is not the atoms of a meat brain, nor vegetables nor poetry.

So, are you saying Jehovahs Witnesses have never had an orgasm ?
Sorry Terry, couldn't resist that, well written thoughts as usual. How to explain the ineffable ? Difficult, if not impossible by the very nature of the task.
You would think that a God of love would have explained Himself to us though, wouldn't you?
(Holds breath waiting for christians to weigh in)

Watchtower Wrong about Noah and blood
by Marvin Shilmer inwatchtower wrong about noah and blood.
today i added a new article to my blog addressing underpinning watchtower plies to validate its blood taboo.
as it turns out, watchtower must think that two wrongs make a right!

Well done again Marvin, I do admire your tenacity and integrity in sticking to your life saving work.
It is typical of them that the WT has to try to give their wacky interpretation of the decree in Acts some gravitas by bringing in a totally fictional character - Noah.
If anybody reads the Acts account in full, with a modicum of knowledge of how to read the Bible, and with an open mind, he or she could never conclude that there was any element of medical usage of blood touched on here, even as the WT loves to say "in principle" or "by extension".
It is time they were stopped from promulgating their murderous teaching, it is the 21st century !
I hope your efforts bear much fruit, Marvin.

My grandmother has died - All I am thinking about is the JW funeral...
by exjehovah inmy jw grandmother passed away last night after a long battle with alzhemers disease.
she suffered a lot at the end of her life, a shell of who she ounce was, so i am happy she is at peace.
as i mentioned my brother died a short three months ago.

I am so sorry that you have to suffer this, and at apainful time in your life too. I just wonder, is there no alternative for you ?
One that springs to mind if there is going to be a burial is simply to turn up at the graveside only, admittedly even there you have to listen to their doctrine spouted as an info-mercial, but at least you make the point that you have attended out of respect for grandmother.
This may not be the case of course, in which case you have my sympathy, please go, and hold your head high, nod and smile greetings to those who may ignore you, it will show that you are above their petty, unchristian ways.

Searching For an Elder's Manual (with margin scribble)
by arko_n9ne inevery day i am on here, i learn new things.
a little while back, there was a post about the existense of elder manuals with km required notes in the margin area that gave away a little more than the gb wanted.. how do i get my hands on a copy of that?
i know it's difficult to obtain pay attention (with margin scribble) and it's all the more difficult to obtain a copy of shepherd the flock of god (with margin scribble) since it is relatively newer.. if anyone could help me find a copy, be it hardcopy or pdf, i would give my left cheek.

Interesting to see the stuff that the WT does not want to admit to, especially their instructions for dealing with cases of abuse.

Do JWs have a biblically normative relationship with Jesus christ?
by Vanderhoven7 ini would say that that would be impossible...given that jesus christ is simply an angelic being in wts eyes.. jehovah's witnesses have about as much a relationship with the angel gabriel as they do with jesus.. and, no...tacking on the name of jesus at the end of a prayer is not evidence of relationship..

Anyone EVER had an Elder with a beard??? I can't remember even one!
by Witness 007 inthe society once even pictured jesus as clean shaven for many years in it's books.
beards were "sort of" banned.
i don't remember a single brother who had privledges with a beard....anyone else?.

Here in the U.K there are a few, they would not be used at a Circuit Assy etc for giving talks, even if you are just a publisher you may possibly not be used if bearded just to give a FS experience at the Assy !
In Ireland they can have one, but again don't get to do anything at Assys.
As Cedars says, this is typical Pharisee stuff, rule making, the rules are hidden too, not in any WT , but in the printed instructions to Bros handling Assy parts.
When rules are made like this , the local wacky Elders get to dictate what is worn at KH and in FS etc, which results in being able to spot a JW in any town anywhere, because they stand out as slightly weird.
How different from Jesus, who when being chased simply melted, and melded into the crowd, he must have had dress and grooming just like the "worldlings"'
Today, if Jesus dressed as do the normal people, he would not be allowed to visit Bethel.

Are you saying that you would not associate with J.F Rutherford and the sincere people who formed his religion in the early 1920's, if you lived then ?
Because its a fact that JFR and his pals celebrated Christmas and Birthdays at Bethel then.
By the way, what hasn't got pagan roots ? Wedding Ring ? days of the week ? do you use different names for them than I do ?
I could go on, but you must get the point ?

Can you be a JW in good standing and NOT go door to door?
by Terry inthe 2nd president of the watchtower bible and tract society, j.f.rutherford was criticised by some elders in the (then) independant congregations for urging members to go door to door while neglecting to do so himself.
rutherford responded:.
frequently some elder says: the president of the society does not go from house to house selling books.

Answering the thread question : NO.
You might get away with it by various means, but even somone who genuinely does a lot of informal preaching, but will not go DtoD, is looked on as a maverick and with the utmost suspicion, hardly in "good standing".
If you ain't suffering doing pointless DtoD, (40 yrs @ 10H per month= 1 convert), like the rest of 'em, they hate it.
