  JW's clearly going 'beyond the things written' - examples

  the one that got me recently is the matter of elders being removed if they encourage college education in the cong.

  where in the scriptures?

  1 Cor. 7: 10 & 11 - To the married people I give instructions, yet not I but the Lord, that a wife should not depart from her husband; but if she should actually depart, let her remain unmarried or else make up again with her husband; and a husband should not leave his wife.

  No where do I see those 3 exceptions, physical, spiritual endangerment, or negelecting to support her. Although it's a good idea to get out of an abusive situation, These are wacktower rules. NOT BIBLICAL RULES. I've seen a couple sisters use this as an excuse to dump their husbands. They violate their own rules. More hard evidence they are WRONG.

  How do you handle ... being shunned?

  my da announcement was last tuesday, so i have been on the official jw shun list for about a week now.... i am curious how you handle shunning.my situation:.

  i have spoken with my family (my parents and 1 brother) and discussed whether they will shun me.

  i explained that biblically they should not shun me since i am not an antichrist, and i have not rejected the teaching that jesus cam in the flesh.

  The brother I studied with comes into my place of employment. I'm not really sure if he knows I work there. I'm not really sure if he is still a jw or not. I find it too aukward to approch him so I just hide in the back. When I do this I feel wierd because I thought I have recovered more than that. On the other hand, if I see jws I know out on the street I'll smile and look straight ahead and not feel wierd.

  I have to keep telling myself that they are just like me, except they are just alot more f'd up in the head than I am. I prefer to think of them as mentally diseased or mentally handicapped. Which is not so far from what the situation actually is.

  When I was df'd, the marriage changed. I could feel it. I went from playing second fiddle to the org to playing NO fiddle at all. All of a sudden her jw friends came first. I was no longer head of the household. My ex wife treated me like I was some dumb retard. I became offended and things went down hill in less than 2 years. She even went as far as defending her jw friends' WRONG actions til she was red in the face. In hindsight, I'm glad she left me. Life is way too short to waste it on a kill joy like her.

  How do the elders know if you are truly repentent?

  the reason why i ask is because whenever u are df and u are trying to get reinstated they are always tellling u that u have to produce fruits befitting repentenace like attending the meetings,etc.

  they always make it seem that since they are gods spirit-directed org.

  that he will know whether or not if a person is repentent.

  They don't know. How can they know ? It is my firm belief that the elders get their jollies from seeing how far you can grovel.

  i remember as a child being impressed by several older 'brothers' who were well educated and articulate.

  we had guys with degrees and one had a ph.d in some branch of physics - a professor.

  now you know as well as i do that that level of education was, and still is, mightily discouraged by the wt but these guys had managed it somehow.. as an impressionable kid it put 'the truth' on a more secure footing for me, after all if these intelligent men could believe .

  I don't mean to blow my own horn so just let me explain. The whole time I studied or was in, I was amazed at how the "mature" witnesses could only repeat the horse crap they were taught in the kh. It appeared to me that maybe I was the only intelligent person around simply because I could talk in depth about a number of subjects, not just repeat what was said from the platform - stupid as some of those comments were.

  What's Your MAIN Reason For Not Believing In "The Truth"?

  my mother had this discussion yesterday.

  basically, my main argument was that if the fds gets jehovah's holy spirit and their "food" is "the truth", yet they always are correcting themselves, how can anyone in all fairness believe it's "the truth"??

  you can't show scripturally why organ transplants are a form of cannibalism and clearly a disfellowshipping offense and a couple of years later after possible disfellowshippings or death, and then believe jehovah god changed his view suddenly.

  Making rules that are not biblically supported. Example, the 3 instances in which a wife make seek separation from her husband. NOT biblical, but they do it.

  Also, Can't listen to any GOOD music like rock n roll

  Can't watch any GOOD movies. (I like to watch porn sometimes)

  They are just killjoys who don't like to have any fun.

  What Was The Silliest "Offense" That You Were Counseled For?

  when i was a teenager, i was told by an elder that because i smiled a lot and was known for my good sense of humor, that i should come across as "more serious".

  so before i was appointed a ms, while in my late teens, i transformed myself into a much more "serious" brother.. were you ever told that you needed to work on something that you knew was stoopid?.
