I had real bad insomnia for almost two years. I had the same symptoms as you. My mind would race and I couldn't shut down no matter how tired I was. I was also suffering from major depression. I took Ambien CR for almost 8 months. I didn't get addicted to it. When I ran out of my prescription I didn't try to get a refill and I thought I would have trouble sleeping again, but I didn't! :D I've been off the Ambien for 4 months and I sleep very well. I no longer have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. I know you said you didn't want to take meds, but they helped me and I didn't suffer any bad side affects or addiction. You should talk to your doctor. Good luck!

Crucifixion
by LunaFing inso i was wondering........why do jw's insist that jesus was not put on a "cross" but on a stake?

James- I saw that program last night as well! It got me thinking about the JW's and their views on the crucifixion and that's why I started this thread. :)

My Story - Part 3
by Jeremy C inmy story - part 1. my story - part 2. in my previous thread (part 2) i stated that i would talk about my experience as a regular pioneer in this thread.
all of them took a special interest in me and gave me encouragement.
i told him i would think about it.

Wow. This part of your story really hit on something that I've been agonizing about. My sister is also an incredible artist. Her teacher had a meeting with her telling her that with her grades and talent she could get a scholarship to an Art Collage. She proudly told him that she was going to be a regular pioneer and serve Jehovah for the rest of her life! It really bothers me that the organization discourages bright young people from going to collage. It's not fair! I want to pound some sense into her, but she's been brainwashed and I can't do anything about it. Thank you for your posts, I can't wait for part 4.

how many insiders?
by agent zero inhi everyone, i'm new here, been viewing the board for a while, decided to join yesterday.. so i'm about 95% convinced now the wts is bogus, but i'm still in coz as yall know leaving is the hardest part.
i plan on doing a fade to avoid the complete disconnection, but first want to gradually help my gf to see things too.
in the meantime, i'm just wondering how many of you are still "active" jdubs?

I haven't been to a meeting in years and am considered "inactive". I don't plan on ever going back. I've been out 10 years and have never been harassed by the elders in my old cong. I guess I'm not worth it in their eyes. That's ok with me!!! Good luck on your fade and welcome to the board.

thinking of starting a radio show
by seagrl inhi, my name is lori.
like many of you, i was involved with the cult of the jw's for many years, and it has taken many years to recover/.. i am a member of blogtalkradio, and my info page can be found here:.
i have been a guest speaker on two shows so far speaking out on the subject of cults, and in particular, jw's.. the link above will lead you to where you can hear my one hour segment... i am presently considering hosting my own show and having variuos guest speakers to discuss on air the things we are all talking about in the forums.

From innocent to...
by mind my own inhow many of you initally checked out this site for completely innocent reasons?
just stumbed across it and couldnt' stop reading, or to see what was being read with the intent of setting us or someone else in your life straight?
then b/c of what you read you could no longer buy into the whole jw fraud and left the org or are in the process of leaving?

Same as Hortensia. I've been out for ten years but still have a lot of family in the borg. Stumbled on this site by accident while I was looking for something else. I've found so much support here and log in everyday. Funny how we "Apostates" are much nicer and more understanding than people in the "truth". I've referred a few people to this site and saved one of my friends from joining the JW's.

My Story - Part 2
by Jeremy C inlike many jw children, i was deeply influenced and motivated by watchtower society artwork depicting the new system of things.
i was profoundly influenced by artwork (particularly in the book: you can live forever in paradise on earth) that portrayed children petting tigers, playing with lion cubs, running through grassy fields with kites, and enjoying care-free lives.
what i now realized about myself is that for a jw to desire such things; and to go through the motions - performing organizationally-programmed activity in order to receive this reward; does not necessarily require a love for god or christ that is any deeper than other religionists.

I am very impressed with your writing style. Great job describing the mindset of people in the org and what they do to us as children to make us believe in the religion.
