LOL. Sorry DFd3. I'm not on this forum much any more but because I recommended it to a friend that is just leaving the JW's I checked in and got your PM. I guess I exaggerated when I said I knew you, what I should have said was that I had met you on a couple of occasions. It was my brother (who was in your hall) that told me your story. Apparently he got a couple of minor details wrong. Glad that you're still with us.

Are you sick of conspiracy nuts?.....9/11
by Witness 007 inyes apparently the staff at the twin towers on 9/11 didn't notice the explosives strapped to all the beams on each floor......of course a plane fully loaded with jet fuel going so fast it nearly flew through the building {blew out the otherside} would not be enough to cause a collapse.
the building were glowing red!
people jumped due to the heat and smoke.

AGuest, I must apologize. I haven't read any of your posts in this thread, since you've shown in other threads that you're bat-shit crazy (peace be with you!). I assume that you are probably on the conspiracy theorists side since you're a total wack job.
Leolaia, thank you for your thoughtful response. I wish I had your patience. You have laid out a very well researched and well reasoned argument, as usual, which I'm sure will continue to be met with ridicule by those that wish to believe we live in a world filled with cartoonish supervillians. Rest assured that those of us capable of thoughtful analysis appreciate your research.

Lol. Exactly what I expected. Prodigal Son, you're still referencing the old "Pull it" quote? The one that Truthers originally said was " a common demolition term" but which has since been shown by an analysis of trade publications to have never been used as a term to demolish a building? Neither you nor anyone else in your fantasy world is refuting the actual evidence. Just more " Oh yeah? What about this?!" Your nonsense is the reason this thread was started. For you and Jaguar Bass: Make an actual claim that can be investigated and I'll respond. Innuendo and pretend spitting leave nothing to respond to.

And one other question conspiracy theorists should answer: What was the point? To invade Iraq? If that's the case, then not only is it the most ingenious and diabolical conspiracy in history, it is also the most convoluted and pointless. If you were going to create a conspiracy to frame Iraq for a major crime against humanity in order to justify an invasion, what is the first thing on the agenda? FRAME IRAQ!! So why were none of the hijackers from Iraq? Why did George Bush have to go to absurd and tenuous links to try to link Saddam Hussein to 9/11, connections that virtually none of the world believed, in order to invade? If he were in on the conspiracy, the first item on the agenda would be INCLUDE AN IRAQI!
The second item? Make sure I'm doing something heroic and presidential when I get the news. Anything but reading to a bunch of school children and then taking several minutes to make the decision to leave after receiving the news.

And here's a video from the guy that made the video, Edward Current, who was once a 911 truther. He is one of the few Truthers that may honestly be called a critical thinker. I, as a scientific thinker, find it highly offensive when denialists try to co-opt the term "critical thinker". Denialism is the opposite of critical thinking. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UULUQfEQFuU&feature=relmfu

How did WTC 7 collapse when it wasn't hit by a plane? This is the crux of many truthers arguments, so let me enlighten you. Here you go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFJa9WUy5QI&feature=player_embedded

The End?
by lostandconfused ingrowing up i remember always hearing, "the end will come when the preaching work is finished?".
then it was, "the end will come when there are no more annointed on earth".
now i hear it's when the "generation is gone" but oh wait...there's now new light about an "overlapping of 2 generations??".

Awen, your entire post is an oxymoron. To summarize: We should be grateful that our benevolent god hasn't yet committed the beautiful atrocity that he will eventually commit. We should be thankful for every agonizingly torturous day that we endure before he eventually brings us into the real life by murdering millions or billions of men women and babies (so many millions of babies!) to bring about the new system. How dare those infidels not believe us when we said the world would end before those that saw the events of 1914 would die - Oh crap - scratch that. We need to start over...
It has NOTHING to do with serving for a date. It has to do with the JW's making testable, falsifiable, and therefore scientific claims that they were god's one and only channel. Those claims were: 1) that the bible points to 1914 as a pivotal year due to the Jews being taken into Babylonish exile in 606 B.C.E. (Later changed to 607 when it was pointed out to them that they were terrible at math). False. This has been proven to have happened in 586 - 587 B.C.E., with not a single shred of evidence for 607.
I was going to go on, but realy, what's the point. If you don't get it, I'm not going to convince you. Enjoy you're delusion. Just think about this: When you converted, there were probably solid reasons for that. Do those reasons still exist? Not one of mine do. Not one.

Lovers becoming friends
by JRK inplease help me understand the dynamics of it.
how do you go from being intimate to becoming buddies?
i have always been better at being a friend than being in a relationship.

I rarely post here anymore, but I still lurk farely often. This thread got to me because I'm currently going through the same thing. I fell in love with her when she was 14 and I was 17. I felt guilty about having feelings for someone that wasn't "ready to be married" so instead I married someone else, mainly because this other girl was very pretty and a pioneer.
Fifteen years later I fell back in love with her when we were both going through our divorces at the same time. I helped her escape the JW's. We dated for three years. We were engaged. It felt like a storybook ending. But there was something wrong. That something turned out to be me. I wasn't ready to be married again. In the end it was her that pointed out the harsh truth about that. It broke her heart, and mine, but I had to agree. My first marriage had broken something within me. I don't know if I will ever be able to go through that again.
So now we're friends. Best friends actually. She is my favorite person in the world. We have shared so much, helped each other through such difficult times. I wouldn't stay friends with just any former girlfriend. But she is so much more then that. I can't imagine my life without her. She is currently dating a very good man. While it is difficult, sometimes painful, to see her with someone else, I am happy for her. The pain is worth it for the friendship that we have.
I obviously don't know the particulars of the dynamic that you have with your Ex. I would say that if it isn't a deep friendship, just an ex lover that is hard to let go of, then just be strong and make a clean break. You will be better off and heal more quickly in the long run. But if she is someone special, perhaps a lifelong friend like mine, then do your best to make the transition. A good friend is one of the most important things we can hope to have in this life.

Wachtower says 97% of teens masturbate....is it realistic that 100% Witness teens don't?
by Witness 007 in"young people ask" book admits 97% of youths masturbate...to put it into perspective, it's like saying 97% of the worlds population own a phone or a t.v!!
so is it realistic to believe these witnesses going thru puberty and teenage years won't on penalty of death?.
i always thought, if nearly 100% of teens do it isn't it normal?.

The society's position is even crazier than what has already been stated, at least it used to be. The "Your Youth" book equates masturbation with homosexuality:
Your Youth (1976) p.39 Chapter 5 Masturbation and Homosexuality
HOMOSEXUAL PRACTICES
9 Weakly giving in to sexual desires by masturbation will certainly not give you strength when faced with a situation tempting you to commit fornication-or even homosexuality. Just the opposite, it cultivates wrong thinking and wrong desire. In fact, masturbation can lead into homosexuality. In such instances the person, not satisfied with his lonely sexual activity, seeks a partner for mutual sex play.
10 This happens much more frequently than you may realize. Contrary to what many persons think, homosexuals are not born that way, but their homosexual behavior is learned. And often a person gets started when very young by playing with another's sexual parts, and then engaging in homosexual acts. (source www.quotes-watchtower.co.uk/masturbation.html )
As if just feeling guilty wasn't bad enough, they made impressionable young teens question their own sexual orientation!
I had to deal with this nonsense, not as a teenager, but as a young married man of about twenty-two. I had been married for about two years when my wife caught me looking at internet porn (still images via dial-up in those days). She cried and cried. She thought it was so perverted and disgusting. Then, taking her cue from the WTS in all their wisdom, she asked the question "Are you gay?" I am not an effeminate man. I had never given any indication of leanings that direction. Her one reason to ask that was the above quote and others like it from the Watchtower. How sick is that? It ruined my marriage for years to come. She even brought it up in our divorce, even though that was more than ten years after that incident. Their perverted writings wrecked an otherwise happy young marriage.

She shows too much cleavage. What should I say to her?
by Iamallcool ini met a gorgeous lady yesterday and she shows too much cleavage.
i see her facebook page, all of her pictures has cleavage in them, i would not want to date her because she shows too much all the time.
i am tempted to tell her to cover up her cleavage, she might not like me telling her that.

Before you talk to her, you should send friend requests to all of her Facebook friends and try and garner support for your point of view. That way you can say "Your friend Jenny and your sister Carol agree with me that you show too much cleavage". She will appreciate the consensus and will be impressed with your diligent research.
