i know of people that never tried to get ahead or prosper themselves because they were witnesses.

never bought a house or a brand new car because they would rather rent and drive around in a jalopy that would break down.

You can find these losers anywhere. Whining, moaning, obsessing on things that happened 20 & 30 years ago. They are getting some "pay off" from it all. What??? Attention? Sympathy? An excuse to sit & accomplish nothing?

Some people just seem to get off on repeatedly picking off old scabs. I don't understand it really. There is so much beauty in life to see & experience. We can sit & waste our lives rehashing old crap that we can do nothing about at all, or we can acknowledge & move on.

i live in the country on a hill and i know in the country there are lots of birds but for 3 days now there have been a group of turkey buzzards flying over my house non stop.

as far as i know there is nothing dead in my yard but they constantly circle and circle around my house and getting close to the windows.

now i shower everyday so it can't be that i smell,,,,,,,,could it?.

hope i can get some positive feedback., and i really mean it, don?t want to offend anyone but .. .

reflecting on your own experiences are people on this website mainly open to new points of views, new ideas, or is this mainly a site for criticizing even when there?s no concrete evidence just for the sake of it.

reason why i?m asking this is because i?ve been a member here for just under a week here and already had unpleasant experience of being dragged into pretty nasty argument just because i dared to disagree with someone.

There are some sensible people here and some total nutters. In time you learn who to ignore and who to encourage. The trouble is that the nutters get the most attention, which is why some of them act that way in the first place.

For some reason, given some stuff I have seen on the net in general, this struck me as way funny!

CV, the internet is not for the thin skinned at all. It is not the place to air personal business, as it will come back to bite you in the butt in the end. You cannot get "unconditional love" on a message board, & you must invest most of your time & energies in real life. It is easy to get addicted to the net & get suck in a rut!

The witchtower society has as much of an effect on your life as you let it. It only has the power you give it. It's kinda like voodoo that way.

Jeannie, I like a little bit bigger of a font, the regular one can be difficult for people with glasses to read.

Preston, I agree with you. I think there may have been ways for Diana to counteract Camilla from the beginning, & wash that woman right outta Charle's head. Being bulimic, crying all day & throwing herself down the steps pregnant wasn't the way! What husband is going to put up with that for very long??? What sane person is going to put up with such dramatics & havoc?

It goes to show that looks are not everything, a person wants a sensible & functioning partner. That being said, I do think Diana was a lovely, but troubled individual.

It's sexist to call Diana a slut. I think most women, in Diana's shoes, would have sought solice in the arms of another caring man. It's not as if she was hanging out in the pubs picking up men and taking them out to the back alley for a quickie.

That is so true. This marriage seemed to quickly fall apart. I do think Charles was the first one to go outside of it. I also think the Royal way of life set the entire thing in motion.

Everyone should appreciate their spouses & treat them special, as they would like to be treated. You can't really "steal" a spouse that doesn't want to be stolen.

almost a month ago my work mates mother jumped in front of a train!

she was 54. just the week before he was telling me how he was worried about her mental health.

I'm with Flying High,Sirona & Billygoat.

Petty moralizing aside, I think it's one hell of a love story! I have the utmost compassion for all involved. The Roayl machine hurt an awful lot of people, starting with Diana. I think she was a naiive, 20 year old girl used & abused by it all. I think Charles had a beautiful but troubled young young wife foisted upon him for duty.

The entire episode left a whole lot of people hurt by it all. I think those calling Camilla names based upon her looks are cruel & crass.

There are a few lessons to be learned here. For those that would get in their adult children's love lifes & attempt to influence them, this is what can result down the road. Also, it takes more than flash & beauty to hold a marriage together & a husband's attention. It goes to show that a dramatic, crying & often upset wife will have the opposite effect. I think a man wants his intellectual & emotional equivalent.

Opposites attract, but from what I've seen, then they tend to claw each other's eyes out eventually. Charles & Camilla come from similar back grounds, have always circulated in the same social circles, probably view things with similar perceptions & share common interests. Horticulture, riding & fox hunting (eeew!) seem to make them both happy. Attending glamorous celebrity parties doesn't seem to interest either one.

I wish them every happiness!

Some good news

our kid told me this week end that her classes at college are not challenging enough, they are filling her schedule up with projects & busy work, & that she is either going to law school, or for her degree to become a history professor at the college.

she was going for elementary education.

lawyer was what she really wanted to be in the first place.

She is very intelligent & I think she just needs subjects that utilize more of it. She is in her 3rd year at a very good rated college here. Some colleges (universities) offer Doctorate degrees as well as Bachelors.

More and more of us & our interests is coming out in her the older she gets.

Need Ideas - Parenting Problem/Question

here's a question to all of you parents out there.... do any of you, especially those who were born and raised as a jw, have trouble parenting your non-jw children?...

i've been "out" for 18 years and since then have married and had two children.

i find it incredibly difficult to not parent "witness style".

I chose my battles carefully. Only having been exposed to the jws from age 13-15 was plenty for me! But ever after I had to deal with my mother's authoritarian style & it went agains tthe very fiber of my being. My personality is laid back & not bossy. I am not organized, not regimented & not even apt to follow a whole lot of arbitrary rules. So it had to be really important for me to fight about it. May I ask how old your kid is?
