Strange Exodus - Ninth Installment
by Frannie Banannie infrom april 23, 1992 forward......and this one's not going to be as funny as i thought it would be before i wrote it...... .
after i sent that april 22nd letter to the gb, i went off on a tangent in my letter writing........why?
i noticed one day as i was pouring over some scriptures in revelation in my nwt reference version.....that the name "apollyon" was referenced with an "a".....hmmmmm....that set me thinking.....i hadn?t always been the type of person who has a tendency to "gloss over" or ignore the "bad" and see what is good in a person or situation, but the wts had surely pulled the "wool" over my eyes and i?d been duped into being an almost total "pollyanna" where their doctrines had been concerned, and consequently my family had been destroyed and i?d lost years of my life and valued friendships.

Does Our Being A JW At One Time Mean That We Now Have "Baggage"?

Heck no, it isn't :)
People then get all kinds of preconceived notions in their heads. I don't bring it up much, but if it comes up or people start asking me where my mother is, it is an opportunity to educate. I was surprised I heard more than a few people think that jws don't use doctors or medicine.

It is a joke, isn't it? I wonder how many people even VOTE! How many have voted in all the elections they had the right to participate in.
How many registered voters here? How many Eurpoeans involved in the politics of their own country, instead of being absolutely obsessed with the politics & citizens of another country? How many here particpated in politics in any way, besides being armchair warriors?
It would be funny, if it wasn't so counterproductive. What does this accomplish, besides time wasting?
If you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem!

Hey deli king, kewl, we are going to see Tull in a few months, great seats!
But what a great, imaginative song, Skating Away
Corny, I know But True!
Shine on me sunshine
Walk with me world
It?s a skippidity-do-da day
I?m the happiest girl, in the whole U.S.A.Thank you oh Lord
for making him for me
And thank you for letting life turn out the way
That I always thought it could be
There once was a time when I could not imagine
How it would feel to say
I?m happiest girl, in the whole U.S.AThe Gypsy Meets The Boy

Jonathon The tarot is fate, said the Gypsy Queen And she beckoned me, to glimpse my future she'd seen Gypsy to Jonathon She said, do you see what I see?, be careful to choose Be careful what you wish for, cause it may come true When I lay the card down will it turn up the fool? Will it turn up sorrow? If it does then you lose Jonathon to the Gypsy I'm the lost boy can you help me Yeah, I'm the lost boy can you help me

Right on Mr. Cruise :)
It is a poor excuse for lack of initiative & personal responsability to blame everyting that went wrong in our lives on the jws. At what point does a person grow & stop blaming their parents, the jws, & all manner of other excuses for their lack of success & health? This is the same argument many criminals use to try & elicit sympathy. All a person can do is learn things from the experience & strive every day to become the best person they can & reach their full potential.
Going through the pain & out the other side so that we may help others seems like a useful way to deal with it. Wearing our pain like a badge, & constantly dwelling on & refering to things that happened in the past seems like going backward, to me. If a person keeps on banging their head against a wall, who's fault is it?
Acknowledge, & move on was one of the most profound things a friend has ever said to me.

Seriously, I wonder how many actually read & educate themselves. I wonder how many have ever even voted. They have changed the climate of this forum so much, & for what? To be declared "right"?
I have a sister half in & a bro in law that was raised, but I don't think it would be good to send them here any more. Between the political propaganda & the penis/nipple threads, it will scare them right back into the borg!
I don't understand why they don't join a political fighting board & quit trying to preach their latest dogma here. I don't for the life of me understand why some Europeans are so obsessed with American politics. What do they really know of what goes on in America? Fifteen second sound bites? Why doesn't Simon start Simon's Political Board, where they can bark at each other?

Nope, I don't think that is it. Like a train wreck, people just can't stop looking at political threads, & some can't control themselves enough to resist more spew.
We have a lot of armchair warriors on both sides floating around here. I wonder how many are even registered to vote, & how many vote regularly.

I consider it a privilege and a duty to be able to vote and strive to educate myself on the platform and issues of each election, not just Presidential election year. It is a shame less than 50% of our population votes and that is on the Presidential years. People in other countries suffer greatly for so far smaller freedoms than we possess.
Good for you, Ms Bisous, this is admirable. Many here could learn from your example. Instead of fanatically trying to change other poster's political views, everyone should strive to become educated & well read, & become part of the solution. Sitting around being less than grateful & complaining solves nothing. Instead of being absolutely obsessed by the politics in a different country than where one lives, why not become involved & do something in one's own country! With freedom comes responsability!

I have long been involved in local politics on a small scale, & have been appointed to my local zoning board for over 6 years now.
I feel you are on the right track here, it is a healthy way to deal with one's political feelings & opinions, not by trying to preach our own particular view point & try to gain converts. Too much like jws, having to win, win, win.
There are many ways to channel energy in the right direction, everyone could phone their local party head quarters or even their senator & find out how to be part of the solution instead of part of the problem.

I think it is all what a person makes of it. I have met a few xjws that seem to relish in their "phobias" or whatever. They didn't want to progress or grow. It seemed almost comforting to them in some sick way to be able to say "that's just the way I am".
Others made real progress by getting into the real world, learning things, reading, going to school & becomming more active. Most people seem really motivated to learn & grow as individuals. So personally, I think the only thing one can do about the lemons is to make lemonade, learn from it & reach out. I do think it can be un-learned & overcome, & people can go on to get the most out of life & freedom.
