This forum...Is it really healthy........??
by ScoobySnax in....i mean is it really healthy to be posting on this forum if you still hold pro-jw views?
is it really healthy to keep posting even though you may be anti-jw?
..... when does the crunch come to think enough is enough, i need to get a grip and move on with my life as a jw or exjw?

I have been acquainted with people on the web that use it to avoid real life. Some people cling to their phobias, as if it's part of their persona or something. Having a board of support 24/7 that will tell a person "there, there" every time they have a fear or bad experience is no substitute for real life. I think everyone should figure out who they really are & what they are interested in, & pursue it. Take classes, get a job, join a gym, volenteer, get some hobbies, read some books, learn how to navigate in the "real world". This cyber world is not the real world. It can get like a security blanket, a comfort zone. I believe there comes a time when it is holding some of us back.
Then there are just lazy, terminal time wasters that communicate thorough nothing but forwards, tired old jokes we have all seen a hundred times, rediculous urban legends, sappy poems about non-existant dead kids, and the like. Do they really think we haven't seen this crap a million times? They sit there, letting life go by. They miss all the weather, changes of seasons, fresh air & beauty there is to enjoy. They miss the ocean in their face & the roller coaster rides & the beauty of the moonlit night.
Not to mention the "isms" Christians, anti-governmentists, athiests, anyone obsessing about a certain belief or topic & repeatedly firing off SPAM trying to convert others to their dogma. What a bore!
Everyone, get out & enjoy life to the fullest!

I just saw on the History Channel yesterday that a bunch of kids murdered in the Jim Jones mess were actually foster children placed with them by the state of California that they drug off to Guyana.

America, damned if we do, damned if we don't
by Adam ini'm sure you've all heard about that woman who narrowly avoided being stoned to death in nigeria.
stoned to death?
why didn't they just burn her at the stake?

people don't hate America despite the aid they give to other countries, they hate America for being able to give the aid. That's a fact! How much money can you throw down a black hole? What would be enough to make anyone actually like America? They hate us, but yet they all seem to wanna come over here.

Ex-JW Convention in Pennsylvania coming up!
by Dogpatch infor those who are inclined, i recommend this convention.. october 17-19, 2003. pfo?s international convention will celebrate its silver anniversary in 2003. from humble beginnings in 1979, the convention has been a consistent source of counsel, support, and encouragement for people whose lives have been torn apart by the watchtower society.
during the past twenty-four years, help to jehovah?s witnesses who desire to break free from the organization and to families who have lost loved ones to the sect have been a primary focus of the meetings.
the three-day conventions are filled with doctrinal teaching, examinations of jehovah?s witness doctrine and practice, and wonderful testimonies by those who have made their exodus from the watchtower organization and have found true salvation through jesus christ.. http://www.pfo.org/2003wnfj.htm.

I'm not a christian & I am easily annoyed with anyone trying to push their stuff on me, but I have attended this thing the past 2 years & I must say, they were the most well adjusted, least pushy christians I have ever encountered. You can go dressed as yourself & there is no caste system, no disapproving "looks" or anyone urging you to become "born again". No stupdity involved. No begging for money, none of it. I do believe I've seen a few homosexual coules there before, but I never asked :) I would recommend it to anyone, & Mouthy alone is worth the drive!

If your still-JW parent died...
by starfish422 inwould you attend the funeral/memorial service?
assuming that it would be held in a kh; or even if it wasn't.. this is something that's been on my mind lately; honestly, i'm not sure why.
my parents are both still relatively young; 60 and 61. my dad has been diagnosed with skin cancer but both are otherwise healthy.. i really don't know whether i would; particularly for my father.

I'd have to side with megadude on this one. My mom is an inactive, alcoholic jw still very head tripped by them, & I moved across the country to get away from her spiel. She put everyone through alot & just wouldn't quit. So I shun her, I don't need the dysfunction in my family's life. Now, over here is an old jw lady that I've known a long time, & she doesn't shun me & I've never told her how I feel. she is an old lady, what good would it do??? When she dies, I will go, & this time I will not keep my mouth shut, nor will I just spout off. It is because I love her that I don't picket the damn kingdom hall & put Silentlambs bumper stickers on all their cars :) But to HER funeral I will go. I can't see any point in attending what is basically just another JW meeting. Also, my JW mother has terminated our relationship because she is *ahem* of the elite annointed and I am of the ex-JW tribe. If I never saw her again in my life, it would be no problem for me anymore. I don't need to attend a funeral just to get a glimpse of the corpse of a religious fanatic who long ago ceased being my mother.

New Xdub Group Online
by Frannie Banannie ini don't know whether it's "kosher" to do this here ( i'm sure someone will tell me, if it isn't .
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/exjwsrockandroll/?yguid=151962330this group is created for the emotional/moral support of and camaradarie with exjws who've already stomped almost all the "snakes" we can stand to stomp and dealt with almost all the jw and wt "bs" issues we care to and have decided to move on with our lives.
we're here because we speak the same language and understand the hangups we each have as we attempt to deal with the real world...and because we enjoy each other's company and want to benefit from and also be a provider of the moral and emotional support we all need in our lives, which will include dealing with jdub family members, at times.

Lol@drawers droppin' :) It would be refreshing to have a small support group that was not preachin' or worryin' about "stumbling" others.

Pick one.....The lesser of two evils.
by Adam inif you had to be born into a religious family and stuck in it 'till you finally broke free, would you rather it be mormon or jw?
-
gypsywildone
a jack Mormon on birth control! Mormons have more fun. Their religion hosts dances & parties for kids, celbrates holidays, encourages college, believes in free enterprize, & charity.

All you naysayers: Other people read those boards also. Non-jws, newly studying jws. It can do a lot of good!
